GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting-
 
Race 7 – MAROON MAGIC – M Cahill +1kg (55kg)
Race 8 – BACKSEAT PROMISE – M Cahill +0.5kg (55kg)
 
Race 1: ARRON KENNEDY MEMORIAL Maiden Plate 1900 metres
 
CEE EYE CEE – Raced three-wide from the 1400m. Had a tendency to lay in leaving the 1000m.
 
CRIMSON REWARD – Connections advised that it is the intention for the gelding to be ridden further forward if circumstance permit. Worked forward and was caught wide in the early stages before being restrained behind the leaders near the 1200m. Shifted in at the start.
 
HE'S A HOTFOOT (NZ) – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
SAVVY STRYKE – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start.
 
I'M A RULER – Laid out rounding the home turn. Apprentice J. Williams advised stewards that it was the stable instructions that if the gelding began well, to take up a forward position adding that the horse had previously raced in a leading position however at its prior two starts it was slow to begin, and for this reason it had settled further back at its previous two starts.
 
WITH DIAMONDS – Jockey A. Spinks advised at scale that it was his intention to settle further forward however after being slow to begin and hampered shortly after the start, he settled at the rear of the field. Jockey Spinks further added that the filly did not appreciate the kickback of the synthetic racing surface.
 
Race 2: Martin Collins Australia QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1050 metres
 
WELUVYA – Shifted out on jumping and bumped AFFINITY FLYER. Cast its near-fore plate in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
 
WONFORWAZZA – Raced wide throughout. Raced greenly throughout.
 
JUST FOR PLEASURE – Began awkwardly and then hampered shortly after. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
OBJECTOR – Raced wide throughout.
 
AFFINITY FLYER – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
BONNIE GEE GEE – Commenced to over race in the early stages and got its head up for a number of strides. Continued to over race throughout the middle stages. Jockey M Cahill advised Stewards that the filly had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages which may have had a detrimental effect on its finishing effort.
 
EMPRESS ZIGGY – Fractious upon arrival at the barriers and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, which revealed a minor abrasion to the left hindleg, and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room leaving the 1000m and had to be momentarily steadied when MA’S EPIC shifted in. Apprentice B. Wheeler the rider of MA’S EPIC was advised to allow greater clearance when crossing inside runners.
 
RUSSIAN INN – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 3: Ascot Lodge Racing Maiden Plate 1050 metres
 
MY DOG DIESEL – Raced wide throughout.
 
ROMAN HUSSLER – Raced in restricted room approaching the 1000m. Laid out near the 800m.
 
PRINCE OF POP – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
SLAVA IOLA MYIOLIO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
MARLEEDOONE – Raced wide throughout.
 
REAL MINT – Cast its off-fore plate in running.
 
Race 4: Brisbane Airport Hotels Group BM58 Handicap 1100 metres
 
EXPRESSO LOVE – Approaching the 400m, improved onto heels.
 
BOLD RANSOM – Slow to begin and hampered shortly after. Over raced in the middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
I AM VOODOO – Jumped a shadow near the 1000m and became unbalanced momentarily. Leaving the 900m, raced in restricted room and had to be steadied for a number of strides as a result of BOLD RANSOM laying in. Steward’s whilst noting the racing characteristics of BOLD RANSOM still issued Apprentice D. McGillivray a severe reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a), as Stewards were of the opinion that apprentice McGillivray could have made greater effort to prevent his mount from shifting in at that point.
 
BEST TO HURRY – Shortly after the start became awkward at heels and had to be steadied.
 
MILLIFFE – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 5: Kollosche Maiden Plate 1540 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed to allow for the broadcast of an interstate event.
 
BLUSHING LUCAS – Raced keenly at heels leaving the 800m.
 
DOUBLE QUICK – Approaching the 500m, laid out.
 
IN CLOSE REACH – Raced wide for the majority. Jockey M. Cahill advised stewards that in his opinion the gelding was not suited by the fast tempo set and was under pressure from the 700m point. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
KURABENII – Approaching the 1400m, became awkward at heels and had to be steadied. Apprentice J. Williams was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
PASSING OUT – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the middle stages.
 
