GENERAL

As R. McMahon had been stood down by stewards and as D. McIntosh was indisposed due to injury, riding replacements were made as per the Race Day Summary.

Race 1: BROOK'S EARTHMOVING QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1100M

ITHAKOS – Raced three wide throughout without cover. Shifted out under pressure near the 100m and was steadied.

OL’ BROWN EYES – Raced wide in the early stages.

RURAL FLYER – Initially slow to begin and was then further inconvenienced by MYMATESWITY, which shifted out. Raced wide throughout.

TRIPLE WON – Raced wide in the early stages.

BEER ‘N’ BARMAID – J. Taylor reported that his mount was reluctant to muster early speed as a result of the windy conditions, however ran home fairly in the home straight and in his opinion would appreciate a step up in distance.

SOMERSET DAWN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SMILING MISTRESS (B. Stower), which shifted in near the 200m. Apprentice B. Stower was advised to exercise more care.

MYMATESWIFTY – Hung out rounding the home turn.

Race 2: LOCKYER FARM MACHINERY MAIDEN H'CAP – 1100M

ROCKONI – Began awkwardly, bumped with another runner. Raced wide throughout.

STAR OF PIAF – Raced four wide throughout.

YULETIDE – Bumped with another runner at the start. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight, proving difficult to ride out.

SOPHIA’S MAGIC – Slow to begin.

FOR OF US – Raced three wide throughout.

HEART OF THE SUN – Blundered on jumping and shifted in bumping SNACK ON THE RUN.

Race 3: GATTON MOTEL/GOLD STAR PAINTING MAIDEN PLATE – 1600M

Stewards opened an inquiry into the tactics adopted on TOMMY’S HI (C. Schmidt) and PROVACATEUR (S. Eilbeck), particularly in the early stages when both horses led the remainder of the field by a considerable distance. After taking initial evidence from both riders and the connections of the respective horses, stewards adjourned the inquiry to a date to be fixed.

BAY DREAMER – Shifted in at the start.

FLASH MAGIC – Tightened for room on jumping away.

KAMIRI LAD – Bled both nostrils, first time. Ineligible to start for 3 months and before resuming racing the gelding must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward.

LUCKY ILLUSION – Tightened for room on jumping away, had to be restrained and lost ground.

DON’T LOOK ETHLEN – Tightened for room on jumping away, had to be restrained and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.

PINK CHAPERONE – Shifted out at the start. Laid out near the 1100m, becoming awkward on the heels of another runner.

PROVOCATEUR – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

WATASTORY – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Trainer C. Kilshaw reported after the event that the horse had a laceration above the nearside eye.

DIAMOND RACER – Raced wide throughout. Raced ungenerously for a short distance leaving the 200m and had to be steadied.

CRESCENT GLOW – Tightened for room on jumping away.

Race 4: RAW FRESH (SYD) MARKETS BM80 H'CAP – 1600M

ESCOFFIER – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground. Raced wide in the early stages. Apprentice L. Londregan was reprimanded for using the whip in a forehand manner more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

Race 5: HISTORICAL LOCKYER HOTEL (FOREST HLL) CLASS 3 PLATE – 860M

The start of this race was delayed when CASUAL CONNECTIONS proved difficult to load.

THOMAS THE TANK –Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.

GEN WHY – Began awkwardly.

LADY SCHILLER – Slow to begin.

DANNI’S DIVA – Slow to begin.

Race 6: CPT PROPERTIES CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1100M

WAR FRONT – Slow to begin. When given the opportunity to comment on the horse’s performance, G. Geran stated that after being slow to begin his mount then travelled only reasonably during the middle stages of the event, however ran on fairly in the home straight and in his opinion would be better suited in races over a further distance than today’s event. Trainer K. Kemp agreed with the appraisal of jockey Geran and advised that at the next start he will look to stepping the horse up in distance.

TRADE MARKER – Tightened for room shortly after the start and became unbalanced.

BLETCHY BOY – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

MUTUAL BENEFIT – Steadied from heels shortly after the start.

SERAPHIMS – Shifted in and away from TRADE MARKER near the 1000m despite the efforts of its rider, bumped the hind quarters of POMPEII FLYER, then continued to lay in resulting in POMPEII FLYER having to be steadied. When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, rider K. Yoshida stated that this was the first occasion that the horse had worn blinkers and as a result it tended to overrace in the early and middle stages, which was a telling factor on the horse’s finishing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ROMP IT IN – Began awkwardly, bumped another runner and lost ground.

NO NEGATIVE WAVES – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

HIGH DEGREE – Bumped at the start.
Race 7: LOCKYER VALLEY GROWERS RACEDAY SAT 29/8/15 BM70 H'CAP – 1400M

EXTREME MOVER – Raced wide throughout.

DOUBLE EAGLE – Had to be steadied and shift inwards approaching the 300m to avoid the heels of I’M THE ONE (B. Appo), which momentarily stepped in before being corrected and shifting back out. In this incident BILLABONG BIRD, which was racing to the inside of DOUBLE EAGLE, shifted out when being steadied and had to be checked to avoid that horse’s heels. Whilst stewards could not be satisfied that B. Appo was fully responsible for the incident, he was nonetheless severely reprimanded and advised to make greater effort to keep his mount straight in similar circumstances.

OMISSION – Began awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with MANFRED THE MAN, then shifted in, making contact with I’M THE ONE. Commenced to overrace near the 1100m, shifted out, became awkward at the heels of another runner and as a result lost ground.

LOOK AT ANYTHING – Tightened for room near the 1100m and checked when racing to the outside of OMISSION which shifted out whilst hanging out despite the efforts of its rider.

STIGORI – Forced wider on the track by another runner near the 1100m. Raced wide throughout. Hung in near the 850m, became awkward on the heels of EXTREME MOVER and had to be restrained.
