Trainer L. Kelly was advised that the gelding would require a Barrier Certificate prior to resuming racing. Mr Kelly was also advised that the gelding would be required to demonstrate that it was capable of parading to the satisfaction of Stewards. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

DREAMACE – Began awkwardly. Bumped near the 350m and again near the 250m. Shortly thereafter its rider had to steady from the heels of FAST THINKER which shifted in. App. L. Kilner (FAST THINKER) was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for permitting her mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of other runners.

RELENTLESS MISS – Shifted out shortly after jumping. Then inclined to over-race near the 1000m causing tightening to DREAMACE momentarily.

DEEP ECHO – Raced ungenerously during the early stages and when approaching the 700m improved onto the heels of AND FINALLY and steadied. Held up approaching the home turn. Shortly thereafter, shifted wider and bumped heavily with DREAMACE at the 350m. Inclined to lay out when placed under pressure in the home straight and proved difficult to ride. Jockey Anthony Allen was reminded of his obligations to ensure that his mounts keep a true line in the run to the finish.

MR SO GOOD – Raced 3 wide for the majority of event. Obliged to momentarily steady from heels near the 250m.

WHITEBAIT PATTIE – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped MILLION. Stewards questioned Jockey C. Frater regarding the tactics adopted on WHITEBAIT PATTIE. Jockey Frater stated that the instructions were to remain neutral out of the gates in an attempt to get the gelding to settle and prevent it from over-racing. The gelding then continued to lose contact with the second last horse despite Jockey Fraters efforts. Trainer T. Cowan confirmed the instructions, however, expected the gelding to race more prominently. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Cast its near fore plate in running. Trainer T. Cowan was advised that he must obtain a veterinary clearance prior to the gelding resuming racing.
