SUPPLEMENTARY:
As Jockey Jasen Watkins was indisposed through injury rider replacements were made as per Stewards’ Race Day Summary.


Race 1: Emandar Group Maiden H’cap – 1400m
1st – Near The City 2nd – Akacheta Lee 3rd – Queen Gee 4th – Holy Harry

TERANABA GREY - Trainer advised that it was the intention to have the gelding lead today. Ridden accordingly. Trainer M Maunder was advised that following today’s poor performance the gelding’s nominations would be limited to country meetings until it establishes improved performance. Mr Maunder indicated that consideration would now be given to retiring the gelding.

AKACHETA LEE - Slow to begin. When caught wide in the early stages, allowed to stride forward to the lead.

VIKING HUSSLER - Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner. Raced very ungenerously in the early stages and as a consequence was unable to hold its position and lost ground. Continued to race greenly for the remainder of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to the off hind leg consistent with being galloped on. Trainer S Hunter was advised that the gelding must compete in an official trial prior to racing again.

HOLY HARRY - Shortly after the start, steadied when bumped by VIKING HUSSLER.

VELOCE JAY - Bumped shortly after the start.

WREKKAAR - Inconvenienced near the 1000m.

PRINCE CONSUL - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

EKSPRESS KING - Near the 550m improved onto the heels of TERANABA GREY which was weakening and had to be steadied as a consequence.

QUEEN GEE - Approaching the 400m improved onto the heels of EKSPRESS KING and steadied. Held up rounding the home turn.

Race 2: First National R.E. Oxenford & Monterey Keys QTIS 3yo Fillies Maiden H’cap – 1200m
1st – Lofn 2nd – Lucky Show Girl 3rd – Greselin 4th – Walwa

The start was delayed when FRENCH SONG proved difficult to load. Trainer S Iverson was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s barrier manners.

LOFN – Reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer K Schweida was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly. Slow to muster speed in the early stages. Held up upon straightening and obliged to shift in to obtain clear running.

FRENCH SONG - Raced ungenerously in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover and near the 900m shifted in and bumped REAL NAUGHTY. Held up passing the 200m. Raced greenly throughout. When interviewed as to the filly’s racing manners, Mr Iverson indicated that he would now remove the blinkers in the hope that it would settle and race more tractably.

REAL NAUGHTY - Bumped near the 900m.

LUCKY SHOW GIRL - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Near 200m shifted in and bumped another runner.


MEMPHIS GIRL - Raced 4 wide without cover throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn and continued to do so throughout the home straight.

MURTA SHE RODE - Steadied from heels near the 500m.

WALWA - Hung out rounding home turn. Bumped near 200m.

SHORELINE - Bumped leaving the 300m. Unable to be fully tested from that point until approaching the 100m as a result of being forced to race in restricted room between runners.

GIVEN WINGS - Bumped approaching the 200m and was then held up for a short distance.

BELLA LA BELLE - Hampered approaching 100m.

Race 3: Sprintquip Ratings Band 0-65 H’cap – 900m
1st – Moss Harry 2nd – Captain Tango 3rd – Henny’s Lass 4th – Lilly The Filly

BEYOND HOLLYWOOD - Began awkwardly and bumped HENNY’S LASS. Raced wide throughout.

HENNY’S LASS - Bumped on jumping away.

PIVOTAL POINT - Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

MARY’S DAWN - Raced wide throughout.

LILLY THE FILLY - Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

TURBO TEDDY – Approaching the winning post had to be steadied from the heels of CAPTAIN TANGO.

Race 4: Don Alroe Family Maiden Plate – 1800m
1st – Time’s Up 2nd – How Lucky We Are 3rd – Inka Dinka Doo 4th – Men Only

INKA DINKA DOO – Slow to begin. Approaching the 1400m steadied from the heels of TIME’S UP.

HOW JAMMY’S THAT - Caught wide in the early stages and ridden forward to take up a position outside the leader.

