GENERAL:

As J. Morris was indisposed due to illness stewards permitted rider replacements as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

RACE 1: SKY RACING COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE – 1300M
1st – Amuleto 2nd – Gotta Goodie 3rd – Outback Buck 4th – Excitement Levels

STORMY DEEDS – Hampered at the start.

OUTBACK BUCK – Hampered at the start.

EXCITEMENT LEVELS – Jumped away awkwardly.

CREATIONIST – After being bumped at the start shifted out abruptly.

DISORDER – Raced 3 wide in the early stages until leaving the 800m. Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

WHY THE LONG HEAD – Stewards questioned jockey R. McMahon regarding his riding in the home straight. Jockey McMahon explained that WHY THE LONG HEAD was very one paced and was inclined to get in and away from DISORDER. Jockey McMahon added that he did not apply the whip behind the saddle as he was of the view that slapping the horse down the shoulder was sufficient to get the horse to finish the race off at its best. Stewards noted his explanation however, reminded him that in the future he would be expected to ride his mounts out in a manner which does not leave him open to question.

RACE 2: SKY RACING FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN PLATE – 1300M
1st – Stage Dancer 2nd – Wicked Queen 3rd – Lady Manhattan 4th – Gorada

TWINCITI DANCER – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost ground.

ROTHA’S ROSE – Slow to begin.

WICKED QUEEN – Jumped away awkwardly.

ROUGISSANTE – Shifted out abruptly under pressure over the final stages.

GORADA – Approaching the 100m had to alter course to the inside of ROUGISSANTE when that runner shifted out under pressure.

GOOD MANEUVER – A post race veterinary examination of the filly, which weakened badly in the home straight, revealed no significant findings. Trainer D. Bowen reported that the horse returned to the enclosure with its tongue over the bit.

RACE 3: SKY RACING QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M
1st – Trampers 2nd – Dia De Reyes 3rd – Sonic Bloom 4th – Elusive Affair

Correct weight was also delayed to enable M. McGuren the rider of second placegetter DIA DE REYES to view the patrol footage to ascertain whether he had grounds to lodge a protest against the winner TRAMPERS (App T. Brooker). After viewing the film jockey McGuren advised that he did not wish to proceed with the protest.

DIA DE REYES – Slow to begin. Near the 200m inconvenienced slightly when racing in restricted room to the inside of TRAMPERS.

GENERAL COS – Slow to begin. Over the final stages shifted out and bumped REAL SPICY.

AUSSIE TYCOON – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out.

SIDERO STAR – Hampered at the start.

HELL OF A TIME – Hampered at the start.

RALLIER – Held up and unable to improve for a short distance approaching the 200m.

REAL SPICY – Bumped over the final stages. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
NORDIC SHOW – Raced wide without cover throughout.

SONIC BLOOM – Raced 3 wide throughout.

CAPTAINS PICK – When questioned regarding the performance jockey N. Tomizawa explained that in his opinion the gelding races best when able to lead and dictate the tempo of the race but soon after the start when BEYOND BRAVE began fast he did not have the necessary speed to take up a forward position so he was obliged to race with cover. Jockey Tomizawa added that when placed under pressure in the home straight the gelding did not quicken as he expected. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

RACE 4: SKY RACING CLASS 1 H’CAP – 900M
1st – Liesl Lass 2nd – Caramida De Aur 3rd – Spinnaker Run 4th – Kiss The Condor

SHANNONBROOK MISS – The filly cast a near hind plate in the stable area and when unable to be refitted the off hind plate was removed and as a result stewards permitted the filly to race without shoes on both back legs. Very fractious when the jockey attempted to mount and reared up on a number of occasions and as a result arrived at the barriers late. Trainer S. Phelps was advised that the filly must compete in an official barrier trial prior to racing again due to its erratic manners after leaving the mounting yard.

LIESL LASS – Slow to begin. Approaching the 200m shifted out and brushed SPINNAKER RUN.

RAISE YOUR SPIRITS – Slow to begin. Lost an off hind plate in running.

DRILL – Slow to begin. Near the 500m had to be eased when tightened for room between ENCORE SALL, which shifted out slightly and SHANNONBROOK MISS.

ENCORE SALL – Slow to begin.

BRILLIANT DIVA – Raced greenly under pressure in the straight.

SPINNAKER RUN – Brushed approaching the 200m.

RACE 5: SKY RACING RATINGS BAND 0-65 H’CAP – 1800M
1st – Super Force 2nd – Kazan 3rd – Outstrip 4th – Jimmy Hoffa

CHASING THE DRAGON – Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

SPECIAL KARMA – Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.

SOAKED – Disappointed for clear running for a major part of the home straight and as a result was not fully tested by its rider.

OUTSTRIP – Near the 100m jockey R. McMahon dropped his off side rein for a short distance.
RACE 6: SKY RACING OPEN H’CAP – 1300M
1st – Umgeni 2nd – Dousaichi 3rd – Omission 4th – Retune

RETUNE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

NICKY NOCKY – Jockey S. Bogenhuber reported at scale that the mare travelled well but failed to respond to her riding rounding the home turn and was most disappointing in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

RACE 7: SKY RACING CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M
1st – Redsson 2nd – Western Belle 3rd – Mystical Renegade 4th – Sagamama

MYSTICAL RENEGADE - Underwent a veterinary examination after arriving on course after trainer D. Kelly reported to stewards that it had become fractious in its stable overnight. A veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained minor abrasions to the near fore and near hind legs but was cleared to race.

Trainer T. Edmonds was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of App. T. Brooker as rider of WESTERN BELLE.

SNITZIOLA – Fractious in the mounting yard and again when it paraded out onto the track dislodging jockey N. Tomizawa on a number of occasions. Trainer T. Hong was advised that a warning would be placed against the gelding’s pre race behaviour.

The start was delayed when ASTUTE BOY which was fractious in the barriers was withdrawn, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.

SAGAMAMA – Slow to begin.

WESTERN BELLE – Slow to begin. Near the 50m shifted out under pressure and had to be steadied from the heels of REDSSON.

BULLITT COUNTY – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground. Trainer A. Willick was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
