SUPPLEMENTARY:

From Gold Coast Turf Club Meeting Saturday 14/5/16 – Race 8

Jockey M. McGuren (LUCKY SHOW GIRL) was reprimanded for using his whip in an excessive manner prior to the 100m.

Race 1: Spectrum Transport Systems (Qld) QTIS 3YO BenchMark 70 H’Cap- 1300m
1st – Kim Noir 2nd – Roxy Rhythm 3rd – Redsson 4th – Relampago

The start was delayed as a result of the veterinary surgeon being unable to arrive on course prior to the advertised start time.
KIM NOIR – Began awkwardly.

LIKE A RULER – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages.

REDSSON – Overraced in the early stages.
ROXY RHYTHM – Overraced in the early stages.

RELAMPAGO – Held up in the early stages of the home straight.


Race 2: N P Distribution Maiden H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Bound For Love 2nd – Eminent Knight 3rd – Glenturret 4th – Harley Hog

FROSTY KNICKERS – Connections advised the filly would be ridden closer to the speed today if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Slow to begin.

FREE FLOWING – Lowered its head as the start was effected and lost ground.

EMINENT KNIGHT – Slow to begin. Rounding the home turn was taken wider on the track by another runner.

SPARKLING TIARA – Overraced in the early stages.

STORMY LEO – Overraced in the middle stages and as a consequence passing the 700m improved between FROSTSY KNICKERS and BOUND FOR LOVE where there was insufficient room, resulting in the gelding having to be checked and lose ground.

GLENTURRET – Inclined to shift ground passing the 200m.

BOUND FOR LOVE – Raced greenly for the majority.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 3.


Race 3: Food Traders Australia Maiden Plate – 1800m
1st – Zasorceress 2nd – Fashion Saga 3rd – Endless Don 4th – Barberance

PREMIERE PLACE – Slow to begin. Near the 800m had to be steadied from the heels of HARISSA after that gelding broke down.

BARBERANCE – Had to be steadied when tightened for room shortly after the start.

JAM WITH THE DUKE - Had to be steadied when tightened for room shortly after the start.

FASHION SAGA – Held up approaching the home turn and then again for a short distance upon straightening.

BRING ME THE VOICE – Upon straightening was disappointed for a run to the inside of SACRED WATER and as a result was held up until near the 200m. Trainer B. Guy was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of App C. Schmidt.

PRINCE CONSUL – Inconvenienced upon straightening.

SACRED WATER – Passing the 200m had to be steadied when crowded for room.

AWESOME MORE – Raced wide throughout.

ENDLESS DON – Raced wide throughout.

HARISSA – A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was eased out of the event passing the 800m, revealed it to have fractured its near fore cannon and as a consequence was euthanised on humane grounds.

Jockey A. Taylor (ENDLESS DON) was fined $200.00 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.


Race 4: Spectrum Transport Systems (Qld) Class 2 H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Zafiki 2nd – Super Force 3rd – Too Rough 4th – Walwa

The start was delayed to hold for an interstate event.

LADY ATHENA – Slow to begin. When questioned as to the disappointing performance jockey M. Hellyer stated that the filly raced like a tired horse. Jockey Hellyer further stated that connections had advised the filly would now be sent for a spell. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a slow post race recovery.

TOO ROUGH – Leaving the 1500m had to be steadied from heels. Held up rounding the home turn.

PURE INTELLIGENCE – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Shifted in under pressure over the final 200m.

WALWA – Leaving the 200m was inconvenienced by PURE INTELLIGENCE, which shifted in. Laid out under pressure over the final 100m. Jockey A. Spinks dropped his whip over the concluding stages.

Jockey D. Griffin (TOO ROUGH) was fined $200.00 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.


Race 5: Agri Food Ingredients Class 3 Plate – 1400m
1st – Murder Of Crows 2nd – Little Miss Rocker 3rd – Hesitation 4th – Motion Granted

The start was delayed to hold for an interstate event.

MURDER OF CROWS – Slow to begin.

