Race 2: Toxfree Ratings Band 0-62 H’cap – 1800m
1st – Seize The Fire 2nd – Floral Nomad 3rd – Hyperactive 4th – Angel’s Destiny

Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey J Morris the rider of Hyperactive which finished 4th against ANGEL’S DESTINY (M Hellyer) being declared the 3rd placegetter on the grounds of alleged interference near the 400m and in the early part of the straight. On the evidence it was established that ANGEL’S DESTINY shifted out rounding the home turn presenting a run to HYPERACTIVE however, shifted back in resulting in HYPERACTIVE having to be checked and shifted out. The stewards were of the opinion that the degree of interference suffered by HYPERACTIVE exceeded the nose margin between the two horses at the finish and therefore they upheld the objection and amended the placings accordingly.

At a subsequent Inquiry Jockey M Hellyer pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that he permitted ANGEL’S DESTINY to shift in when being ridden along and not clear of HYPERACTIVE resulting in that runner being checked. Jockey Hellyer was suspended from riding in races to commence midnight 06/09/2015 and to expire midnight 17/09/2015.

MAGINNIS MAGEE – Over-raced approaching the 1500m and had to be restrained from heels.

When questioned as to the performance, Jockey L Rolls stated that in the early stages he found a nice position, however, when PARTY TILL DAWN was restrained in front, SUPER KANGAROO which was following commenced to over-race and shifted out taking him 3 wide. He said as a result he was left in that position and then raced awkwardly at heels near the 500m and again near the 300m. Jockey Rolls added that despite these occurrences in his opinion the gelding was disappointing.
