Race 1 – BMW Financial Services Benchmark 50 Handicap 1170m
HINTERLAND SAM – Began awkwardly and bumped another runner.
 
APPLAUSE A STAR – Bumped on jumping.
 
CIMARRON KID – Shifted out approaching the 900m and inconveniencing the runners to its outside.
 
GOSSIAUX – Approaching the 900m inconvenienced and shifted wider on the track
 
BRADY ‘N’ ME – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to not having had a race start for over 18 months and was subsequently cleared to race.
 
DARK FORCE – Had to be steadied from heels of GOSSIAUX approaching the 900m. App L Dillion the rider of CIMARRON KIDwas reprimanded and advised to show greater care when allowing her mounts to shift ground. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to suffering from abrasions to the left fore pastern and subsequently lame. Trainer C. Vick was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the geldings’ next race start.
 
SEE FOR YOURSELF – Raced 3 wide for the majority.
 
KENTFORD – Slow to muster speed. Steadied when placed in restricted room near the 850m. Laid in over concluding stages when tiring. When questioned by Stewards by the seemingly disappointing performance, Jockey G.Geran stated that it was the geldings’ first start after a long spell and that in his opinion the gelding would benefit from the run.
 
EVE’S JET – Began awkwardly and bumped at the start.
 
HARD ENOUGH – Shifted in and bumped another runner upon jumping. Raced wide in the early stages before shifting in approaching the 850m placing KENTFORD in restricted room and resulting in the gelding having to be steadied at the point in the race. Jockey K.Gates was reminded of her obligations when allowing her mount to shift ground in similar circumstances.
 
Race 2 – Tattersalls Racing Club QTIS Maiden Plate 1170m
CHILD SUPPORT – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out hampering runners to its outside.
 
SMARTY JACK – Hampered at the start between CHILD SUPPORT AND D’GREAT BEAUTY. Raced wide for the majority.
 
BRIGALOW QUEEN – Slow to begin. When questioned by Stewards about the seemingly disappointing performance, Jockey H. English reported that in her opinion the filly resented the rearward racing position and sand kickback and did not respond to her riding. A post race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings.
 
CYCLONE MIA – Raced wide for the majority.
 
BUCK’S ME BOY – Raced wide for the majority. Had a tendency to lay in during the straight.
 
WICKED GIRL – Slow to begin. Raced wide early and middle stages.
 
Race 3 – Jim Connolly Memorial Benchmark 60 Handicap 1030m
 
BLACK JAGUAR – Approaching the 800m put in a few awkward strides. When questioned Jockey S Sweeney reported that the mare did not appreciate the sand kickback when trailing the field.
 
TRIPLE WON – Slow to muster speed in the early stages.
 
DANSU – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 4 – BMW Accountants Benchmark 55 Handicap 1470m
 
DIA VERNON – Began awkwardly.
 
SHINNECOCK – Shifted out marginally at the 1000m and hampered LIFE BE IN IT. App L. Dillon was advised by Stewards to exercise more care when allowing her mount to shift ground. Raced wide for the majority.
 
LIFE BE IN IT – Steadied near the 1000m when hampered by another runner.
 
IF BY CHANCE – Raced 3 wide majority.
 
 
Race 5 – Brown Macauley & Warren Country Cups Challenge Qualifier/ Gympie Cup Open Handicap


The declaration of correct weight was delayed for Stewards and the connections of SENSATION ALLY to view the start footage and ascertain whether the mare had been afforded a fair start after concerns were raised by Jockey G.Hayes. Trainer J.Manzelman expressed to Stewards that he did not wish to proceed any further, therefore correct weight was declared on the semaphored judges’ numbers. 
 
ON DEMAND – Shifted in slightly after jumping.
 
CONGELATOR – Hampered between runners on jumping.
 
OGGIE – Began awkwardly and shifted in hampering CONGELATOR. Raced wide for the majority.
 
ARIGOLD – Raced wide for the majority.
 
GRANDE CASADORA – Raced wide in the middle and concluding stages.
PERSISTENT SHADOW – Slow to muster speed.
 
KALANGADOO CHROME –  Stewards permitted Jockey J. Missen to ride his mount 0.5kg over minimum due to no other rider being available. Began awkwardly.
 
SENSATION ALLY – Slow to begin.
