GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting:

Race 2 - CHAYSE ‘N’ MENARI - T See +1/2kg
Race 6 – BEEOKAY – C. Taylor +1kg
Race 9 – THE KNIGHT – C. Taylor +1kg
 
Trainer G. Hay was fined $300 pursuant to LR 36(6) for failing to scratch ME MUM’S FOXY, which was a dual acceptor at today’s meeting, from one of the races it was engaged in by the prescribed time.
 
Trainer N. McCall was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider for LUCIFER’S LOOT, engaged in race 6, by the prescribed time.
 
As M Butler was unable to attend due to transport issues and M Wishart was indisposed after Race 3, Stewards permitted riding changes as per the Race Day summary sheet.
 
 
Race 1: GOODYEAR AUTOCARE GATTON Maiden Plate 860 metres
 
GROOVIN' THE MOO – Slow to begin.
 
BRING THE ROMANCE – Slow to begin.
 
CONTESSA NILE – Slow to begin.
 
PEZZI QUARANTA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
UNO MOON – Put in an awkward stride approaching the finish line.
 
BELLA BIANCA – Near the 150m shifted in abruptly when struck with the whip and continued to lay in for the remainder of the event.
 
PEROVSKAYA – On arrival at the barriers underwent a veterinary examination at the request of its rider and was cleared to start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SHOTGUN SAM – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 2: LVTC PREMIERSHIP WINNER APP. JOCKEY JASMINE CORNISH Maiden Plate 860 metres
 
DUSKY DANCER – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
MORE MAX – Near the 700m shifted out and away from NORTHERN WATER resulting in MISS SPONTANEOUS being steadied from the heels of CHAYSE 'N' MENARI. Checked when taken outwards by NORTHERN WATER rounding the home turn.
 
RHAPALONG – Raced wide throughout the event. Rounding the home turn was bumped on the hindquarters, became unbalanced and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CHARMING SAM – Fractious leaving the saddling enclosure. Trainer M Fry was advised a warning would be placed on the horse’s pre-race manners. Leaving the 200m disappointed for a run to the inside of NORTHERN WATER which shifted in when racing greenly.
 
FIABLE ROSE – As M Butler was delayed due to transport issues, Stewards permitted K Zechner to ride the horse. Slow to begin. Put in an awkward stride approaching the finish line.
 
SUNIKI – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
CHAYSE 'N' MENARI – Raced wide throughout the event. T See was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) for use of the whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
 
NORTHERN WATER – Laid out rounding the home turn when racing greenly resulting in MORE MAX being checked and taken outwards and bumping the hindquarters of RHAPALONG which became unbalanced and lost ground. Laid in leaving the 200m when continuing to race greenly. A warning was placed on the horse’s racing manners.
 
MISS SPONTANEOUS – Crowded for room and lost ground shortly after the start when CHAYSE 'N' MENARI shifted in when. T See, rider of CHAYSE 'N' MENARI was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) in this incident.
 
 
 
Race 3: LVTC PREMIERSHIP WINNER JOCKEY LES TILLEY BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 860 metres
 
On return to scale a protest was lodged by G Cartwright, rider of second placegetter KINDLING SPIRIT, against first past the post BARONESSA (B Thornton) alleging interference near the 150m. After viewing the patrol footage and hearing submissions from both parties, Stewards found that at a point near the 150m BARONESSA shifted in marginally however could not be comfortably satisfied that KINDLING SPIRIT had fully established a run to the inside of BARONESSA at that point and therefore dismissed the protest and correct weight declared on the semaphored placings.
 
OAKFIELD COMANCHE – Raced wide with cover throughout the event.
 
SONGZILLA – Raced wide throughout the event. Rider M Wishart reported the horse was inclined to hang out at various stages of the event and may not have backed up from its most recent start at Ipswich 12th August2022.
 
BARONESSA – Made the home turn awkwardly.
 
