1st – No Thankyou Ali 2nd – Water Boy 3rd – Onemore For Wilson 4th – Mandryka

Correct weight was delayed whilst stewards considered the following objections:-

1. 3rd (ONEMORE FOR WILSON) –v- 2nd (WATERBOY)
2. 3rd (ONEMORE FOR WILSON) –v -1st (NO THANKYOU ALL)
3. 2nd (WATERBOY) –v- 1st (NO THANKYOU ALL)

After considering the evidence of all parties and reviewing the patrol footage stewards made the following findings:-

1. WATER BOY shifted in over the concluding stages and made slight contact with ONEMORE FOR WILSON. However, bearing in mind the vicinity of the incident to the finish and the margin of a ½ length stewards could not be satisfied this incident warranted a reversal of placings and dismissed the protest.

2. Stewards conceded that NO THANKYOU ALI shifted out and bumped ONEMORE FOR WILSON upon straightening. However, stewards were not satisfied that the interference exceeded the finishing margin between the two runners and bearing in mind the way in which both horses finished the race off dismissed the protest.

3. Stewards were of the view that any interference suffered by WATER BOY upon straightening was as a result of SHE’S MISS LIPPY shifting out from behind ONEMORE FOR WILSON to obtain clear running. As stewards did not believe that this interference was caused by NO THANKYOU ALI the protest was dismissed.

Jockey Galloway added that after beginning on terms he allowed PROFILER to push forward of him in an effort to comply with those instructions however, SPIRIT TORQUE, which also drew inside him, remained in a one wide position. Jockey Galloway explained that as a result he was obliged to restrain the gelding to obtain cover behind SPIRIT TORQUE, which resulted in him racing further back than anticipated.

Race 9: RCI Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Hidden Road 2nd – Steps To Stardom 3rd – Fortunate Four 4th – Real Gene

CUBAN GAL – As Michael Palmer was injured stewards permitted Matthew Palmer to be substituted as the rider.

HIDDEN ROAD – When questioned as to the improved performance trainer G. Pollock stated that the gelding failed to settle and race comfortably when ridden at its previous start and as a result weakened over the concluding stages. Mr Pollock added that with the addition of pacifiers and the removal of winkers the gelding travelled comfortably in the lead and was able to finish off the race better than it did at its last start. App M. Powell was fined $200.00 for failing to provide a medical certificate. After being examined by the on course doctor App Powell was cleared to take his ride.
