SUPPLEMENTARY:

From Gold Coast Turf Club Meeting 20/6/2015 – Race 5

When questioned as to his riding of JETSET LAD over the final 400m jockey C. Whiteley stated that rounding the home turn he was content to track the favourite LUCKY LAGO into the race. Jockey Whiteley added that he was reluctant to shift to the inside at this point as the going on the inside was inferior in his opinion. Jockey Whiteley further added that when LUCKY LAGO failed to take him into the race as expected he shifted wider approaching the 300m and placed the gelding under pressure however, after leaving the 200m he had difficulty obtaining clear running to the outside of MADE TO ORDER and as a result was unable to fully test the gelding over the concluding stages.

Race 1: Scyon Walls & Floors QTSI 3YO Maiden Plate – 900m
1st – Cheering 2nd – Fell From Heaven 3rd – Grey Rena 4th – Dr Deejay

DADDY LONGLEGS – As App J Hodge was not licensed to ride at provincial meetings stewards permitted App S. Eilbeck to be replaced as the rider. Bumped upon jumping away. Near the 700m had to be steadied from the heels of FELL FROM HEAVEN and in doing so shifted in tightening the running of CHEERING.

CHEERING – Jockey C. Whiteley was inadvertently declared as the replacement for App T. Stone without the permission of stewards. As this information had already been released publicly stewards allowed jockey Whiteley to remain as the rider. Bumped on jumping away. Attempted to buck shortly after the start. Trainer K. Goldman was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing manners. Had to be steadied when tightened for room near the 700m.

GREY RENA – Had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of DADDY LONGLEGS shortly after the start. Near the 700m had to be steadied from heels and shifted wider. Raced greenly in the home straight.

EARL OF FORDYCE – Raced greenly in the home straight. Raced wide throughout.


Race 2: Grand Motors Toyota Fillies & Mares Class 2 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Scarlet Jane 2nd – Spirit Torque 3rd – *Amata 4th – Bergdorf

AMATA – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

BERGDORF – Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.

CHOPHOUSE TEARS – Was inclined to shift out when under pressure over the final 200m. Jockey N. Masuda advised it was not his intention to lead today however, he was unable to restrain the filly in the early stages to obtain cover and as a result allowed it to stride forward to lead. Then continued to overrace in the middle stages.

SCARLET JANE – Jockey N. Day was fined $500.00 for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.


Race 3: Corinthian Doors Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – I Doubt I Can 2nd – Marlene Adele 3rd – Red Hot Element 4th – Grey Not Black

SKYSAIL – Trainer K. Nipperess advised the gelding would be ridden further back in the field from the wide barrier today if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Raced fiercely in the early stages and made contact with the running rail near the 1000m then shifted out and raced wide for the remainder of the race. Jockey Stanley recommended to connections that the gelding would be better suited without blinkers if ridden back in the future.

PALEFACE ALI – Began awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia and had sustained a laceration to the near fore pastern. Trainer B. Ahrens was advised that the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of stewards and a veterinary certificate with the results of an ECG must be produced prior to it next start.

MY SHANIA – Slow to begin.

JACKY LEGS – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

JEWELLERY THIEF – Taken wider passing the 1000m by MARLENE ADELE, which was inclined to overrace. Raced 3 wide without cover for the remainder. Jockey S. Galloway reported that the filly failed to quicken as expected in today’s soft conditions.

MARLENE ADELE – Overraced in the early stages.

I’M O’REILLY – Improved onto heels and had to be steadied near the 700m. A short distance later had to again be steadied when tightened for room by BRILLIANT SUNSET.

BRILLIANT SUNSET – Improved onto heels and had to be steadied near the 700m. Then continued to overrace for some distance thereafter and shifted in. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare had suffered a bleeding attack during the event. Trainer A. Willick was advised the mare will incur a mandatory 3 month ban from racing and must compete in a 1000m gallop prior to racing again.

CHEPSTOW – Raced wide throughout.

I DOUBT I CAN – Raced wide throughout.