KINDLING SPIRIT – Blundered rounding the home turn and became unbalanced. Near 150m became awkwardly placed at the heels of PEACHIES DREAM and was obliged to shift out across the heels of BARONESSA to obtain clear running.
 
PEACHIES DREAM – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
AIN'TSHESERIOUS – Slow to begin.
 
LADY TULESSA – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
 
 
Race 4: LVTC PREMIERSHIP WINNER TRAINER MARK CURRIE Maiden Plate 1600 metres
 
BARTA LINES – Improved onto heels near the 1200m, shifted out and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
CURLEY'S PRIDE – Jumped in at the start.
 
KABALEGA – Bumped on jumping between SAMURAI SUN which jumped out and CURLEY'S PRIDE which jumped in. Inconvenienced and taken wider near the 1200m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
POWER PUNCH – Slow to begin.
 
STAR OF ADELAIDE – When asked to comment on tactics adopted particularly to lead the event, rider J Adams advised no set instructions were issued and that he anticipated racing in a handy position however when no early speed was shown by other runners, and with STAR OF ADELAIDE beginning well, he elected to take up the lead shortly after the start. Stewards accepted the explanation.
 
GODDESS GLOW – Over-raced on heels near the 1200m.
 
SAMURAI SUN – Jumped out at the start. Improved onto heels near the 1200m and raced wide for the remainder of the event. When asked to comment on the performance, rider R Fradd advised the horse never travelled at any stage of the event and was disappointing, adding SAMURAI SUN may be better suited to a bigger track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
CHAKRA – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages of the event.
 
 
 
Race 5: TAB QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, A Thompson, rider of third placegetter ASHMOLEAN, viewed the patrol footage before taking the matter no further.
 
PRIMED FOR VICTORY – Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
CLEARLY GEORGE – Steadied from the heels of NAUGHTY NINJA near the 400m. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
AUNTY HAZEL – Bumped on jumping. Apprentice J Molloy, rider of AUNTY HAZEL, was fined $300 pursuant to AR 211 for returning to scale in excess of 0.5kg overweight.
 
DRAGON SONG - Slow to begin.
 
ASHMOLEAN – Hampered near the 600m. Near the 300m bumped heavily by PRIMED FOR VICTORY which was taken out by MISS GIDEON. Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
GURU CLASS – Jumped out at the start and bumped AUNTY HAZEL. Near the 600m when over-racing improved onto the heels of PLAINTIFF'S FRIEND and shifted out abruptly hampering ASHMOLEAN. Laid out rounding the home turn placing PLAINTIFF'S FRIEND awkwardly at the heels of TAKERU. Shifted in under pressure near the 100m.
 
MISS GIDEON – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
NAUGHTY NINJA – Bumped rounding the home turn when PRIMED FOR VICTORY shifted out to improve. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
TAKERU – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
 
 
Race 6: TEMPORARY FENCE & BARRIER HIRE Class 4 Handicap 1100 metres
 
LUCIFER'S LOOT – Jumped awkwardly resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
COAT OF ARMS – Made the 800m turn awkwardly, became unbalanced and shifted out.
 
ROGUE STAR – Slow to muster speed in the early stages. Near the 900m checked to avoid the heels of HODGSON. In the presence of co-master M Hoysted, apprentice E Lang, rider of HODGSON, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 900m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of ROGUE STAR, which was checked and shifted outwards, resulting in WHO SHOT MAGGIE and MORNAY both being crowded for room and lose ground. The licence of E Lang to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 28th August up to and including midnight 4th September 2022. Approaching the 150m disappointed for a run to the inside of LUCIFER'S LOOT before shifting to the outside to secure clear running.
 
WHO SHOT MAGGIE – Bumped with MORNAY on jumping away. Crowded for room and lost ground near the 900m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the near foreleg. Trainer R Tyrell was advised WHO SHOT MAGGIE would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
MORNAY – Bumped with WHO SHOT MAGGIE on jumping away. Raced in restricted room leaving the 1000m. Crowded for room and lost ground near the 900m. Rider R Fradd reported the horse did not travel from that point for the remainder of the race.
 
