Race 1: INTERLINK/SEAWAY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (1200m)
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately five minutes when technical issues arose with the photo finish camera which required rectification.
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards and Apprentice J. Golden (MOUNTBATTEN) to view footage of the start. Once satisfied that the gelding’s poor start was directly attributable to the gelding’s barrier manners, correct weight was declared on the Judges’ semaphored numbers.
 
DOCTOR TEEKAY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to start. Began awkwardly. Approaching the 800m, when commencing to lay-out was corrected by its rider and in doing so momentarily tightened ARTIE’S DREAMTIME. Apprentice C. Sutherland was advised to exercise greater care. Raced wide and without cover thereafter.
 
LIP SIP SUK – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ROWDASH – Raced wide and without cover from the 800m.
 
ARTIE’S DREAMTIME – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Momentarily tightened for room approaching the 800m, momentarily tightened for room when DOCTOR TEEKAY shifted in.
 
EASY COME – Hung-in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BETTER THAN ROSES – Performed below market expectations. Apprentice R. Thorburn stated the mare would be better suited over shorter distances. He further added that the mare appeared to have choked down in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
MOUNTBATTEN – Stewards accepted the reason for the late declaration of Apprentice J. Golden as the rider of the gelding. Began very awkwardly, before shifting out abruptly resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced and consequently lost significant ground. Tailed the field throughout. Trainer P. Rice was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record for its barrier manners.
 
PONTOON PETE – Began awkwardly.
 
HE’S SPOKEN – Began awkwardly. Apprentice A. Donald stated the gelding would derive significant fitness benefit from the event.
 
Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Soft 5.
 
Race 2: WAGNERS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE (1100m)
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately five minutes when BAILEYS BLUE dislodged its rider behind the barriers and proved difficult to recapture. The start was further delayed when several runners proved difficult to load.
 
FREYA’S MAGIC – Slow to begin. Laid-out rounding the home-turn.
 
TORRENTIAL – Leaving the 200m, shifted in when insufficiently clear of CERARED who was obliged to steady and alter course. Apprentice A. Donald was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding.
 
L’IL BLINX – Began awkwardly.
 
CERARED – Raced in restricted room rounding the home-turn. Leaving the 200m, when attempting a marginal run, obliged to shift out and around heels to obtain clear running when TORRENTIAL shifted in. Approaching the 150m, when shifting out from heels momentarily inconvenienced SWISS GROUND. Apprentice S. McCann was advised to exercise greater care.

CRYPTESS – Apprentice Z. Sprie was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions, one more than permitted prior to the 100m.
 
BAILEYS BLUE – Harmlessly dislodged its rider behind the barriers before being recaptured. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to start. Over-raced in the early stages of the event.
 
IMPOSING TIGER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained minor lacerations consistent of being galloped on.
 
 
Race 3: GRAINCORP BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP (1000m)
 
GLENCOE PEARL – Began awkwardly. Over-raced during the middle stages before becoming awkwardly placed on heels for some distance leaving the 600m. Held-up for clear running rounding the home-turn.
 
OLD TOWN ROAD – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
BETTER PAGE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after making contact with VALAR DOHAERIS leaving the mounting yard and passed fit to start. Began awkwardly.
 
DREAMER’S GIFT – Laid-out rounding the home-turn.
 
GRENADO – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Carried wider leaving the 100m when POWER SISTER shifted out abruptly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
POWER SISTER – Began very awkwardly before shifting in abruptly and as a consequence settled further back than may have been expected. Laid out under pressure in the home straight, before shifting out abruptly leaving the 100m, momentarily inconveniencing GRENADO before being corrected by its rider.
 
PETA CALADA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after sustaining minor lacerations during transport and passed fit to start.
 
VALAR DOHAERIS - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after making contact with BETTER PAGE and harmlessly dislodging Apprentice C. Krahnen leaving the mounting yard and passed fit to start.
 
SODBUSTER – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
 
 
Race 4: QUBE PORTS RATINGS BAND 0-50 HANDICAP (1400m)
 
JAKAT – Approaching the 1200m, when attempting to obtain a position closer to the running rail, directed EAST ESPLANADE inwards onto the heels of MY GIRL SKY. Apprentice J. Golden was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding. Approaching the 150m, shifted in marginally, tightening PHEEBLE’S SPIRIT between runners and bumped. Apprentice J. Golden was advised to exercise greater care.
 
ULTIMATE POWER – Slow to begin. Laid-out rounding the home-turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer K. Kirwin stated that consideration would now be given to the gelding’s racing future.
 
AWAIT THE STORM – When questioned regarding the gelding leading in the event, in contrast to its previous pattern, Apprentice S. McCann stated that the gelding was suited being down in class, and benefitted from the addition of winkers to its gear.
 
EAST ESPLANADE – Stewards accepted the reason for the late declaration of Apprentice C. Sutherland as the rider of the gelding. Further, Stewards permitted Apprentice C. Sutherland to only claim 1.5kg of his 3kg claim allowance. Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1200m, directed inwards by JAKAT before becoming very awkwardly placed on the heels of MY GIRL SKY and obliged to be shifted wider. Raced wide and without cover thereafter.
 
MY GIRL SKY – Began awkwardly.
 
PHEEBLE’S SPIRIT – Approaching the 200m, became badly crowded between JAKAT and PERSIAN FRONT, both of which shifted ground, bumped and became unbalanced for several strides. Laid in under pressure approaching the 150m, directing PERSIAN FRONT onto the heels of THRIFTY. Apprentice T. Noble was advised to exercise greater care and straighten her mounts.
 
PERSIAN FRONT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Warwick on Monday, 27 November 2023 and passed fit to start. Approaching the 200m, shifted out and around the heels of THRIFTY to obtain clear running, and in doing so tightened PHEEBLE’S SPIRIT between runners and bumped. Apprentice C. Krahnen was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding.
 
CAPE CLUSTER – Began only fairly.
 
FAITHFUL MARYANNE – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
 
Race 5: PORT OF BRISBANE CUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP (1400m)
 
LAURIE – Performed below market expectations. Apprentice T. Noble stated that after the gelding commenced to give ground approaching the 600m, she became concerned with the gelding’s action and desisted from placing her mount under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery and the gelding to be exhibiting signs of heat stress. The Kropp Stable will follow up with Stewards in coming days.
 
MUIRON – Began awkwardly.
 
FITZROY BOY – Laid-out rounding the home-turn.
 
TERRIUS – Began awkwardly. Performed below market expectations. Rider A. Spinks stated that although the fast tempo of the event proved detrimental to the gelding’s winning chances, he still expressed disappointment with the performance.
 
MARTINI DANCER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DREAMSEEKER – Rider M. McDonald was reprimanded under AR132(7(a)(i) for using his whip on 16 occasions throughout the event, 2 more than permitted.
