App Brooker added that despite travelling wide throughout the mare failed to respond when placed under pressure rounding the home turn and proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

App Stanley added that near the 800m she was obliged to steady from the heels of BOLD ATTRACTION and then had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. App Stanley conceded that in hindsight she should have pressured the mare in the early stages to maintain a handy position outside of BOLD ATTRACTION.

BOLD ATTRACTION – App S. Eilbeck reported that the horse raced greenly in the early and middle stages and as a consequence lost ground on the leaders leaving the 600m, despite her efforts. App Eilbeck noted that the horse was having its first start back from a spell and in her opinion had resented racing inside of other runners today. App Eilbeck indicated that connections would consider adding blinkers and stepping it up in distance at its next start.

HAVANA CIGAR – When asked to comment on the performance jockey N. Day stated that the gelding was not suited by the slow tempo of today’s race. Jockey Day stated that in hindsight he should have pushed forward leaving the 1000m when the pace slowed in an effort to maintain a position to the inside of MAGNETIC STAR when that runner improved forward in a 3 wide position. Jockey Day added that as a consequence the gelding was left flatfooted when the tempo increased leaving the 600m.

PERCULES – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. When questioned as to the tactics adopted jockey L. Rolls stated that he was given no specific instructions today. Jockey Rolls stated that the gelding had drawn wide barriers at its previous 2 starts where he was forced to settle further back in the field in order to obtain cover. Jockey Rolls further added that from a more favourable barrier today his intention was to take up a handy position with cover. When the field began on terms he was forced to pressure the gelding in the early stages so as not to be caught 3 wide after which it then overraced, which resulted in him leading today, which was not his intention. The explanation was noted.

BLACKJACK PRINCESS – Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
