GENERAL :

As N. Day was indisposed due to illness stewards permitted rider replacements as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Due to a nearby fire emergency the start times for all races were put back one race. The start time for Race 7 was rescheduled for 5.00 p.m.

Race 1: Acclaim Air Conditioning Class 1 H’Cap – 900m
1st – Mini Meld 2nd – Always Sacred 3rd – Cold Melody 4th – Interlude

The start was delayed to hold for an interstate event.

JILL’S JOURNEY – Stewards permitted jockey A. Best to ride the horse a ½ kilo overweight, as riders were required to reweigh following the initial delay to the meeting. Inconvenienced shortly after the start when tightened for room between VIVID IMAGINATION and RAISE YOUR SPIRITS, which shifted in.

INTERLUDE – Slow to begin. Jockey M. Hellyer reported that despite his efforts the mare failed to muster speed in the early stages. Jockey Hellyer noted that the mare was first up today and in his opinion would appreciate racing over further distances than that of today’s event.

MAN OF STEALTH – Hampered shortly after the start.

ALWAYS SACRED – Hampered shortly after the start.

RAISE YOUR SPIRITS – App S. Eilbeck reported that with the addition of blinkers today the mare overraced for the majority of the event.

1st – Starante 2nd – Par Oneri 3rd – How Big’s The Hole 4th – Real Cute

STOLE THE SHOW – Began awkwardly and attempted to buck shortly after the start. When questioned as to the performance jockey M. McGuren stated that despite attempting to buck in the early stages the filly travelled well during the middle stages of the race. Jockey McGuren added that rounding the home turn he attempted to follow STARANTE, the eventual winner, into the race however the filly failed to respond as expected and in his opinion was disappointing. Jockey McGuren noted that following the race the filly made an abnormal noise, which indicated it may have choked down during the race. Trainer L. Birchley was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing manners. Mr Birchley confirmed that he would add a tongue tie before the filly’s next start.

BENFICA PRINCESS – Slow to begin.

MISHANI SHIRAZ – Jockey M. Paget reported his saddle slipped back on jumping away and as a result the filly attempted to buck shortly thereafter. Jockey Paget added that the filly continued to race ungenerously and as a result was obliged to ease it out of the race passing the 600m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. As the filly’s racing manners were as a result of the saddle slipping no embargo was placed on it.

HOW BIG’S THE HOLE – App S. Eilbeck reported that the filly raced greenly throughout and was inclined to hang out proving difficult to ride over the final 200m.

Race 3: Colin Biggers & Paisley Lawyers Maiden Plate – 2200m
1st – Lord Chamberlain 2nd – Mystic Skies 3rd – Duke Of Staghurst 4th – Suncansing

Following the initial delay to the race meetings stewards permitted V. Johnston to be substituted as the rider of MR MALU to enable K. Yoshida to fulfil his riding engagements at Toowoomba.

Correct weight was delayed whilst stewards reviewed the concluding stages to ascertain if the 2nd placegetter MYSTIC SKIES had grounds to lodge an objection against the 1st placegetter LORD CHAMBERLAIN. After reviewing the patrol footage stewards noted that LORD CHAMBERLAIN had shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages and brushed MYSTIC SKIES however, stewards were not of the belief that the incident had impeded the finishing effort of MYSTIC SKIES and declared correct weight.

MR MALU – Raced 3 wide without cover in the early stages. Near the 1800m had to be steadied from the heels of TEEKAYO, which shifted in. D. Griffin the rider of TEEKAYO was reprimanded for this incident.

DESERT GAMBLER – Unable to improve when held up on the heels of the tiring DECIBEL DAN between the 600m and 400m.

TEEKAYO – Jockey D. Griffin reported that after being caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to press forward and settle outside the leader near the 1700m.

DECIBEL DAN – Jockey M. Paget reported that it was not his intention to lead today however, after beginning well the gelding found itself in that position and with the slow speed in the early and middle stages was content to remain there.

J. Taylor the rider of CASTANITA pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in whilst being ridden along near the 1100m when insufficiently clear of UMGENI, taking that runner in onto RED HOT ELEMENT which resulted in jockey J. Morris having to steady his mount. J. Taylor’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days to commence midnight 28 November 2015 and to expire midnight 6 December 2015.

Race 7: Winning Appliances Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m

ENCOSTA JEWEL – Blundered on jumping away. Stewards questioned jockey M. Bennett as to his riding of the mare rounding the home turn when there appeared to be an opportunity to improve to the outside of DAZZLING SHIRAZ. Jockey Bennett stated that his instructions were to take up a forward position however, after blundering at the start the mare was obliged to race at the rear of the field. Jockey Bennett added that as this was the mare’s first start over 1400m he was content to remain in a trailing position behind DAZZLING SHIRAZ so as to save ground to the inside of that runner rounding the home turn. Jockey Bennett added that as a consequence he was held up for a short distance until near the 400m, at which point PENDIGO, which was to his inside, commenced to weaken, which allowed him to then improve to the inside of DAZZLING SHIRAZ. Jockey Bennett noted that the mare was then afforded clear running for the entire home straight and as a result finished the race off well. Stewards noted his explanation.

SEVVA NIGHTS – Slow to begin.

THUNDERING HEART – Slow to begin.

DAZZLING SHIRAZ – Near the 250m had to be steadied when tightened for room between SIMPLY SHOWTIME and ENCOSTA JEWEL, which shifted out marginally.
