Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 6 – J. Orman +0.5kg
Race 7 – J. Bayliss +0.5kg
 
Jockey D. Thornton pleaded guilty to a charge of misconduct pursuant to AR115(1)(a) when attempting to weigh out early for MISS MIRIAM for Race 3, he used offensive language in the weighing area after being told he was not able to weigh out at that time. Jockey D. Thornton was subsequently fined $200.
 
Race 1: STRADBROKE CALCUTTA 13 JUNE QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M
 
CONCESSION – Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
BANKSIA BEACH – Began awkwardly. Jockey J. Stanley reported his mount raced greenly throughout.
 
SHERAQUAY – Slow to begin, crowded for room and steadied after the start. Approaching the 700m, improved onto heels and shifted out.
 
AIRSWING – Laid out shortly after the start.
 
AYE EYE BOOM – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Raced wide throughout.
 
SPIRIT FOX – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 800m raced in restricted room and steadied.
 
Race 2: CASCADE QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M
 
PROVANCE – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
BLITZUM – Checked leaving the 600m and steadied from the heels of PERFECT DAWN.
 
CHAMIERRO – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority.
 
I'M HEROIC – Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly after the start.
 
PROCLAIMER – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
THE GAMBLING GREEK – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
LA COMETA (NZ) – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced wide throughout. Raced greenly leaving the 600m.
 
PERFECT DAWN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Leaving the 600m, tightened for room and checked when PROCLAIMER shifted in and away from LA COMETA, which shifted in abruptly before being corrected.
 
Race 3: BECOME A BRC MEMBER QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M
 
ABOUT TO EXPLODE – Laid in under pressure leaving the 100m. Leaving the 50m was bumped by MISS MIRIAM.
 
DUKE OF LANCASTER – Slow to begin.
 
EPIC FLASH – Apprentice C. Graham reported her mount raced keenly in the middle stages whilst in the lead.
 
PAYLINE – Over raced in the early and middle stages and proved difficult to settle. Laid in under pressure. Apprentice T. Fenlon was cautioned regarding her using her whip with an action that raises her arm above shoulder height.
 
SER JOH – Shifted out shortly after the start and bumped ITZA MOTZA. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor reported that the gelding did not feel right in its action over the concluding stages when weakening from the 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery.
 
ITZA MOTZA – Hampered shortly after the start.
 
MISS MIRIAM – Leaving the 50m shifted out under pressure and bumped with ABOUT TO EXPLODE.
 
Race 4: STRADBROKE SEASON BOOK NOW BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1800 M
KOKONOTSU – Slow to begin. Improved onto heels leaving the 700m and shifted out. Raced wide without cover from that point onwards.
 
ALDEENAARY (IRE) – Slow to begin. Became momentarily unbalanced when bumped by GRIPPING, which was taken out by ALL’S FAIR (R. Jamieson). Jockey R. Jamieson was advised to exercise greater care.
 
ASWAAT – Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 300m.
 
ICHIBAN – Slow to begin. Jockey J. Orman reported after beginning awkwardly, the gelding settled further back than anticipated.
 
ALL'S FAIR – Held up rounding the home turn. Shifted out under pressure leaving the 200m.
 
Race 5: SKY RACING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1800 M
 
HIYAAM PROUD – Began awkwardly.
 
KADAVAR (NZ) – Shifted out at the winning post and bumped FARWEST.
 
GREY ICE (NZ) – Blundered on jumping. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
RASHFORD – Trainer’s representative for C. Munce advised of a change of tactics and will attempt to ride the gelding with cover. From a wide barrier was restrained to take up a position at the rear of the field with cover. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor could offer no excuse for today’s disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
RING ME UP – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 300m, laid in and was corrected away from the heels of GREY ICE (NZ).
 
FARWEST – Slow to begin. Approaching the 1300m, shifted in and brushed the rail. Crowded and bumped passing the winning post.
 
