SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From the Gold Coast 8.1.21

Trainer M. Costa reported that in the days following its race, MANHOOD was exhibiting signs of soreness across the hindquarters for which it had received chiropractic treatment. Mr Costa advised that he will monitor the manner in which the colt responds to this treatment before considering whether to continue with its current preparation.

GENERAL

As Jockeys B Park and R Stewart were not riding at the meeting, and K McEvoy was unable to fulfill his engagement in race 9, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary.

Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting-

Race 2- ALWAYS ON SHOW- A. Mallyon. +1/2kg
Race 3- REBEL RAMA- B .Prebble. +1/2kg
Race 6- ANIMATE- A. Mallyon. +1/2kg
Race 6- PROFIT- B. Prebble. +1/2kg
Race 8- GLORIOUS RUBY- A. Mallyon. +1/2kg
Race 9- STUTTERING- B. Prebble. +1/2kg

Race 1: MAGIC MILLIONS MAIDEN PLATE 1200 metres

The start was initially delayed when AMBITIOUS SPIRIT and CHART BUSTER both became fractious in the barriers. After being removed from the barriers and examined by the veterinary surgeon, were subsequently passed fit to start.

The start was further delayed when CITIZEN reared over in the gates and became cast in the barriers. Subsequently was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice at 12:17pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight ordered that all monies invested on CITIZEN be refunded with the following deductions to apply for bets placed prior to 12:17pm-

1st- 9cents the win 8cents the place
2nd-8cents the place
3rd-10cents the place

The start was further delayed when CHART BUSTER became fractious in the barrier getting its off fore limb cast over the partition sustaining an abrasion to the off fore. Subsequently was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice at 12:23pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight ordered that all monies invested on CHART BUSTER be refunded with the following deductions to apply for bets placed between 12:17pm and 12:23pm-

1st- 4cents the win 4cents the place.
2nd- 8cents the place.
3rd- 10cents the place
Trainer A Freedom was advised that he would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate for CITIZEN prior to the colts next race start.

AMBITIOUS SPIRIT– Raced three wide without cover for the majority.

JACKSON ON TIME – Had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of WARMTH near the 50m.

ALLUSIONIST– Slow to begin.

HEIR APPARENT - Bumped on jumping and was then slow to muster early speed.

DEVIL'S THROAT - Began awkwardly making contact with another runner and losing ground. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages whilst being restrained. Raced three wide with cover for the majority. Jockey J McDonald had his license to ride in races suspendered for a period of seven days for using his whip excessively during the event that being on 17 occasions. The period of suspension to commence at midnight 15.1.2022 and to expire at midnight 22.1.2022.

SING A LOVE SONG – Trainer G Moore has advised the colt will race in a more forward position if circumstances permit. Subsequently after beginning awkwardly settled in the second half of the field.

WARMTH – Laid out under pressured over the final 100m.

COUNTRY SHOWGIRL – Began awkwardly. Raced tight and bumped over the remaining concluding stages.

CARARTIE – Bumped heavily near the 50m.

MISS SEATTLE – Raced three wide with cover for the majority. Laid out rounding the home turn and was steadied near the 350m when awkwardly placed at heels.

ISLAND MAGIC – Steadied outwards near the 50m and in doing so made heavy contact with CARARTIE.

IMMEDIATE RESPONSE – Near the 700m improved onto heels and was steadied.

YOURALLTHAT - Began awkwardly.


Race 2: MAGIC MILLIONS OPEN 1800 metres


RELOADED – When attempting to gain clear running making the turn into the straight shifted outwards making heavy contact with WHEELHOUSE on a number of occasions.

WHEELHOUSE – Bumped on a number of occasions heading into the home straight.

WILLO TITTO – Near the 350m had to be steadied from the heels of SALTPETER which shifted outwards.

DZSENIFER – Bumped at the start. Raced wide in the early stages before securing a position with cover near the 1300m. Hung in for the majority.

GREEN JACKET - Began awkwardly. Checked near the 900m when DZSENIFER hung in despite the efforts of its rider.

