Chairman: K Daly
Stewards:T Frazer

Judge: C Weidmann
Veterinarian: Dr E Robson
Swab Official: B Andrews
Jockey Advocate: S Scriven

General: PRIMROSE SKY and TIPSY TYCOON (race 1), which were both first-up today after an extended break, and LITTLE ELVIS (race 4), which pulled up in a distressed state at its most recent start at Wondai on 25th April, were all examined by the Club Vet and cleared to start in their respective races. DUAN MAJOR (race 5) was withdrawn at 11:45am when the gelding was found to be sore. Stable representative for trainer B Gill was advised a Vet Certificate of soundness would be required prior to its next race start.

RACE 1: CLASS B HDCP 800 Metres

Stewards accepted the explanation of Trainer A Ross for the late declaration of a rider for TIPSY TYCOON.

BARAKULA – G Geran, rider of BARAKULA, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift out approaching the 400 metres when insufficiently clear of PRIMROSE SKY which had to be checked. G Geran was suspended for a period of 6 meetings to commence midnight 24th May up to and including midnight 3rd June 2015.

I AM MCLOVIN – bumped by another runner near 400 metres. Raced wide throughout.

PRIMROSE SKY – checked approaching 400 metres.

YOU’LL HAVE TO – bumped by another runner near 400 metres.

GUNNA EXCEL – slow to begin.

BRADBURY’S FORTUNE – began awkwardly and lost ground.

RACE 2: RATINGS 0-55 HDCP 1200 Metres

As App N Ogura was delayed due to transport difficulties, he was replaced by App H Phillpots as the rider of GOLD RECORD.

NADOR – shifted in under pressure inside 100 metres and bumped another runner.

MISS TYPIN – bumped by another runner inside 100 metres.

WONDERFUL TESS – when questioned regarding the below market performance App H Phillips stated the filly never travelled in the run and failed to respond when place under pressure from leaving the 800 metres, and in her opinion was most disappointing. A post race Vet examination of WONDERFUL TESS failed to reveal any significant findings other than a slower than normal post-race recovery rate. Trainer P Sexton indicated it was now his intention to spell the filly.

SMALL TALK – raced wide in early stages of the event.

CASA CIELLO – slow to begin.

GOLD RECORD – raced wide for majority of the event.

RACE 3: QTIS MAIDEN HDCP 1200 Metres

Correct weight was delayed to allow App S Lacey, rider of third placegetter CANADEN to view the DVD replay in relation to an incident near the 900 metres involving second placegetter SHOULDA TO SHOULDA (APP B Derbyshire). After viewing the replay App Lacey elected not to take the matter further.

EXCEED WITH SPEED – raced wide throughout. Shifted ground rounding the home-turn when under pressure.

A NEW SOUND – checked off heels from another runner near the 900 metres and lost ground.

CANADEN – tightened by another runner near 900 metres and made contact with the running rail. A post race Vet examinationrevealed superficial cuts to the off-side hock.

ESSO BESSO – near 900 metres over-raced and improved onto heels, and when being steadied, shifted in and hampered another runner despite the efforts of its rider. Taken wider by another runner on the home-turn.

WIG WAM BAM – raced in restricted and was inconvenienced leaving the 1100 metres.

SHE’S THE GOODS – rider App T Brooker was reprimanded under AR137(a)for shifting in leaving the 1100 metres and inconveniencing another runner.

Following the running of this event App I Rabjones, rider of ESSO BESSO,reported she had aggravated a shoulder injury during the running of the event, and after being examined by the Club ambulance officials was stood down from her remaining engagements. I Rabjones was advised she would require a Medical clearance prior to resuming race riding. Riding changes were made as per the Race day summary sheet.

RACE 4: CLASS 4HDCP 1200 Metres

Prior to the declaration of correct weight the judge advised stewards he wished to amend the original semaphored placings of 1st ATTITUDINAL MISS, 2nd LITTLE ELVIS, 3rd ONLINES and 4th WICKENBY. Stewards, after viewing the official photo finish image, and in consultation with the judge, and under the provisions provided by AR156(1), declared correct weight on the amended placings to read 1st ATTITUDINAL MISS , 2nd LITTLE ELVIS, 3rd FALVESA and 4th ONLINES.

THEFORCEBEWITHYOU – blundered on jumping and lost ground.

FALVESA –stewards, in the presence of Jockey advocate S Scriven, questioned App S Lacey over her riding of the mare, particularly from a point leaving the 800 metres until rounding the home-turn. S Lacey stated in her opinion FALVESA had a tendency to hang out in the middle stages of the event, and for that reason was reluctant to improve her position and place her mount inside of runners forward of her from a point between the 800 metres and the 300 metres. App Lacey added she elected to shift wider on the track from that point, and in the home straight the mare continued to shift out under pressure and found the line well. In acknowledging the racing habits of FALVESA, Stewards advised App Lacey in their opinion she had erred in not improving her position from the 800 metres to the inside of runners when an opportunity existed to do so. Trainer B Robinson advised stewards he would make gear alterations to FALVESA and was his intention to now step the mare up in distance.A warning was placed on the racing manners of FALVESA for hanging out.

SERALA – slow to begin.

MISS AMABELLA – over raced in early stages of the event.

MR PENNYPACKER – raced wide throughout.
