Race 1 – TAB Maiden Handicap – 900m
 
Trainer T. McCarthy was fined the sum of $100 for presenting SAY SEVENA to race without winkers which was part of the fillys advertised gear.
 
The start was delayed when NO DOUBT A LADY dislodged its rider en-route to the barriers and made heavy contact with two sections of the outside running rail before being recaptured after travelling a short distance. Stewards declared NO DOUBT A LADY a late scratching at 12.06pm. All monies invested on NO DOUBT A LADY were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and place-getters prior to 12.06pm:-

A post-race veterinary examination revealed multiple lacerations to the legs and also a deep cut to the near hind pastern and as a result received treatment on course. Trainer D. Schmidt was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
The start was further delayed to allow track staff to carry out remedial work on two sections of rail.
 
ICELANDER – Began awkwardly. When afforded the opportunity to comment on the below market performance, Jockey G. Colless stated that his mount was inclined to lay out throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
HEATHROW – Slow to muster speed.
 
PERJURY – Raced wide without cover for the majority of event.
 
MATELLO – Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
 
Race 2 – CNW Electrical QTIS 3YO Maiden Handicap – 1400m
 
Co-Trainer T. Edmonds was reprimanded under AR102 for failing to lodge a Stable Return recording that IN WAVES had been gelded.
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey A. Allen (MYSTERIOUS LADY) to view the official photo finish for first and after doing so he was satisfied with the Judges placings. Stewards subsequently declared correct weight on the Judges numbers.
 
DO THE MOUNTAIN – Hampered for room at the start. Over-raced when being restrained in the early stages in an attempt to obtain cover, however, was unable to do so and raced three wide without cover for the majority of event.
 
LUNCH SESSION - Hampered for room at the start.
 
TOFFIE LADY – Began awkwardly.
 
DISSOLVE – Leaving the 1000m had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of IN WAVES and as a result lost ground and trailed the field throughout and was uncompetitive. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainers representative Mr M. Downes was advised that a warning would be placed against the gelding due to it being uncompetitive.
 
MYSTERIOUS LADY – Jockey A. Allen reported at scale that his mount laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
Jockey J. Watkins (AIR BLAZER) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race. Jockey Watkins was fined the sum of $300. When determining penalty, Stewards were of the view that it had cost his mount 5th place.
 
Race 3 – Schneider Electrical Maiden Handicap – 1400m
 
Stewards accepted the explanation for the late declaration of App. N. Fazackerley on LILIERO.
 
App. S. Tomlinson (DAUNTING WARRIOR) was fined the sum of $200 for failing to claim his full allowance.
 
Stable representative for Trainer M. Dunn was advised that a fine of $100 would be imposed for failing to declare Jockey T. Williams as the rider of LUVDISC by the prescribed time.
 
QUITE EASILY DONE – Slow to begin and then trailed the field throughout.
 
OURLASTPENNY – Buffeted between runners at the start.
 
FREEDOM FACTOR – Shifted out at the start and bumped OURLASTPENNY.


SEAMAGIC – From its wide barrier was restrained shortly after the start to obtain a position with cover towards the rear of the field. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
LOCUST – Raced 3 wide without cover in the early and middle stages. When weakening rounding the home turn, raced in restricted room after being buffeted between runners and as a result lost ground.
 
LILIERO – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
LUVDISC – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Stewards questioned App. T. Williams in regards to the tactics in the early and middle stages and as to the reasons she left a three wide position with cover near the 800m to improve wider on the track. Ms Williams stated that after obtaining cover and being crossed by LILIERO, her mount was inclined to race keenly and as a result she elected to shift wider on the track and improve forward. Stewards advised Ms. Williams that she had erred at this stage of the race and she should have made a greater effort to maintain her position with cover.
 
STARLIGHTER – Rounding the home turn was placed in restricted room for a short distance and had to be steadied when entering the home straight.
 
DAUNTING WARRIOR – Rounding the home turn when attempting to secure clear running, shifted out making contact with LOCUST.
 
ARZU – Jockey A. Spinks reported at scale that his mount raced keenly in the early stages.
 
After the running of this event, the track was upgraded to a Good 3.
 
Race 4 – Haneco Lighting Class 2 Plate – 1100m
 
HEART OF AUSTRALIA was a late scratching at 7.38am. Stewards accepted the explanation for the late scratching.
 
DREAM SERENADE – Bumped heavily by MIGHTY MITTERE which shifted in at the start.
 
DORSET COAST – Raced wide in the early stages before improving forward to obtain a position with cover near the 600m.
 
MISSED OUT – Near the 200m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of DORSET COAST after being disappointed for a run. Jockey S. Galloway reported to Stewards that after interference near the 200m when out of contention he elected to desist from pressuring his mount for the remainder of the event.
 
MILLION – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
JULES SPIRIT – App. T. Williams reported at scale that her mount laid out rounding the home turn and also for the majority of the home straight placing her at some disadvantage.
 
Race 5 – Prysmian C,G&E Class 1 Handicap – 1300m
 
Trainer M Eggleston was fined the sum of $100 for failing to declare App. N. Fazackerley as the rider of RAGING ROYAL by the prescribed time.
 