SALTPETER – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start.

ALWAYS ON SHOW – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner before dipping shortly after the start.

Race 3: $1M AUDI CENTRE GOLD COAST MAGIC MILLIONS SUBZERO 2400 metres

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Good 3.

PARRY SOUND - Over the concluding stages bumped with REBEL RAMA on a number of occasions.

WAPITI – Jockey T Marshall reported that he felt the gelding was short in its action on returning to scale. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to lame in the near fore leg. Trainer G Duncan was advised that he would be required to obtain a veterinary certificate for WAPITI prior to the geldings next race start.

FUN FACT – Laid in during the middle stages.

OUTLANDOS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

REBEL RAMA – Raced three wide until a point near the 1600m. Over the concluding stages bumped with PARRY SOUND on a number of occasions.

COMMANDER BELL – Slow into stride.

Race 4: $1M TAB MAGIC MILLIONS FILLIES & MARES 1300 metres

Following the running of race 3 the track was upgraded to a Good 3.

KRONE – Raced three wide with cover for the majority.

VULPINE - Jockey R Wiggins was fined $1000 under AR132(5) for use of his whip excessively during the event that being on 15 occasions.

SALATEEN – Made contact with the barrier partition on jumping. Near the 700m was held up for a short distance.

INCREDULOUS DREAM – Began awkwardly. Lost its near fore plate in running. Raced three wide without cover for the majority.

GEORGIE'S PRIDE – Raced keenly whilst being restrained in the early stages.

LADY OF LUXURY – Near the 900m was steadied when awkwardly placed at heels. Held up and unable to improve for a considerable distance passing the 150m and went to the line without being fully tested.

VAN GIZ – Raced keenly in the early stages.

SHE CAN SING – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced four wide without cover for the majority.

BEACHBREAK – Hampered at the start and lost ground. Jockey R Fradd reported that the mare failed to stretch out in the home straight which attributed to the firm racing surface.

STANDOFF – Steadied when placed in restricted room near the 900m.

Race 5: $1M IT'S LIVE! IN QUEENSLAND MAGIC MILLIONS SNIPPETS 1200 metres

BALLER – Jockey T Berry reported that the gelding was reluctant to stretch out in the home straight when placed under pressure which attributed to the firm surface.

ROHERYN – Near the 350m when tightened for room and checked. At subsequent inquiry jockey B Nothdurft the rider of TOTALLY CHARMED pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the terms of AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift out at this point of the race when insufficiently clear of ROHERYN which was tightened for room and checked. Jockey B Nothdurft had his license to ride in races suspended for a period on 16 days to commence midnight at 15.1.2022 to conclude on midnight the 31.1.2022. In considering plenty Stewards were mindful of the feature race status of this event.

TOTALLY CHARMED – Bled both nostrils during the event. As this was the second occasion on which the gelding had bled it will now incur a life ban from racing.

FITUESE – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

CONSTANT FLIGHT – Raced three wide until being allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader near the 600m.

BLONDEAU – Began awkwardly. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.

DREAMREACHER – Near the 300m had to be eased off the heels of TOTALLY CHARMED which shifted in and away from the heels of FITUESE.

CHICAGO CUB - Connections advised it is the intention to ride the gelding further forward if circumstances permit. Subsequently after beginning awkwardly settled in a rearward position.

Race 6: $1M MAGIC MILLIONS CUP 1400 metres

KEMENTARI – Slow to begin. Jockey N Rawiller reported that the gelding was reluctant to stretch out in the home straight when placed under pressure which attributed to the firm surface.

ELEVEN ELEVEN – Held up from the 400m to the 300m.

BALLISTIC BOY – Laid in, in the home straight.

HARD EMPIRE – Raced three wide without cover for majority.

AIM – Slow to begin.

EDISON – Raced four wide without cover for the majority.

SAMBRO – Slow to begin.

ANIMATE – Held up from the 400m to the 200m.

PROFIT – Slow to begin.

