Supplementary Report:
Stewards will meet with club officials and the official starter in regards to an incident which took place after the field was released in Race 5 on todays program.

General:
The following horses which were returning from extended spells all underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to race.
Race 1 – Eye Of Ra
Race 2 – Belle Adele

Race 1: TOP SKIPS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1100 Metres

SAND AND OCEAN – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Began awkwardly.

GREAT SURVEY – Slow into stride.

POCKET FUGITIVE – Slow into stride.

WONG WAY – Tendency to lay in over the concluding stages racing tight with EYE OF RA to its inside.

LORD PROPHET – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have dislodged an off-side cap in the lower jaw.

EYE OF RA – Raced tight over the concluding stages to the inside of WONG WAY.

Stewards considered an objection lodged by L. Morrison the rider of EYE OF RA which finished 2ND against WONG WAY being declared the winner on the grounds of interference over the final 100 metres. It was established that leaving the 100 metres WONG WAY laid in and raced tight with EYE OF RA over the concluding stages. As the available patrol footage was inconclusive and did not show either horse losing momentum stewards dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the judge’s semaphored numbers.

1st – No 2 – WONG WAY
2ND – No 4 – EYE OF RA
3RD – No 5 – OLYMPIC MOTTO
4TH – No 3 – LORD PROPHET

Race 2: TUFF TYRES BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 1100 Metres

BELLE ADELE – Shifted in at the start bumping MASARED, became unbalanced and shifted out bumping CATCH DIS. Put in an awkward stride leaving the 500 metres and lost ground.

MASARED – Bumped on jumping. Difficulties obtaining clear running concluding stages and shifted inwards approaching the winning post.

CATCH DIS – After dwelling at the start was then inconvenienced by BELLE ADELE which shifted out and lost ground.

SCAMDEMIC – Eased over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a mild case of thumps.

Race 3: FULLER SPORTS 2023 BATTLE OF THE BUSH GORDONVALE QUALIFIER OPEN PLATE – 1100 Metres

TEMPO (NZ) – Began awkwardly and threw its head in the air and lost ground.

SYLVESTER – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 4: TOWN AND COUNTRY AG SERVICES KERRY COPPIN MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1360 Metres

ARUBA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was found to be lame in the near hind leg and was declared a late scratching at 1.11pm. Trainer D. Brennan was advised he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for the gelding prior to being permitted to race or trial again.

BRAZEN BRECCIA – Raced wide in the early stages.

COOPER GEM – Became unbalanced near the 700 metres and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

EAGLE EYE STAR – Over-raced in the middle stages.

TICTOC TICTOC – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 5: MM/CAIRNS HARDWARE/ROB KOCH MEM./FNQ U&C STAYERS/ROY MARSH MEM. BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1800 Metres

LIPEANSASS – Delayed the start when refused to load and was declared a late scratching at 4.36pm by order of stewards. On the announcement of
correct weight all monies invested on LIPEANSASS were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 12 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and
11 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable. Trainer M. Potiris was advised the gelding must obtain a further barrier certificate
prior to its next race start.

SWANKY SUE – Raced wide in the early stages.

SIZZLING SUN – Made the 800-metre crossing awkwardly.

DAMMOSQUITO – Raced wide in the early stages. Made the 800-metre crossing awkwardly. Rider I. Teh dropped her whip approaching the 100 metres.