HOW LUCKY WE ARE - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

McGILL - Near the 550m steadied to avoid the heels of TUTU CUTE which was weakening.

TUTU CUTE - A post-race veterinary examination of the mare which commenced to weaken leaving the 700m revealed a superficial laceration to the near hind pastern. Trainer K Kemp was at a loss to explain the poor performance. Mr Kemp was advised that the mare must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to starting again.

DUKE OF KINGSFORD – App. S Eilbeck reported that the gelding was inclined to hang out in the home straight proving difficult to ride.

DISORDER – When questioned Jockey S Galloway reported that the gelding hung in over the final 200m and for this reason he was unable to place it under pressure over the concluding stages of the race.

Race 5: St. Hilda’s Foundation Pink Ribbon Cup Class 2 H’cap – 1800m
1st – Not to Know 2nd – Electric Dee Jay 3rd – Alfie Junior 4th – Magnetic Star

NOT TO KNOW - Caught wide early. Ridden forward to assume the lead near the 1000m.

LEROY’S LUCK – When questioned as to the performance, Jockey A Allen stated that when forced to race inside other runners the gelding had a tendency to over-race and when placed under pressure rounding the home turn failed to quicken as expected and proved disappointing. Trainer M Wilson was unable to explain the disappointing performance except to say that the gelding may have failed to run out a strong 1800m.

Race 6: Williams Partners Independent Audit Specialists Class 4 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Crooked Stick 2nd – Casino Bride 3rd – She’s A Girl 4th – Repo Zest

GENGHIS - Bounded as the start was effected and lost ground.

BASIC STRATEGY – The gelding suffered a bleeding attack during the event and will incur a mandatory three month ban from racing under the provisions of AR53A.

Race 7: Ray White Broadbeach BenchMark 75 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Nakanai 2nd – Dousaichi 3rd – Little Long Horn 4th – Nicked and Court

As Jockey Matthew Palmer was to be overweight he was replaced on KOLONGA by Jockey T Treichel. Jockey Palmer was subsequently fined the sum of $200.

DICTATORSHIP – Jockey A Allen dropped his whip upon straightening.

KOLONGA - Held up for clear running from the 300m to the 100m.

TRICKY ROCKET – Jockey C Whiteley reported that the gelding hung out during the early and middle stages which prevented him from improving his position leaving the 600m. Jockey Whiteley added that the gelding then continued to hang out rounding the home turn and passing the 200m he was concerned with its action and therefore elected to ease it down over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be striding short behind. Trainer H Page was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness and official trial would be required prior to the gelding’s next race start.

SAVANNAH DREAM – When questioned as to the overall performance, Jockey M Hellyer stated that the mare travelled well in the early and middle stages. However, after being bumped by DICTATORSHIP leaving the 600m and then making contact with the running rail, lost momentum after which it was immediately under pressure and proved disappointing in the run to the line.

Race 8: Best Signs Class 1 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Man of His Word 2nd – One More Magic 3rd – Bullitt County 4th – Vision of Hope

As Jockey B Wallace was to be overweight he was replaced on JALAURABEL by Jockey V Johnston. Jockey Wallace was subsequently fined the sum of $200.

TRICKY JET - Connections advised that it was the intention to have the gelding ridden just of the pace if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.

I’M ALONE – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination. When questioned as to the disappointing performance, Trainer B Guy stated that the gelding has performed best when able to race in a forward position. Mr Guy added that after beginning awkwardly the gelding was then slow to muster speed and attributed this to the disappointing performance today.

BULLITT COUNTY - Slow to begin. Raced wide during the early stages.

JALAURABEL - Slow to begin.

BOOM BOX – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

MAN OF HIS WORD – Hung in, in the home straight.

VISION OF HOPE – When questioned as to the tactics adopted, Jockey J Morris stated that his intention was to take up a mid-field position with cover, however, from the wide barrier he allowed the mare to stride forward to the lead so as not to be caught wide.