Race 7: $2M THE STAR GOLD COAST MAGIC MILLIONS 2YO CLASSIC 1200 metres

STUPENDO – Slow to begin.

MISHANI SPARTAN – Slow to begin.

GOLDEN ARTIE – Bumped on jumping. Had to be steadied outwards away from heels near the 350m.

MISHANI PERSUASION– Slow to begin.

THELWELL – Slow to begin.

SOARING AMBITION – Raced three wide without cover for the majority.

MISS HELLFIRE – Jockey T Clark advised the Stewards that in his opinion the filly failed to back up from its start seven days prior.

BRIGHT BLUE SKY – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped shortly after. Raced keenly in the early stages. When jockey B Prebble was questioned regarding the run, he stated the filly only travelled fairly in running and from the 450m was reluctant to stride out and as such he eased the filly down in the straight. Post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame both fore legs and would require veterinary certificate prior to its next race start.


Race 8: $2M GOLD COAST MAGIC MILLIONS 3YO GUINEAS 1400 metres

JAMAEA – Tightened for room at the start. Near the 1000m steadied when crowded by CONSTRUCT which shifted in and away from KING OF SPARTA.

KING OF SPARTA – Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained in the early stages.

RELEASE THE BEANS – Slow to begin and was then tightened for room shortly after the start. Held up from the home turn to 100m.

STARMAN – Near the 1100m was steadied to avoid the heels of RHAPSODY ROSE which laid in. Raced three wide without cover for the majority.

I AM LETHAL – Was held up and unable to secure clear running from the 300m until passing the 100m.

RHAPSODY ROSE – Began awkwardly.

MISS HIPSTAR – Over raced in the early stages. Near the 350m steadied when GLORIOUS RUBY shifted out when attempting to obtain clear running.

ME ME LAGARDE – Began awkwardly.

GLORIOUS RUBY – Held up from the 400m to 300m.

SHIHONKA – Tightened for room at the start.

INDISCREETLY – Jockey G Cartwright stated in regard to the filly weakening over the concluding stages that in her opinion the filly may have come to the end of its race preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. Trainer D Bougoure indicated that the filly would now be sent for a spell.

RUBY KISSES – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

DOVETAIL DIVA – Tightened for room at the start.


Race 9: $1M RACING QUEENSLAND MAGIC MILLIONS QTIS OPEN 1300 metres

The start was delayed when LADY BANFF became fractious in the barrier getting her near hind caught between the gates sustaining a laceration to the near side hock and to the near side hip. Subsequently was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice at 5:22pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight ordered that all monies invested on LADY BANFF be refunded with the following deductions to apply –

1st- 10cents the win 11cents the place.
2nd- 12cents the place.
3rd- 12cents the place

CHAPTER AND VERSE – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover for the majority.

MIAMI FLEISS - Slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover for the majority. Was inclined to hang inwards in the straight placing its rider at a disadvantage.

BOOMTOWN LASS – Slow to begin.

COLPO DI TAMBURO - Shortly after the start bumped heavily and became unbalanced.

EF TROOP – Disappointed for a run passing the 300m.

DR WHY NOT – Shortly after the start bumped heavily and became unbalanced.

STUTTERING – Raced three wide without cover for the majority. Near the 200m had to be eased when awkwardly placed on the heels of MIAMI FLEISS, after being bumped by DR WHY NOT which had been carried out slightly by WISDOM OF WATER which in turn had been carried outwards slightly by MISHANI FRAUDSTER when that gelding shifted out and away from THE ODYSSEY which shifted to the outside of BOOMNOVA. In the circumstance Stewards were of the opinion that there was insufficient culpability of any rider to warrant a charge. However riders were reminded to their obligations when shifting ground in the future.

SHE ZA BOSS - Bumped at the start.

STYLISH SAGA - Slow to begin. Post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in its near fore knee and would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next race start.

SAFEWORK – Bumped at the start. Shortly after the start steadied off the heels of DR WHY NOT which shifted out after being bumped. Was unable to secure clear running between the 400m and 100m.

BELTARIA – Slow to begin.
