Jockey T. Timbery (ESPANYOL) pleaded guilty to two charges of careless riding under AR131(a) for permitting his mount to shift in near the 1000m when not clear of ENTERTAINER resulting in that gelding having to be checked. Furthermore, ESPANYOL continued to shift in at a point approaching and passing the 900m when not clear of ALEXANDRA ROAD resulting in that horse being tightened onto the running rail and requiring its rider to take hold of his mount. On both charges, Jockey Timbery was suspended from riding in races for a period of 13 days to commence midnight 19/10/19 and to expire midnight 01/11/19 with both penalties to be served concurrently.

Race 2 – Attwood Marshall Lawyers QTIS 3yo Maiden Handicap – 1400m

ELLYSAY – Jumped very awkwardly and shifted out abruptly resulting in POWERING and BEAUETA being checked. Raced very fiercely in the early stages and hung out despite the efforts of its rider and continued to hang out for a major part of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Stable representative Mr Downs was advised that the horse must compete satisfactorily in a barrier trial prior to racing again.

BEAUETA – Checked at the start. Near the 800m, commenced to over-race and had to be restrained from the heels of MAKEUP.

POWERING – Checked at the start. Stewards asked Jockey R. Plumb for an explanation regarding the geldings performance. Jockey Plumb explained that after being severely checked at the start, he settled at the rear of the field and the gelding contacted the rail on two occasions passing the 1000m when racing to the inside of BEAUETA. He added that the gelding finished fairly in the home straight but in his opinion the interference at the start had a direct bearing on todays performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.

ALL BOOM – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
