From GCTC – Wednesday 14/10/2015 – Race 3 – Trainer G Stockdale reported that ROB ROY may have jarred up on the firm surface. Mr Stockdale was of the view that this was why the gelding was unable to take up a forward position as per its customary racing pattern.

Race 1: Attwood Marshall Lawyers F&M Ratings Band 0-62 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Loaded and Ready 2nd – Secret Process 3rd – Vision of Hope 4th – My Bella Syn

VISION OF HOPE – When questioned as to the tactics adopted in the early stages, App. N Masuda stated that after beginning only fairly, his intention was to obtain a position with cover behind SPIRIT TORQUE. App. Masuda added that due to the slow tempo in the early stages he was unable to obtain cover and was caught 3 wide outside SPIRIT TORQUE. App. Masuda then attempted to push forward to cross to the lead, however, SPIRIT TORQUE also improved forward at which point he again tried to obtain cover behind that runner but was unable to do so and was obliged to race 3 wide without cover for the remainder of the race. Whilst noting the circumstances, Stewards advised App. Masuda that given the slow tempo in the early stages, he would have been better suited to push forward to the lead.

JO’S LUCK – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

SPIRIT TORQUE – App. S Eilbeck reported that the mare may have jarred up on today’s firm surface.

Race 2: Attwood Marshall Lawyers Maiden H’cap – 1200m
1st – Tahitian Prince 2nd – Red Reason 3rd – Of Course She Does 4th – Get Outa Utah

The start was delayed when the bridle of SEA DEVIL had to be adjusted and also when OF COURSE SHE DOES and COCOA BAR were fractious in the barriers.

COCOA BAR –Began awkwardly and lost ground. Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and handling of COCOA BAR. After taking initial evidence from Jockey K Matheson and Trainer B Herne, Jockey Matheson pleaded not guilty to a charge under AR135(b). Prior to making submissions in defence of the charge Stewards acceded to a request by Jockey Matheson to have the matter adjourned to a time and date to be fixed. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to be mildly sore over the hindquarters.

OF COURSE SHE DOES – Slow to begin.

SEA DEVIL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. A short distance later steadied from the heels of COCOA BAR.

PITBULL – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

NO LUST LOST – Stewards permitted Jockey T Treichel to replace Jockey A Spinks who was indisposed. Near the 700m steadied when tightened for room between GET OUTA UTAH and PITBULL (V Johnston) which shifted in. Jockey V Johnston was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future. Bumped leaving the 500m and then steadied from the heels of PITBULL. Leaving the 100m inconvenienced when PITBULL shifted out. Jockey V Johnston was reprimanded for allowing her mount to shift out when insufficiently clear.

GET OUTA UTAH – Leaving the 500m attempted to shift out to improve and in doing so bumped NO LUST LOST.

Jockey S Galloway (MR LEBROCK) was fined the sum of $200 for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than the permitted number of occasions prior to the 100m.

Race 4: Revelstone Stud QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1100m
1st – Hesitation 2nd – Real Ambition 3rd – Sanguine Red 4th – Bo Bo Horse

The start was delayed when REAL AMBITION proved difficult to load. Stable representative B Rogers was advised that a barrier certificate would be required prior to the gelding’s next race start.

Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey L Rolls the rider of BO BO HORSE which finished 5th against PAT’S DESTINY (M Graham) being declared the 3rd placegetter on the grounds of interference in the straight. On the evidence it was established that leaving the 300m BO BO HORSE had obtained a run to the outside of PAT’S DESTINY. A short distance later PAT’S DESTINY shifted out resulting in BO BO HORSE having to be steadied and lose ground before shifting back to the inside of PAT’S DESTINY to secure clear running. The stewards were of the opinion that the degree of interference suffered by BO BO HORSE exceeded the half length margin between the two horses at the finish and therefore upheld the objection and amended the placings to read:-

1st: No. 14 - Hesitation
2nd: No. 4 - Real Ambition
3rd: No. 5 - Sanguine Red
4th: No. 1 - Bo Bo Horse
5th: No. 9 - Pat’s Destiny

At a subsequent inquiry App. M Graham (PAT’S DESTINY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting her mount to shift out near the 250m when insufficiently clear of BO BO HORSE resulting in that runner having to be steadied and lose ground. App. Graham was suspended from riding in races for 13 days to commence midnight 23/10/2015 and to expire midnight 05/11/2015.

MSHINDI – Raced 3 wide without cover in the early stages. Bumped near the 250m.

SPANISH GARDEN – Stewards accepted the explanation for the late declaration of App. N Masuda. Raced wide in the early stages.

BO BO HORSE – Near 250m steadied away from the heels of PAT’S DESTINY and was obliged to shift back to the inside of that runner to secure clear running.

FRENCH CHARM – Leaving the 250m steadied when placed in restricted room between runners. Jockey N Day reported that connections would now give consideration to sending the filly for a spell.

PAT’S DESTINY – When questioned as to her riding over the concluding stages, App. Graham stated that the filly was inclined to shift out under pressure at that point and proved difficult to ride. Stewards accepted her explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed PAT’S DESTINY to have shifted its off fore plate and to be lame in that same leg. Trainer A Ryan will be advised that he must obtain a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to the filly’s next race start.

Jockey Rolls was suspended from riding in races for 13 days to commence midnight 19/10/2015 and to expire midnight 01/11/2015.

KUDERO - Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