PELE PRINCESS – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 6: XXXX MAIDEN PLATE 1400 M
 
UNITED FRONT – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
FLYWHEEL – Leaving the 1200m, got its head up whilst being steadied when racing to the inside of OLE BAZZLE (NZ), which shifted in marginally before being corrected. Laid in under pressure approaching the 400m and bumped ONE COMMAND. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
GAVIN – Shifted out after the start.
 
ONE COMMAND – Raced wide throughout. Whilst weakening leaving the 400m, was bumped by FLYWHEEL. Jockey R. Maloney reported the gelding never travelled throughout the race and commenced to weaken in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A subsequent endoscopic examination after arriving back at the stables revealed mucus. Representative for trainer C. Maher was notified a veterinary clearance is required prior to the gelding racing again.
 
LEGER CHASE – Raced wide throughout.
 
ROSSO LEVANTO (NZ) – Hampered shortly after the start. Over raced in the early stages. Leaving the 1300m, steadied when awkwardly placed at heels. Laid in under pressure. Raced greenly in the straight and proved somewhat difficult to ride.
 
SKIEDA – Improved onto the heels of the tiring ONE COMMAND near the 400m and was obliged to shift in to secure clear running.
 
IDEELIC – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
OLE BAZZLE (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice C. Graham reported her mount raced greenly throughout.
 
Race 7: MULLINS LAWYERS CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1500 M
 
The start of this race was delayed when HE’S HEAVEN reared and became cast in the barriers. HE’S HEAVEN was declared a late withdrawal at 3:31pm on veterinary advice. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on HE’S HEAVEN be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st – PORKY 10c win, 15c place.
2nd – BEAN FOGGY 12c place
3rd – BROOKHAVEN 9c place
 
Trainer D. Forster was advised HE’S HEAVEN would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
OUR MAGNUS – Raced wide throughout. Laid out under pressure and near the 300m, rider R. Dolan dropped his near side rein before regathering it near the 200m.
 
UNDER THE CAP – Jockey M. Rodd reported the gelding failed to finish off the race as expected and would benefit from today’s run.
 
NITROGLYCERINE – Slow to begin. Leaving the 600m tightened for room and steadied from the heels of BEAN FOGGY (K. Wilson-Taylor), which shifted in before being corrected. In all circumstances, Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a).
 
Race 8: LADBROKES EASY FORM CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1400 M
 
COOL KAAP – Restrained at the start from a wide barrier to a position closer to the rail.
 
LOOSE UNIT – Began awkwardly.
 
SAVILEO – Hampered after the start and lost ground.
 
SOUTH SEA – Jockey B. Thornton reported the gelding, which was backing up from racing on a heavy track last start, raced flat today and has recommended to connections to freshen the gelding up.
 
BOOM IN THE DARK – Jockey D. Thornton could offer no excuse for the gelding, which weakened from passing the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer T. Gollan advised the gelding would now be spelled.
 
DARK TANGENT – Restrained at the start from a wide barrier to a position closer to the rail. Approaching the 700m, raced in restricted room and brushed the rail.
 
CARTWHEELS – Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 100m, shifted out under pressure and had to be corrected.
 
EASTERLY – Raced keenly in the early stages.

SILVER GODDESS – Restrained at the start from a wide barrier to a position closer to the rail. Near the 800m, laid in and steadied from heels. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
PROSPERINA – Near the 800 steadied from heels.
 
WHISKEY AND BEER – Restrained at the start from a wide barrier to a position closer to the rail. Raced wide throughout.
 
BRASCO – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced wide throughout without cover. Near the 1100m, became unbalanced after contacting the hind quarters of LOOSE UNIT, which shifted out slightly. Approaching the 500m momentarily steadied from the heels of BOOM IN THE DARK, which shifted out.
 
Race 9: SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
RADIANT REMI – Apprentice T. Fenlon was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for using her whip with an action that raises her arm above shoulder height.
 
SELOUS – Slow to begin.
 
AMATHUBA – Restrained after the start to take up a position closer to the rail.
 
MISSION OF LOVE – Slow to begin. Jockey R. Dolan reported his mount failed to handle today’s track conditions.
 
CELESTIAL HARBOUR – Slow to begin.  
 
BUNDYANDCOKE – Raced wide for the majority.
