Race 1: Marino Moller Lawyers/Chamber Of Commerce & Ind QTIS Maiden Plate 1100 metres:
1st – WHISPERS 2nd – CHANGEINTHEFORTUNE 3rd – RUN WINDRED 4th – MAKING HEADLINES

MONASHEE LASS and TARANIS were both late withdrawals at 8.10am when no riders were available.

LADY’S GATHERING – When no other rider was available Stewards permitted Apprentice A Holt to ride the mare 3.5kg over its declared weight.

FAVOURED ONE – After arriving at the barriers underwent a veterinary examination at the request of Jockey S Wilson and was found to be lame in the off foreleg. Subsequently was a late withdrawal at 1.37pm and when correct weight was declared it was ordered that all bets made on FAVOURED ONE be refunded in full and all other successful bets made on the race prior to 1.37pm be subject to the following deductions of 13c win and 12c place on the face value of the betting ticket. Trainer Mr G Porter was told that prior to the gelding racing again he must furnish a veterinary certificate of fitness.

ZULU AIR – Was fractious in the barriers and then was slow to begin.

MONTAGO – Was crowded at the start and then was reluctant to stretch out in the early stages.

Race 2: Hindquarter Quality Meats Gordonvale Class 6 Plate 1100 metres:
1st – MONDUKE 2nd – PERFECT KNOWLEDGE 3rd – GLAURUNG 4th – SEEK DE FORTUNE

ARONSON – Blundered at the start. Was held up in the early part of the straight then raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.

CLICK UP – Passing the winning post blundered, resulting in Apprentice S Wiseman becoming unbalanced and losing the use of her off side iron.

Race 3: Piccolo Constructions Benchmark 60 Handicap 1100 metres:
1st – HYDRIVE 2nd – RACING IN THE WIND 3rd – JACSAID 4th – SANDBAR JACK

The running of this race was delayed when a stablehand in the tie ups required treatment from the on course Ambulance officers after being kicked by a horse.

When no other rider was available stewards permitted Apprentice A Holt to ride HYDRIVE 0.5kg over its declared weight.

SANDBAR JACK – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.

PUDZIANOWSKI – Was hampered at the start then raced wide throughout.

MR BULLISTA – Began awkwardly with its head up then was reluctant to stretch out in the early stages. Stewards spoke to Apprentice M Murphy who was having his second race ride in relation to having a too tight of hold on his mounts in the barriers.

Passing the 600m BEADSWORTH which was inclined to race ungenerously had to be steadied when racing tight to the inside of JACSAID which was carried inwards by GENERAL BEEJAY. Jockey K Stone (GENERAL BEEJAY) was reprimanded under AR137(a).

Rounding the home turn BEADSWORTH had to be continually steadied when racing tight to the inside of JACSAID which shifted in. K Rockett (JACSAID) was told to exercise more care in future and ensure that he leaves sufficient racing room for runners to his inside.

LET’S SEE ACTION – Raced in restricted over the concluding stages.

Race 4: Mulgrave Central Mill/MM FNQ Up & Coming Stayers Benchmark 55 Handicap 1360 metres:
1st – HERE TO DASH 2nd – MANALUTE 3rd – CASHED UP BULLY 4th – HENASAR

BUSH VERSION – Was a late withdrawal at 8.10am when no rider was available.

TEST THE BEST – Shortly after the start clipped heels and blundered.

HENASAR – Began awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and made heavy contact with the dividing partition of the barriers resulting in Jockey W D’Avila becoming unbalanced in the saddle. Raced keenly in the early stages.

WILD RUMOURS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have been galloped on on the near hind leg resulting in significant lacerations. Trainer Ms N Homann was told that prior to the mare racing again a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced.

Following the running of this race Jockey W D’Avila reported that he sustained an injury to right hand.

Race 5: JPMI Roy Marsh Memorial Benchmark 70 Handicap 1360 metres:
1st – LIL’ RED MONKEY 2nd – GUNDY STAR 3rd – IDLE SITUATION 4th – RATTUS CONATUS

BILT LEICA – Refused to load into the barriers and was a late withdrawal at 4.43pm. Subsequently when correct weight was declared it was ordered that all bets made on BILT LEICA be refunded in full and all other successful bets made on the race prior to 1.37pm be subject to the following deductions of 23c win and 23c place on the face value of the betting ticket. Trainer Mr R Baker was told that a warning would be placed on the gelding and should it perform similarly in the future it would be placed in barrier trials to rectify its manners.

Passing the 600m JORDAN attempted to jump the crossing, made contact with the running and became unbalanced. MIDNITE RAID which was following was severely hampered and almost fell.

JORDAN – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a minor laceration to its near fore cannon.
