FINAL FELIZ – Raced greenly throughout and passing the 600m was inclined to lay in before then laying out across the heels of UMAJET near the 500m, at which point it had to be steadied. The filly suffered a bleeding attack during the event. Trainer J. Morrisey was advised that as this was the first occasion the filly will incur a mandatory 3 month ban from racing and must compete in a 1000m gallop before racing again.

SETHELO – Raced wide without cover throughout and passing the 500m was inclined to lay out. Jockey N. Day dropped his whip near the 100m.

LIVE FAST – Raced wide throughout.

UMAJET – Raced greenly throughout.

Race 2: Crowe Horwath Financial Planning Class 3 Plate – 2200m
1st – Scotty Be Gotti 2nd – Tip Rat 3rd – Classic Star 4th – Magnetic Star

SCOTTY BE GOTTI – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the middle stages when the pace steadied before shifting wider near the 800m to improve.

DESERT HARRY – A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M. Wilson advised the gelding will now be sent for an immediate spell.

Race 3: Crowe Horwath Corporate Finance Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Classic Element 2nd – Fortunate Four 3rd – Intronati 4th – Stitchery

HEAVENLY DANCER – Stewards permitted J. Watkins to replace C. Maund, who is not riding at today’s event. Slow to begin. Upon straightening shifted out to improve bumping DORMEUSE and was then held up behind INTRONATI until leaving the 200m.

FORTUNATE FOUR – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

INTRONATI – Hung out throughout the race and proved difficult to ride.

DORMEUSE - Hung out rounding the home turn and was bumped by HEAVENLY DANCER upon straightening. When questioned as to the tactics and overall performance jockey N. Day stated that his instructions were to be positive in the early stages but not to place the mare under undue pressure. Jockey Day added that bearing in mind these instructions he attempted to obtain cover behind INTRONATI near the 1300m. However, HEAVENLY DANCER improved to his inside at that point, which resulted in him being forced to race 3 wide. Jockey Day further added that passing the 800m INTRONATI commenced to hang out and shifted wider thereby taking him wider on the track. Jockey Day noted that the mare raced untractably throughout and in his opinion failed to handle its first start in a clockwise direction. Trainer B. Stanley confirmed the instructions and bearing in mind the circumstances was not overly critical of the tactics adopted by jockey Day. Mr Stanley stated that similar instructions would be issued at the mare’s next start with the intention of obtaining a handy position with cover. Stewards noted the explanations.

Race 4: Crowe Horwath Tax Advisory Ratings Band 0-70 H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Putapavonit 2nd – Elegies 3rd – Retune 4th – Whatalovelyday

FAIRYTALE BELLE – Fractious in the barriers and then slow to begin. When questioned as to the tactics adopted App A. Denby stated that after being slow to begin she was obliged to settle further back in the field than anticipated. App Denby added that rounding the first turn she anticipated CAP BIANCO was going to shift in and therefore she allowed the mare to stride forward outside of that runner. However, CAP BIANCO maintained a position one off the fence, which resulted in her racing 3 wide at the tail of the field. App Denby further added that she then elected to restrain to obtain cover behind CAP BIANCO at which point the tempo slowed, resulting in CAP BIANCO having to be steadied from heels, which then prevented her from obtaining cover behind that runner. Stewards advised App Denby that once she obtained a position outside of CAP BIANCO she should have continued to improve in an attempt to obtain a trailing position behind ELECTRIC DEE JAY. A post race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no abnormalities.

PUTAPAVONIT – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

SNAPCRACKLE – Slow to begin.

DYNAMIC STAR – Bumped at the start. Near the 500m shifted out to improve and bumped PARIS MOTION. Near the 200m was bumped by JET SUKI and became unbalanced for a short distance and was then taken out by JET SUKI over the final 200m before having to be checked to avoid the heels of JET SUKI over the concluding stages at which point it clipped the heels of that runner, shifted in and then clipped the heels of HALLS CREEK.

ORNE RIVER – Held up rounding the home turn. Had to be steadied from the heels of JET SUKI over the concluding stages.

LONGCHAMP BELLE – Overraced in the middle stages.

JETASAN – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination of gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities. When questioned as to the disappointing performance App S. Eilbeck stated that from the wide barrier the gelding was unable to obtain cover and was obliged to race wide throughout. Notwithstanding this App Eilbeck was still disappointed in the overall performance however, noted that the gelding was first up from a spell today and she believed it would derive fitness benefit from today’s performance.
