SUPPLEMENTARY:

From GCTC 31/10/2015 – Race 6 – Trainer B Dais reported that TRUE PRINCE had pulled up well following the race. Mr Dais was of the opinion that the slow tempo in the early stages and sprint home did not suit the horse’s pattern of racing.

Race 1: Highgrove Bathrooms Maiden Plate – 900m
1st – Mini Meld 2nd – O’Lynch 3rd – Mono Girl 4th – Datastar

O’LYNCH – Shortly after the start lost ground when tightened for room between ROSE OF ADARE and DARE TO DAZZLE which was taken out by MONO GIRL. Then over-raced during the early stages and was inclined to lay in throughout the home straight.

DARE TO DAZZLE – Shortly after the start inconvenienced by MONO GIRL.

Race 2: Casa Lusso Bathroomware Class 3 Plate – 900m
1st – Shady Daisy 2nd – Shinji 3rd – Eagle’s Nest 4th – Torqueflite

TORQUEFLITE – Leaving the 250m disappointed for a run and was inclined to lay in behind EAGLE’S NEST for a short distance.

Race 3: Choice Homes C,G&E Class 1 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Affray 2nd – Irish Mambo 3rd – The Monk 4th – It’s Vegas Baby

As App. R Jamieson was indisposed due to injury she was replaced on MR SEDUCTION by App. K Stanley.

MR SEDUCTION – Stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer T White was advised that the gelding would require a further barrier certificate prior to starting again. Mr White was reprimanded for presenting MR SEDUCTION to race without pacifiers. The horse subsequently raced with pacifiers.

TAHITIAN PRINCE – Blundered shortly after the start.

IT’S VEGAS BABY – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, Jockey M Hellyer stated that his instructions were to ride the gelding aggressively in the early stages to take up a forward position. Jockey Hellyer stated that after beginning awkwardly, from the wide barrier, he rode the gelding vigorously in compliance with his instructions. Jockey Hellyer added that approaching the 1000m he attempted to obtain a position with cover behind THE MONK which he anticipated would press forward to sit outside the leader. However, he was unable to do so when IRISH MAMBO elected to steady to allow THE MONK to cross forward of him which resulted in IT’S VEGAS BABY being obliged to race 3 wide without cover for the majority of the event. Jockey Hellyer stated that given the steady tempo he did not believe that the fact the gelding was forced to race 3 wide had a detrimental effect on its performance. Trainer B Herne confirmed the instructions provided. The explanation was noted.

SKYSAIL – Near the 1100m steadied from the heels of THE MONK. Then commenced to over-race and was steadied from the heels of IRISH MAMBO near the 900m.

Race 4: Bruce Lynton BMW QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Don’t Deny Us 2nd – Red Chandelier 3rd – Little Bita Love 4th – Shoreline

LITTLE BITA LOVE - Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

LAST VEGAS - Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide throughout.

SANGUINE RED – Suffered heavy contact on jumping away when tightened for room between RED CHANDELIER and LOST VIRTUE which shifted in. As a consequence SANGUINE RED blundered and lost ground.

LOST VIRTUE - Began awkwardly and shifted in. Near the 1000m shifted in and bumped RED CHANDELIER. When caught wide during the early stages, ridden forward to obtain the lead. When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey N Day stated that his intention was to obtain a handy position with cover, however, from the wide barrier he was obliged to race wide in the early stages and as a result elected to press forward to the lead. Jockey Day added that once in the lead the filly refused to settle as a result of PRINCE OF TURF racing fiercely to his outside. Jockey Day was of the view that these factors contributed to the filly failing to finish the race off as expected. Jockey Day noted that the filly would derive a fitness benefit from today’s run.

RED CHANDELIER - Shortly after the start bumped and became unbalanced.

MISHANI NEFERTITI – Held up rounding the home turn.

DON’T DENY US - Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.

SHORELINE - Held up for a short distance upon straightening.

PRINCE OF TURF – When questioned as to the tactics adopted, Jockey A Spinks stated his instructions were to take up a handy position with cover. Jockey Spinks added that from the wide barrier today he was obliged to race wide in the early stages and near the 900m he attempted to restrain the gelding to obtain cover behind RED CHANDELIER. Jockey Spinks added that the gelding then commenced to over-race and as such he elected to ride forward to settle outside the leader at which point the gelding got its tongue over the bit, commenced to race fiercely and proved difficult to ride. Jockey Spinks was of the opinion that the gelding would benefit with the addition of a tongue tie. Stable representative Mr M Downs confirmed that a tongue tie would be added to the gelding’s gear. A swab sample was taken.

ONE MORE MAGIC - Bumped on jumping away. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, Jockey J Taylor stated that from the wide barrier today he was obliged to settle at the rear of the field. Jockey Taylor added that the filly then travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages but failed to respond as expected when placed under pressure rounding the home turn and was disappointed in its finishing effort. Jockey Taylor was of the opinion that the filly may have jarred up on today’s surface. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination. A swab sample was taken.

RED HOT ELEMENT – Bumped on jumping away. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

DESPINA – Approaching the 900m steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of RAISE YOUR SPIRITS.

CONCETTA – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.

GRESELIN – Jockey A Spinks reported that his intention was to take up a position closer to the speed today, however, the filly was unable to muster the necessary speed and was obliged to settle further back than anticipated.