BIAGIOTTI – Shortly after the start shifted in and bumped MOTION GRANTED.

MOTION GRANTED – Bumped shortly after the start.

BOBBY BE GOOD – Inconvenienced by another runner shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority.

HESITATION – Leaving the 1200m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of LITTLE MISS ROCKER, which was inclined to lay in at that point. Passing the 500m was inconvenienced by GUNSMOKE, which was taken out by LITTLE MISS ROCKER and then laid out rounding the home turn. Jockey M. Hellyer reported that in his opinion the filly would be better suited over further distances.

LITTLE MISS ROCKER – Leaving the 900m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of GUNSMOKE, which shifted in after being bumped by MOTION GRANTED. App A. Denby (MOTION GRANTED) was reprimanded.

CUSHY NUMBER – When questioned as to the tactics adopted trainer B. Hull stated that bearing in mind the early speed of the race his intention was to have the gelding settle in a handy position. Mr Hull added that after beginning on terms with the field it appeared as if the gelding was going to obtain its intended position until HESITATION shifted off the fence leaving the 900m, resulting in CUSHY NUMBER settling further back in the field than anticipated.

Jockey J. Morris (CUSHY NUMBER) was fined $100.00 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.


Race 6: Cargo & Logistics Management (Qld) C, G & E Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – The Virginian 2nd – Lambency 3rd – Red Reason 4th – Generate

RED REASON – Bounded in the air as the start was effected. Raced greenly in the home straight.

LAREBIL – Slow to begin.

SPIRIT OF HUSSON – Raced wide for the majority.


Race 7: Spectrum Transport Systems (Qld) Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Flo Jo Snip 2nd – Poetic Show 3rd –Snitzel’s Belle 4th – Mshindi

VEEJAY KISS – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped LIESL LASS and as a result lost ground. Hung in in the early stages.

LIESL LASS – Bumped at the start. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Jockey J. Morris reported that after beginning only fairly he was obliged to ride the filly vigorously in the early stages in an effort to obtain a forward position. Jockey Morris added that in his opinion the filly is better suited to racing on rain affected surfaces.

GRECIAN SUMMER – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have cast an off hind plate with no significant abnormalities.

POP BUBBLE POP - Bumped at the start. Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.

MSHINDI – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped PASSION TO WIN.

PASSION TO WIN – Bumped on jumping away, became unbalanced and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.

CLASSY CHANEL – Raced ungenerously passing the 1000m.

STEAL A DIAMOND – Held up in the early stages of the home straight.


Race 8: The Brandworks Cup BenchMark 85 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Mischievous Devil 2nd – Siegfried 3rd – Show Day 4th – Hi Son

REGULAR – Began awkwardly.

OLD HABITS – Slow to begin. Held up between the 300m and 150m and again over the concluding stages.

SPUR LE JOUER – Slow to begin. Leaving the 200m had to be severely checked and lost ground when tightened for room.

HI SON – Held up rounding the home turn.

FLYING RIDDLE – Leaving the 200m had to be checked and lost ground when tightened for room.

GOLD HORIZON – Leaving the 200m became unbalanced after being bumped by LUCKY NEWS.

LAST SIGHT – Near the 150m had to be steadied when tightened for room by RIGHTEOUS MISS, which shifted in marginally. Then held up for the remainder of the event.

SHOW DAY – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

LUCKY NEWS – Raced wide throughout. Leaving the 200m had to be severely checked and lost ground when tightened for room.

S. Galloway the rider of COMACINA pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that approaching the 200m he directed his mount outwards when insufficiently clear of FLYING RIDDLE, resulting in that gelding being taken out onto SPUR LE JOUER. As a consequence SPUR LE JOUER had to be severely checked when crowded for room between FLYING RIDDLE and LUCKY NEWS. Furthermore, LUCKY NEWS had to be severely checked after being heavily bumped by SPUR LE JOUER and taken out onto GOLD HORIZON. S. Galloway’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of thirteen (13) days to commence midnight 22 May 2016 and to expire midnight 4 June 2016.