Whilst parading, ORIENTAL RULER reared and struck App. A. Spinks in the head. After being examined by the ambulance officers, App. Spinks was stood down from his engagement. Stewards permitted App. C. Frater-Hill to replace him. Trainer K. Baumann was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings pre-race manners. This caused a delay to the start of the event. App. Spinks was advised that he would require a medical clearance and to complete a cognitive test before riding again.
 
LORD OF THE DREAMZ – Trainer A. Plumb advised that the instructions would be to settle further back in the field if circumstances permit. Raced 3 wide without cover in a forward position.
 
RAGING ROYAL – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Race 6 – Brooks F&M Class 1 Handicap – 1300m
 
The start was delayed when EMSHALKY became fractious and kicked the back gates. EMSHALKY was subsequently removed, underwent a veterinary examination which cleared the mare to take its place.
 
DULCIE TIE - Connections advised that the instructions would be to settle further back in the field if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly towards the rear of the field.
 
CROWN DANCER – Slow to begin.
 
NO TIME LIKE NOW – Bumped at the start. Approaching the 800m had to be checked after improving onto the heels of AMERICAN LOVE.
 
MISS SIZZ – Severely hampered at the start after being bumped by NO TIME LIKE NOW which was taken in by IN HER ZONE which began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Approaching the 800m had to be checked to avoid the heels of TRUE QUALITY which lost ground. Near the 500m when attempting to shift out, had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of CROWN DANCER.
 
NOTHING NEEDED – Near the 800m improved onto the heels of DECISIVE HEART and had to be steadied.
 
AMERICAN LOVE – Steadied near the 800m after improving onto the heels of TRUE QUALITY which lost ground at that point.
 
JUST GIVEME RUBIES – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
LADY EIGHTY EIGHT – Stewards questioned App. S. Tomlinson regarding his riding between the 600m and 400m and as to the apparent lack of vigour. App. Tomlinson explained that his instructions were to settle at the rear of the field and then to attempt to improve rounding the home turn to the inside of runners. He added that rounding the home turn MISS SIZZ which he was following shifted out causing him to be hesitant to improve wider on the track or to comply with his instructions and improve to the inside. He further added that once entering the home straight he was able to improve wider on the track as the runners to his inside had failed to improve. Stewards advised App. S. Tomlinson that he had erred at this stage of the race in that he should have ridden with more vigour to improve forward at this critical stage of the race. Stewards bearing in mind his status as an apprentice, took the matter no further.
 
TRUE QUALITY – A post-race veterinary examination failed revealed no abnormalities.
 
Jockey A. Allen (MYSTIC BROOK) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) for permitting his mount to shift in near the 800m when insufficiently clear of DECISIVE HEART which was taken in causing IN HER ZONE to also be taken in resulting in TRUE QUALITY being severely tightened for room and having to be checked. Jockey Allen was suspended from riding in races for a period of 11 days to commence midnight 10/08/2019 and to expire midnight 21/08/2019.
 
Race 7 – Clevertronics BenchMark 65 Handicap – 1800m
 
SOLARCRAFT was a late scratching at 8.39am acting on veterinary advice.
 
LIMBO STAR – Slow to begin. Near the 700m had to be steadied when attempting to improve to the inside of CONSULAR where there was doubtful room. App. S. Tomlinson was advised to exercise greater care when attempting narrow runs in future.
 
WHAKAREWAREWA – Slow to begin. Jockey S. Galloway reported at scale that the gelding was disappointing in its finishing effort after having a favourable run throughout. He noted that the gelding was up in class after having won a maiden at its last start. He indicated that connections will now consider sending the gelding for a spell.
 
GROSVENOR BRIDGE – Slow into stride.
 
AIRLIE MAN – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of event.
 
SOLITARY ROSE – Raced wide from the 800m.
 
NORDIC SHOW – Held up rounding the home turn until the early stages of the home straight.
 
INVERARAY – Leaving the 200m had to be steadied when tightened for room and was obliged to shift in to secure clear running.
 
Race 8 – TAB Class 4 Handicap – 1400m
 
Trainer J. Smerdon was fined the sum of $100 for the late declaration of Jockey J. Taylor on ALASKAN SUN.
 
WILLS BID – Trainer A. Plumb advised that the instructions would be to settle in a more forward position if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly and settled in a leading position.
 
TWILIGHTER – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
VOLOMITE – A short distance after the start had to be eased from the heels of REPOSITION which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey G. Colless (REPOSITION) was advised to give greater clearance in future. Near the 800m had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of COLLINS CREEK.
 
REPOSITION – When racing wide in the early stages, commenced to race keenly when being restrained to obtain cover. Jockey G. Colless reported to Stewards that as he had concerns that something may have been amiss with the gelding, he desisted from continuing to pressure his mount over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Connections were advised that the gelding must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start and also provide a veterinary clearance with the results of an ECG.
 
THE GREAT BOOMBINO – After being crossed by WACK EM near the 1100m had to be steadied from heels.
 
COLLINS CREEK – Approaching and passing the 800m proved difficult to settle. Raced wide for the majority of event.
 
STAR SILK – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
SMART AS ATTACK – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
SORNJA – App. N Fazackerley reported that his mount may not have appreciated todays firm surface.
