GENERAL
Prior to the start of the meeting, Stewards conducted an inspection of the track after rain earlier in the week. Of concern to Stewards was the consistency of the racing surface over the entirety of the track with emphasis on a section from the 500 metres to near the 700 metres.

Stewards consulted with a delegation of senior riders, who had also inspected the track, and after doing so, all parties were satisfied that the track was suitable and safe for racing however the state and condition of the track would be monitored by riders and Stewards as the meeting progressed.