EASY COME – Laid in shortly after the start.
 
 
 
Race 7: MCNEIL FARMS BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1100 metres
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, T. Marshall, rider of second placegetter ME MUM’S FOXY, viewed the patrol footage before taking the matter no further.
 
SWAN ISLAND – Bumped at the start. Stewards spoke to Apprentice O. Kendall regarding her failing to continue to ride her mount to end of the race. Stewards in assessing the matter, whilst critical of her actions considering the distance from the finishing line upon which she ceased riding as well as the margin between her mount and the second placed horse, took no further action against apprentice Kendall other than to remind her of her obligations regarding riding her mounts out to the end of the race.
 
JAYDEE INDY – Jumped in at the start and bumped MISHANI ESPRIT.
 
WHITEBAIT PATTIE - Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
MISHANI ESPRIT – Bumped at the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider J Taylor reported the horse was one paced and would benefit with a step up in distance.
 
ME MUM'S FOXY – Slow to begin. Near the 600m raced in restricted for a short distance to the inside of WHITEBAIT PATTIE which laid in before being corrected by its rider. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
PETA CALADA – Jumped out at the start and bumped SWAN ISLAND
 
BEEOKAY – Rider reported his saddle shifted over the concluding stages which placed him at some disadvantage.
 
 
Race 8: KLUCK FARMS Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1400 metres
 
ABB ROY – Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event. When asked to comment on the performance rider P Hamblin advised ABB ROY settled further back in the field than anticipated, and as a result of the slow pace in the early and middle stages over-raced, which had a detrimental effect on the finishing performance of the horse.
 
VINTAGE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
MY SHAMANA – Slow to begin. Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
MARCADA – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. Approaching the 50m momentarily steadied from the heels of YIA MISS which shifted out from the heels of KIKI COCO.
 
YIA MAS – Raced keenly at the heels of FANTOME LADY for some distance near the 1200m.
 
ASTROPHYSICS – Slow to begin. Raced wide with cover in the middle stages of the event.
 
 
 
Race 9: THANK YOU TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS FOR FY21-22 SEASON Colts, Geldings & Entires Benchmark 58 Handicap 1400 metres
 
ARTIE'S DESTINY – Slow to begin.
 
PERNELL – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance rider J Grobb reported instructions were to have the horse midfield, however after being slowly away PERNELL raced at the rear of the field and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure, adding the horse felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J Bellamy advised that going forward he would remove the winkers and add blinkers, and in addition would be looking to start PERNELL on bigger tracks going forward. Mr Bellamy also advised he would report any condition which may come to light in the coming days that may have had a bearing on the horse’s performance.
 
STATIC LIFT – Slow to muster speed in the early stages.
 
MODERN FAMILY – From the wide barrier restrained after the start to a rearward position closer to the rails.
 
 
 
Race 10: CHAMBER OF COMMERCE RACEDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1600 metres
 
HE'S VIRAL – Raced three wide without cover throughout the event. Checked leaving the 200m when FIORENA shifted out when being corrected by its rider after it had shifted in and contacted THE CROW MAN.
 
SPURIOUS – The saddle on the horse shifted leaving the 400m placing its rider at some disadvantage. Shifted in abruptly at the entrance to home straight resulting in C Meehan becoming unbalanced for a short distance.
 
CLOUDY MISS – Hampered on jumping between THE CROW MAN and EXTASSY.
 
EXTASSY – Hampered at the start when SPURIOUS jumped in. Hampered leaving the 200m when HE’S VIRAL was checked from heels.
 
FIORENA - Shifted in approaching the 200m and contacted THE CROW MAN.
 
THE ANGELS KISS – Slow to begin. Rider C Taylor desisted from pressuring the horse over the concluding stages after he felt something may be amiss with THE ANGELS KISS. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer A Briskey advised he would report any condition which may come to light in the coming days that may explain the performance.
 
BIZOU – Made the home turn awkwardly.