RED HOT ELEMENT – Jockey C. Whiteley reported it was not his intention to lead today however, after beginning well from an awkward alley he allowed the filly to stride forward resulting in it settling outside the leader today.


Race 4: Easy Mix Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 2 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Dancing Warrior 2nd – Piccard 3rd – Polynikes 4th – Regal Trader

The start was delayed when DANCING WARRIOR proved difficult to load resulting in it shifting a near hind plate which was subsequently removed. The stable was advised the gelding must compete in an official barrier trial prior to its next start.

SUM IT UP – Slow to begin.

STEERING – Slow to begin.

DANCING WARRIOR – Approaching the 1000m had to be steadied when tightened for room and was then bumped by POLYNIKES. App K. Stanley (JETASAN) was issued with a severe reprimand for shifting in when not sufficiently clear of other runners resulting in DANCING WARRIOR having to be steadied. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

POLYNIKES – Approaching the 1000m had to be steadied when tightened for room. Near the 900m had to again be steadied from the heels of REGAL TRADER.

GOLFING – Near the 300m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of JETASAN.

JETASAN – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the off side hind leg consistent with being galloped on.


Race 5: Methven Australia Ratings Band 0-70 H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Walhaan 2nd – Surface Tension 3rd – Tertiary 4th – Iniquity

CHILLY PREDICTION – Slow to begin. Overraced during the middle stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

MAIN STREET – Slow to begin.

REVITALISE – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages.

LUCKY DAY KID – Slow to begin.

CLONMACNOISE – Raced wide in the early stages.

WALHAAN – Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn.

INIQUITY – Held up approaching the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Jockey C. Whiteley was fined $100.00 for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.

STUBOY – Had to be steadied when disappointed for a run on straightening.

SURFACE TENSION – App S. Eilbeck accidentally dropped her whip near the 200m.

FORELOCK – When questioned as to the performance jockey A. Spinks stated that he was not concerned with the tempo being set when leading in the early and middle stages. Jockey Spinks added the mare failed to handle the soft conditions, which in his opinion resulted in it compounding over the final 400m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.


Race 6: Dewalt Class 5 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Tuned In 2nd – Rainbow Magic 3rd – Hora Sexta 4th – Moonlight Nova

Correct weight was also delayed to enable App S. Eilbeck the rider of 2nd placegetter RAINBOW MAGIC to view the patrol footage to ascertain whether she had grounds over the final 200m to lodge a protest against the winner TUNED IN (App K. Stanley). After viewing the film App Eilbeck advised that she did not wish to proceed and correct weight was declared.

EYE WINSOME – Slow to begin. Passing the 700m improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Held up from the 400m to the 200m. Jockey N. Day was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.

VICTORVETO – Raced wide throughout.

SKATING AWAY – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

A FINE DROP OF RED – When questioned as to the performance App A. Fancourt stated that she was able to settle in her intended position just behind the leaders however, the mare was under pressure rounding the home turn and proved disappointing. App Fancourt added that the mare was unusually fractious in the enclosure and felt the mare may have resented racing in a tongue tie. App Fancourt had recommended to connections to experiment with its gear.


Race 7: Ametalin Insulation Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Star Wars 2nd – Betterthanyouthink 3rd – Falzini 4th – Maraska

COURT ADITION – Trainer K. Nipperess advised the gelding would be ridden further back in the field from the wide barrier today if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Raced wide throughout.

WORLD SERIES – Began awkwardly.

GREY MATTER – Began awkwardly.

MARASKA – Bumped on jumping away. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

IF EVER - Raced wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to obtain a position outside the leader.

NO MAGIC NEEDED – Bumped on jumping away. Overraced in the early stages. App A. Fancourt reported that the gelding resented racing in amongst other horses and may benefit with the addition of blinkers.

STAR WARS – Raced wide throughout.

BETTERTHANYOUTHINK – Jockey J. Morris was fined $300.00 for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.

FALZINI - Jockey K. Wharton was fined $100.00 for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.

MELBOURNE BILLY – Jockey J. Stanley reported that the gelding overraced in the early and middle stages.
