GENERAL:
When A Spradau was overweight stewards permitted the following riding changes as per the steward’s summary. A Spradau was fined $400 under AR120(b). Stewards took into account his poor record in relation to the rule.

Race 1: Brodie & Co Class B Handicap 800 metres:
1st – TRANSFUSION 2nd – GEARSTICK 3rd – RIVERS END 4th – PISTOLPACKINGPENNY

When T Chambers was overweight stewards permitted K Ballard to ride NUCLEAR MISSILE 1kg over its declared weight when no other rider was available. T Chambers was severely reprimanded under AR120(b).

NUCLEAR MISSILE – Shifted out at the start and made contact with another runner.

VILLAINOUS LASS - Shifted out at the start and made contact with another runner.

NICABELLE – Was bumped at the start.

PISTOLPACKINGPENNY – Was bumped at the start.

TRANSFUSION – Was slow to begin.

Race 2: Start Construction – Kevin From Heaven QTIS Maiden Plate 800 metres:
1st – FLIGHT RULER 2nd – DOLLARISE 3rd – ASHLEN 4th – GOOD MOOD

DOLLARISE – When no other rider was available stewards permitted A Spradau to ride the gelding 2kg over its declared weight. Bumped with another runner at the start then hung out rounding the home turn.

D Ballard rode ASHLEN.

FLIGHT RULER – Slow to begin.

LIBERTY MARKET – Was crowded at the start then raced wide near the 600m.

AGUABLANCA – Raced wide throughout.

CUMULOUS CLOUD – Was slow to begin then raced wide throughout.

GOOD MOOD – Raced wide rounding the home turn.

Race 3: Columba Catholic College/George Watson Memorial Benchmark 70 Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – SURPASSER 2nd – SHANTUNG BOXER 3rd – GHOST TRAIN 4th – TABASCO FORCE

TIANA – Shifted in at the start and made contact with another runner then raced wide throughout.

SHANTUNG BOXER – Was bumped at the start.

DESERT SWEEP – Shifted out at the start and made contact with another runner.

GHOST TRAIN – Bumped at the start.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight connections of SHANTUNG BOXER requested to the view the official photo. Having done so and when satisfied with the Judge’s decision correct weight was declared.

Race 4: Jack Powley Memorial/Niverak Smash Repairs Benchmark 60 Handicap 1150 metres:
1st – SHOW US THE WAY 2nd – COURT ACTION 3rd – MAN OF MELODY 4th – KASEY CHELSEA

MAN OF MELODY – Began awkwardly and threw its head in the air then raced ungenerously and wide in the early stages.

LEICA DUEL – Began awkwardly then raced wide throughout.

MAINS POWER - A post race veterinary examination of the mare which performed below market expectations did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr G Wiles said that it was now his intention to spell the mare, however was told that bearing in mind the poor performance a warning would be placed on its record.

Race 5: Burke Shire Cup Open Handicap 1300 metres:
1st – STRUMMING 2nd – HASLINGTON 3rd – ABDICATED 4th – ZED MAN

SMOOTH GENERAL – Slow to begin then raced wide most of the way.

ZED MAN – Raced wide passing the 1200m.

TUATARA – When questioned regarding the poor performance Apprentice T Tincknell explained that the gelding had worked well leading into the race and a forward showing was expected however in her opinion the gelding did not handle the track. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Race 6: MMG – Century Mine Benchmark 60 Handicap 1300 metres:
1st – REQUIREMENT 2nd – GUN AND POWER 3rd – DON’T THINK DO 4th – MORE DUST

AL COMMAND – When no other rider was available stewards permitted A Spradau to ride the gelding 2.5kg over its declared weight. Raced wide passing the 800m.

BULLRAMA – When no other rider was available stewards permitted D Ballard to ride the gelding 1kg over its declared weight.

KESTHIN – Raced wide throughout.

TEN TORINOS – Raced wide throughout.
