As H. Bowman was indisposed Stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
As B. El-Issa was indisposed due to personal reasons Stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
A veterinary examination of Intrigue (Race 4) and Indecision (Race 9), both of which arrived in Australia yesterday morning revealed no abnormalities. Both horses were cleared to start.
 
 
Race 1 – Attwood Marshall Lawyers Benchmark 75 Handicap – 1800m
 
The Candy Man – Upon arriving on course trainer B. Baldwin advised that the gelding had cast a near fore plate yesterday. Mr Baldwin advised that the Stable did not have any concerns regarding the gelding’s soundness. A veterinary examination subsequently cleared the gelding to start. Bumped by Gold Ambition near the 150m and again near the 100m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have been galloped on the off fore leg, sustaining a small laceration to the outside cannon.
 
Dansez – Began awkwardly and was then bumped by Tucano. Shortly thereafter hampered by Go Dixie, which was taken out by Red Colour. Raced three wide without cover in the early stages before obtaining a position outside the leader near the 1200m.
 
Tucano – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped Dansez. Hampered shortly after the start. Jockey L. Tarrant reported that the horse failed to handle the heavy conditions.
 
Karakabeel – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages and near the 1500m steadied from the heels of Tunero.
 
Hang – Raced four wide without cover in the early stages before obtaining cover behind Dansez near the 1200m. Upon straightening eased from the heels of Go Dixie.
 
Le Mattan – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Cast an off fore plate in running. Jockey A. Spinks reported that the horse failed to handle the heavy conditions.
 
Red Colour – Held up rounding the home turn and again between the 300m and 200m when unable to improve to the outside of So You Wish.
 
Gold Ambition – Shifted in under pressure and bumped The Candy Man near the 150m and again leaving the 100m. Raced wide throughout.
 
Go Dixie – Near the 100m steadied when tightened for room between runners.
 
Glen Ord – Shifted in under pressure passing the 100m. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Tunero – When questioned as to the performance jockey J. McDonald stated that the gelding failed to handle the heavy track conditions.
 
Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Heavy 9 retrospective.
 
Race 2 – Heineken Gold Coast Cup – 2400m
 
Wendouree Red – After arriving on course underwent a veterinary examination after racing on Wednesday 1 May 2019 and was cleared to start.
 
King Tomlola – A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which finished tailed off, revealed no abnormalities.    
 
Jockey M. Cahill (Sir Barnabus) was reprimanded for his use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty Stewards were mindful of the totality of the infringement.
 
Race 3 – TAB Ken Russell Memorial Classic (Group 3) – 1200m
 
Epaumada – Began awkwardly. Passing the 600m steadied from the heels of Patches. Lost an off hind plate in running.
Scout – Began awkwardly. Overraced in the middle stages and was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
Couldn’t Refuse – Shortly after the start steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of Patches and lost ground. Leaving the 600m was placed in restricted room between Stronger and Epaumada, steadied and lost ground.

Accession – Shortly after the start steadied when tightened for room.
 
Clairvue Missy – Approaching the 1000m checked and lost ground when tightened for room between Scout and Epaumada, both of which shifted ground. Jockey B. Stewart (Epaumada) was severely reprimanded. In determining penalty Stewards were mindful of the contributing factors resulting in Clairvue Missy being tightened for room at that point.
 
Written With Ease – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
Patches – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Stronger – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 4 – Johnnie Walker Gold Coast Bracelet (Listed) – 1800m
 
Rocknavar – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Hung in for the majority of the event.
 
Dawson Diva – Bumped by Rocknavar at the start. Caught wide in the early stages. Approaching the 600m hampered by Barefoot, which shifted out to improve. Approaching the 400m eased when placed in restricted room between Hammoon Ballad and Barefoot.
 
Hammoon Ballad – Hampered when tightened for room shortly after the start. A short distance later steadied when tightened for room between Grand Bouquet and Intrigue, both of which shifted ground.
 
River Of Gold – Hampered when tightened for room shortly after the start. A short distance later steadied when tightened for room between Grand Bouquet, which shifted out and Hammoon Ballad, which was taken in by Intrigue.
 
Intrigue – Bumped Hammoon Ballad shortly after the start and became unbalanced. Near the 1100m eased when placed in restricted room and then raced three wide for the remainder.
 
Winning Ways – Overraced passing the 1600m when being restrained to obtain cover.
 
Re Edit – Approaching the 1500m awkwardly placed at the heels of Winning Ways and had to be steadied.
 
Barefoot – Overraced in the early stages.
 
