Race 1: XXXX Gold 2yo Maiden Plate – 1100m
Trainer A. Kehoe was fined the sum of $100 for failing to declare a rider for Red Cavalry by the prescribed time.
FLYING ONE MORE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
SHUTTLE MISS – Initially slow to begin and then bumped another runner shortly after the start.
WHISPERING WINGS – Bumped another runner shortly after the start. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
RED CALVARY – Raced greenly near the 600m and shifted out, inconveniencing another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race. When afforded the opportunity to comment on the disappointing performance, rider P. Hammersley stated that the colt was having its first start and raced greenly throughout, however would take benefit form today’s run. Trainer A. Kehoe advised stewards its would be his intention to send the colt for an immediate spell. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
SHEZA HOTTI – Inconvenienced near the 600m. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
LOFN – Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages.
AGENT ALBERT – Rider G. Geran was reminded of his obligations regarding the use of the whip in a backhand manner in the straight.
Race 2: Agricultural Requirements (AR) Gatton 3yo & Up F&M Maiden Plate – 1100m
As M. McGillivray was stood down, A. Fancourt was substituted as the rider of Rapide Et Furieux.
OODLESOO – Slow to begin and lost ground.
SKYLAR’S STAR – Slow to begin.
ISIS MARMALADE – Slow to begin.
SNIP INTO TOWN – Had to be steadied from heels shortly after the start.
MRS BOOLE – Shifted in abruptly near the 800m despite the efforts of its rider, inconveniencing Flinders Luck, which had to be steadied. When racing ungenerously near the 600m shifted out, forcing THE JOYSTICK wider on the track.
FLINDERS LUCK – Steadied near the 800m.
THE JOYSTICK – Forced wider near the 600m. Raced wide throughout.
WHEN IN DOUBT – Raced wide throughout.
Race 3: Lockyer Farm Machinery CG&E Maiden Plate – 1100m
Due to a racebook error, A. Hearn was declared as the rider of Runaway Ruler and Take No Notice. A. Fancourt was substituted as the rider of Take No Notice.
IT WASN’T ME – Began awkwardly and bumped another runner. Rider P. Hammersley reported to stewards that after begining awkwardly the gelding failed to repond when placed under pressure near the 600m and proved disappointing. Trainer T. Thomas stated that the colt raced keenly in the early and middle stages, however was still disappointed with the geldings finishing effort.
RUNAWAY RULER – Tightened for room at the start and bumped.
ISPAHAN – Obliged to ease near the 800m. Rider V. Venkaya reported to stewards that his saddle slipped back shortly after the start, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
BLETCHY BOY – Steadied after improving onto heels near the 600m.
IL PADRONE – Had to be steadied from heels near the 400m. A short distance later had to be steadied and shift wider on the track to obtain clear running.
JACKY LEGS – Raced wide throughout.
SURPRISE RESULT – On entering the home straight shifted in under pressure and bumped JACKY LEGS. Raced wide throughout.
Race 4: Brenton Andrew Racing Class 3 H’cap – 1600m
TESTA MY POLISH – Tightened for room at the start.
STAR FORMATION – Slow to begin.
KAZAN – Slow to begin.
ARTISTIC CHOICE – Inclined to hang out rounding the home turn and had to be restrained from heels.
EXCITING DOLL – Was inclined to lay out in the home straight and near the 300m was reluctant to take a run between runners and shifted wider on the track to obtain clear running.
CAMBO’S MATE – Rider C. Small was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, rider C. Small stated that the gelding overraced in the early and middle stages of the race and, in his opinion, may not have appreciated racing on today’s firm surface. Trainer M. Brosnan agreed with the comments from rider C. Small that the gelding did not appreciate the firm surface, and advised she would report to stewards any abnormality that may come to light in the coming days. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 5: Brooks Earthmoving 0-65 H’cap H’cap – 860m
COME ON LU LU – Raced wide throughout.
BAGGER CHANCE – Raced wide throughout.
Race 6: Lockyer Produce & Farmers Class 1 H’cap - 1100m
YOUNG COPPERFIELD – Declared a late scratching at 3.46 pm by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice after the mare dislodged its rider during the preliminary and galloped a circuit of the course. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on Young Copperfield were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable.

MISSAMORK - A short distance after the start had to be steadied from the heels of ALL OUR WIVES which shifted in when not fully clear. App R. Payne was reprimanded for this incident and advised to show greater care when shifting ground.
PEARLY COURT – Rider B. Stower pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 900m she allowed her mount to shift in initially tightening runners to her inside, and a short distance later made insufficient effort in preventing her mount shifting in further, resulting in Dazet being tightened for room and shifting in, tightening the running of Out Late, which in turn shifted in tightening the running of Loxley, which when being checked made contact with the running rail. B. Stower was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 6 meetings to commence at midnight, 22 April and to expire at midnight, 30 April.
Race 7: Eagle Boys Pizza Rosewood 0-65 H’cap – 1400m
Stewards accepted the explanation into the reason for K. Yoshida being dually engaged on Nandine Road and Earhart. R. Payne was substituted as the rider of Earhart.
CALSON’S FELT – Jumped away awkwardly.
SCENIC ROAD – Made the first corner awkwardly near the 1100m and shifted out, inconveniencing Look At Anything. Apprentice B. Stower commented on the disappointing performance. She stated that the gelding overraced in the early stages in her opinion did not run out a strong 1400m and would be better suited to races over a shorter distance.
LOOK AT ANYTHING – Forced wider by another runner near the 1100m. When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer B. Currie stated the mare did not appreciate the heavy conditions when first up at the Gold Coast on 4 April, and in his opinion was better suited in today’s lesser grade of race. Stewards noted his explanation.
NANDINE ROAD – Placed in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 800m.
TRAVEL IN STYLE – Raced 3 wide from the 900m.
Race 8: Gatton Cup – Sunday, 7 June BM70 H’cap – 1100m
YOU WIN AGAIN – The start of this race was considerably delayed when You Win Again became fractious in the barriers, dislodging rider T. Treichel, who required the attention of the ambulance officers. After being examined T. Treichel was transported to Ipswich Hospital for further observation. You Win Again was declared a late scratching at 5.06 pm by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice with the following deductions applicable.

Trainer P. Nolan was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to You Win Again being permitted to race again.
GENERAL SORRISO – Shifted out at the start, bumping another runner and settled further back in the field than anticipated.
JOHNNYDRAMA – Bumped at start.
STARSTREAMED – Slow to begin.
NOVEMBER GREY – Steadied near the 900m when placed in restricted room.
