The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes owing to ORO requiring farrier attention after casting its near fore plate on route to the barriers.

CASROCK – Jumped away awkwardly. Knuckled a short distance after the start and lost ground. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in the early stages of the event and whether there was an opportunity to maintain a position behind MISHANI MISTRESS in the early stages, a position that was obtained by HEARSAY, jockey B Appo stated that after beginning awkwardly, he was unable to obtain a position on the speed and rather be trapped wide without cover, he elected to shift to a position on the rail behind MISHANI MISTRESS. He added that he was mindful that HEARSAY who was having its first start was being ridden vigorously to his outside to cross and rather than pressure his mount and risk CASROCK overracing and having to be restrained off heels, he elected to keep CASROCK balanced and allowed HEARSAY to cross to the position behind MISHANI MISTRESS. Stewards noted jockey Appo’s explanation in regard to taking up a position on the rail but advised jockey Appo that in their opinion he could have placed his mount under more pressure in an effort to maintain the position behind MISHANI MISTRESS.
