The start of this race was delayed when Apprentice B Youngberry was dislodged in the barriers when her mount ENTERPRISE SUCCESS became fractious and put its head down in the barriers. When this incident occurred the geldings bridle became separated from the horse and was required to be replaced before Apprentice Youngberry could remount and the start could be effected.
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards reviewed the start after it was established that ENTERPRISE SUCCESS did not wear blinkers in the race as registered on the gear sheet. Stewards, after taking evidence from Starter Mr G Honeywell, established that when the bridle came off during the incident the blinkers had come off as well. As the two items of gear had been separated, only the bridle was reattached with the blinkers remaining on he ground inside the barrier. Co-trainers of ENTERPRISE SUCCESS, Mr A & C Perks decided not to make application for the gelding to be declared a non-runner. Stewards were of the opinion that the blinkers not being reattached, did not materially affect the gelding’s opportunity to be awarded a fair start and correct weight was declared on the judge’s placings.
