Chairman of Stewards – D. McMahon
Stewards – J. Williamson, R. Hanson

GENERAL

Prior to the running of race 1, the track was upgraded to a good 3 at 12:00pm.

EARTHAXEAZE – Raced in restricted room rounding the home turn when MORE THAN XTRA shifted out slightly.

LIPSTICK LIES – Began awkwardly and lost significant ground.

PLATINUM ROSE – Raced wide throughout.

SHOOT THE BOSS – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

RAN NA LADY – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer P. Webster was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing manners.

Race 2: LUCKY BRETTO'S 60TH BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 800M

BIZ CLASS – Began awkwardly.

TA CHANSON – Declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 8:05am after sustaining a laceration to its head.

SCRUFF'N'STUFF – Raced wide throughout.

SUPER EXCEPTIONAL – Stewards permitted the mare to race in standard front race tips. Reared as the start was effected, became unbalanced and as a result jockey M. Savva was dislodged. Jockey M. Savva was examined by the QAS officials and cleared to fulfil her remaining engagements at Toowoomba. SUPER EXCEPTIONAL underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer J. Sims was advised that the mare would require a further barrier certificate prior to next racing.

CRAIGLEA LAKI – Raced wide throughout.

Race 3: BURNETT TO THE BEACH SERIES - HEAT - RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1200M

NINE CIGARS – Obliged to alter course near the 200m. Improved onto heels approaching the winning post, and for this reason was not fully tested to the line.

LITERMONT – Declared a late scratching at 1:40pm on veterinary advice after sustaining lacerations to both hindlegs whilst being transported to the track. Trainer A. Park was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing.

ISLE OF BOOTY – Eased down over the final 250m. Apprentice A. Donald reported her mount did not travel comfortably throughout the event and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 4: NOEL BROWN PLUMBING QTIS Maiden Plate 1460M

Correct weight was delayed to allow connections of STELLA ENIGMA to view the footage of the start to ascertain whether the filly had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the available footage, Stewards determined that as the start was effected, the barrier of STELLA ENIGMA was slow to open, and as a result of this, the filly lost considerable ground. Subsequently, Stewards declared the filly a non-starter under AR204(1)(c), and declared correct weight with the following deductions to apply-

1st – 6c the win, 7c the place
2nd – 7c the place
3rd – 7c the place

FITZROY PLAIN – Jockey K. Gates reported her mount attempted to jump the crossing near the 1000m.

SOUTHBROOK FLYER – Stewards permitted Apprentice S. Wilcock to only claim 0.5kg of her 1kg allowance that she was required to claim for this race. Apprentice S. Wilcock was subsequently reprimanded pursuant to AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim her full allowance. Slow into stride. Over raced in the early stages. Trailed the field throughout. Apprentice S. Wilcock reported the mare raced greenly throughout the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer K. Kirwin advised Stewards that he would be discussing the mares immediate racing future with connections.

Race 5: DINNER @ THE GRAND BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1460M

THORNYCROFT (NZ) – Improved into restricted racing room to the inside of TRAIN ROCK, which had hung out near the 1200m, and was tightened for room when that horse shifted in. Apprentice R. Thorburn was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for riding in a careless manner in that he improved into a position where there was insufficient room.

DREAMSEEKER – Near the 1200m, bumped and brushed the running rail before having to be checked when tightened to the inside of THORNYCROFT which was taken in by TRAIN ROCK (M. Butler) which shifted in. Jockey M. Butler was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