Etana – Held up rounding the home turn.
Pinup Miss – When asked to comment on the performance jockey B. Shinn stated that the filly raced keenly throughout and failed to finish the race off as expected. Jockey Shinn was of the opinion that the filly may have failed to handle the track conditions.
 
 
Race 5 – Gold Coast Harley-Davidson Bat Out Of Hell – 900m
 
Spurcraft – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a post race cough and displaying an abnormal respiratory noise.
 
Tarzan – Bumped at the start.
 
Volkoff – Began awkwardly.
 
Whypeeo – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 500m steadied from heels, shifted out and bumped Prompt Return. Obliged to race wide rounding the home turn.
 
Viceman – Began awkwardly.
 
Aggravate – Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly thereafter. Rounding the home turn steadied when placed in restricted room.
 
Prompt Return – Reared as the start was effected and was hampered shortly thereafter. Bumped near the 500m. Rounding the home turn steadied from the heels of Whypeeo. Raced wide throughout.
 
Misery – Bumped near the 500m. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Mishani El Lobo – Leaving the 500m steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of Tarzan.
 
Plateau Gold – Raced wide without cover throughout. Stewards accepted the explanation for the late declaration of A. Gibbons.
 
Race 6 – Australian Turf Club Trophy (Listed) – 1400m
 
Stewards acceded to a request from stable representative P. Shailer to scratch Cellarman at 1.18 p.m. due to the track downgrade.
 
Mishani Bullitt – Prior to entering the enclosure the horse shifted an off fore plate, which was subsequently replaced by the farrier, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Leaving the 500m eased when tightened for room between Zamex and Sovereign Nation, which laid out. Raced wide throughout.
 
Prioritise – Upon arriving behind the barriers the gelding underwent a veterinary examination after making contact with the running rail during the preliminary and was subsequently cleared to start. Stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
Zamex – Slow to begin.
 
Sovereign Nation – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
Malvern Estate – Near the 200m shifted in resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten.
 
Tribal Wisdom – Raced wide throughout.
 
Freddie Fox Trot – Jockey D. Griffin reported that the gelding overraced in the early and middle stages, which had a detrimental effect on its performance.
 
 
Race 7 – Brandons Gold Coast Guineas (Group 3) – 1200m
 
Stewards acceded to a request from trainer T. Gollan to scratch Zoustyle at 2.38 p.m. due to the track downgrade. As the scratching was broadcast prior to the release of the initial QOP market no deductions were ordered.
 
Defence Missile – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
Million – Upon straightening App J. Grob dropped his whip.
 
Boomsara – Jockey T. Clark reported that the gelding failed to handle today’s heavy track conditions.
 
Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Heavy 10 retrospective.
 
 
Race 8 – TAB A.D. Hollindale Stakes (Group 2) – 1800m
 
Stewards acceded to a request from stable representative L. Prior to scratch Savvy Coup at 3.18 p.m. due to the track downgrade. As the scratching was broadcast prior to the release of the initial QOP market no deductions were ordered.
 
My Nordic Hero – Slow to begin.
 
Youngstar – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
Fit For Purpose – Began awkwardly.
 
Tally – Slow to begin.
 
Red Alto – Jockey B. Stewart lost the use of his off side iron passing the 600m.
 
Life Less Ordinary – Raced wide without cover throughout.
Kenedna – When questioned as to the performance jockey C. Douglas stated that the mare travelled well in the early and middle stages however, failed to respond as expected when placed under pressure rounding the home turn. Jockey Douglas was of the opinion today’s heavy track conditions may have prevented the mare from quickening as expected upon straightening.
 
Luvaluva – Jockey B. Shinn reported the mare failed to handle today’s heavy track conditions.
 
 
Race 9 – Attwood Marshall Lawyers Silk Stocking (Listed) – 1200m
 
Femme Fireball was declared a late scratching at 8.24 a.m. on veterinary advice. Co-trainer C. Anderson will be advised that a veterinary certificate will be required.
 
Stewards acceded to a request from trainer T. Gollan to scratch Outback Barbie at 1.39 p.m. due to the track downgrade.
 
Stewards acceded to a request from trainer T. Edmonds to scratch From Within at 3.18 p.m. due to the track downgrade.
 
Platimum Angel – Began awkwardly.
 
Test The World – Bumped at the start. Jockey T. Clark reported the mare did not appreciate today’s heavy track conditions.
 
Indecision – Bumped at the start.
 
Epidemic – Near the 800m steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of Sexy Eyes.
 
Final Zero – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Quilista – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Demerara – Raced wide throughout.
 
Sexy Eyes – A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare had been galloped on both hind legs, resulting in the loss of the near hind plate and lacerations to both off hind heels.