FRENCH MINER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an extremely poor post-race recovery with elevated vitals. Trainer V Coombes was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing.
 
VAN D'ORO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.

Race 6: SCI-FLEET HINO BM58 Handicap 2000 metres
 
TEA LEAVES – Over raced in the early stages. Laid out under pressure near the 500m. Raced in restricted room approaching the 200m. Leaving the 200m became awkwardly placed at heels.
 
SHADYVALE STORM – Apprentice B. Wheeler was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
DAULAT TAI PANAZIZ – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
I'MTIMMYZOU – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, Apprentice C. Waddell stated that the gelding was stepping up in distance from its previous start at 1400m and was hopeful of securing a position with cover in the early stages, however this did not eventuate, and she then allowed the horse to stride forward in effort to secure a more forward position. Apprentice Waddell went on to explain that she did not exert the gelding further in an effort to cross DAMIANI approaching the 1400m point as she felt that this would have required too much effort of the gelding, so she elected to remain racing in a three-wide position. Apprentice Waddell after reviewing the replays with Stewards concurred with Stewards that she had erred in not allowing her mount to improve forward of DAMIANI leaving the 1400, however bearing in mind her status as an apprentice rider, Stewards s took the matter no further.
 
PATTI WAGGIN – Slow to begin, hampered shortly after and lost ground. Over raced in the early stages when the pace of the race was only steady.
 
TORQUE LEICA STAR – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey T. Brooker advised that the filly travelled well throughout, however when placed under pressure, failed to quicken as expected and was disappointing in its finishing effort. Steward’s will follow up with trainer S. Kendrick regarding the performance of the filly.
 
FEUDALIST – Raced wide throughout.
 
VANCITY – Jumped in at the start. Over raced in the early stages when the pace of the race was only steady. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 7: TAB WE'RE ON Class 1 Handicap 1050 metres
 
MODESTO – Trainer C Jokic was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to notify a rider within the prescribed time. Bumped shortly after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled bilaterally. Trainer C. Jokic advised to Stewards that it is her intention to retire the gelding, however, Stewards still advised trainer Jokic of the provisions of AR79(4).
 
KING KRYPTOS – Slow to begin and then raced in restricted room shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
NAVY BLACK – Bumped shortly after the start. Apprentice D. McGillivray advised Stewards that after being bumped at the start the filly failed to muster sufficient speed to hold a forward position. Apprentice McGillivray further added that he allowed NAVY BLACK to travel where comfortable, and the filly finished off the race well, adding that in his opinion it would appreciate a step up in distance at its next start.
 
DEVILS WHERE – Began very awkwardly, resulting in the rider becoming momentarily unbalanced. Apprentice J. Williams dropped his whip approaching the 200m.
 
MAROON MAGIC – Raced wide for the majority.
 
SUPER ART – Began awkwardly and lost ground after bumping with NAVY BLACK. Improved onto heels near the 800m and shifted out. Held up rounding the home turn. Approaching the 250m, shifted in when attempting a run between DEVILS WHERE and KLINSMANN and had to be steadied from heels before shifting outwards leaving the 200m.
 
CUDDLES – Slow to begin.
 
Race 8: HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE Class 1 Handicap 1540 metres
 
MARTINI DANCER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MR EIGHTY EIGHT (NZ) – Bumped heavily on jumping. Jockey N. Callow advised that the gelding travelled well until placed under pressure leaving the 500m point and was disappointing in its finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SIR BEVERIDGE – Apprentice E. Lang was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
MAC MONTY – Near the 500m, improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Held up from the 500m until entering the home straight. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
PAGATO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages. Apprentice J. Williams pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the finish line and was fined $400. In considering penalty, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that Apprentice Williams’ actions had cost PAGATO 4th place.
 
AIDEN – Bumped heavily on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Jockey M Hellyer was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
ROWLETT – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
FANTWA – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LIGHT'S VISION – Began awkwardly and bumped shortly after. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
RENAULT – Shifted in on jumping and bumped LIGHT’S VISION. Raced wide from the 900m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
