GENERAL
 
Due to N Day being unable to attend today’s meeting rider changes were authorised as per the Stewards summary.
 
As CULPURNIA failed to arrive on course due to transport difficulties, the filly was declared late scratching’s by order of the stewards at 11:50am.
 
 
Race 1: HAPPY NEW YEAR BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000 metres
 
BOOT SHAKER – Began awkwardly.
 
BEWARE – Raced wide throughout.
 
SCENIC SIGHT – Raced keenly throughout the middle stages. Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 100m.
 
SCHWEID AS – Slow to begin and lost ground as a result of its barrier being slow to open. Held up from the 400m until obtaining clear running approaching the 200m.
 
MORE THAN LIKELY – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover through the early and middle stages.
 
 
 
Race 2: RACING 5TH FEBRUARY CLASS B HANDICAP 1000 metres
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to ascertain if the starter affected the start. After considering the evidence from both the starter, the riders and viewing the available patrol footage it was established that following the starter affecting the start there was a significant delay prior to the gates opening, resulting in the majority of runners being disadvantaged. Taking this into consideration stewards declared to event a no race under the provisions of AR205.
 
Following the event the barriers, under the supervision of stewards, were tested on multiple occasions. Due to the barriers being inconsistent and mechanically malfunctioning on each test, stewards could not be satisfied with their integrity and elected to abandon to remainder of the meeting pursuant to AR21(f)(i)
