Race 1: Burdekin Airconditioning & Electrical Benchmark 65 Handicap 900 metres:
1st – PHOENIX FORCE 2nd – MIGHTY BENDER 3rd – PUBLIC AFFAIR 4th – HEART OF STRENGTH

MIGHTY BENDER – Was slowly into stride.

MOLONGLE CHIEF – Jumped awkwardly losing ground at the start.

MONTANA MAN – Bumped with another runner soon after the start. Raced wide near the 600 metres. Shifted in near the 500 metres bumping with the hindquarters of another runner.

EXPEL – Bumped by another runner near the 500 metres and became unbalanced tightening an inside runner.

PUBLIC AFFAIR – Slowly into stride. Bumped with another runner soon after the start. Tightened for racing room by another runner near the 500 metres.

VIA CON DIOS – Dipped near the 200 metres. Shifted out under pressure near the 100 metres bumping with another runner.

EFFIGY BELLE – Was bumped by another runner which was shifting out near the 100 metres.

Race 2: Tropic Petroleum & NQAS Powershed Maiden Plate 900 metres:
1st – GUTZ CI 2nd – RED CHEVY COUPE 3rd – RAINING DOLLARS 4th – HIGH ON KISSES

MISS MYSTIFIED - Was a late withdrawal at 1:32pm on veterinary advice after the filly made contact with the gate in the mounting enclosure and sustained an injury to its offside hip. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on MISS MYSTIFIED be refunded and that all winning wagers placed prior to the withdrawal of MISS MYSTIFIED be subject to deductions of 16 cents win and 14 cents place.

REAL CI – Was slowly into stride. Made the turn near the 600 metres awkwardly when crowded to the inside of another runner.

RAINING DOLLARS – Shifted in slightly at the turn near the 600 metres crowding another runner.

HIGH ON KISSES – Raced wide throughout.

Race 3: KFSU Ltd QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap 1180 metres:
1st – VALLEY ROSE 2nd – ULTRA RED 3rd – SONIC BOOMER 4th – ROCKET LINER

VALLEY ROSE – Bumped with another runner at the start.

SONIC BOOMER – Bumped with another runner at the start.

CALEDONIAN ROSE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the filly had sustained an injury to its off hind fetlock in running which may have contributed to its poor performance. Nonetheless trainer Mr. G Hall was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly and should it perform similarly at its next start it would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards.

Race 4: Pacific Reef Fisheries QTIS class 1 Handicap 1180 metres:
1st – AERIAL PING PONG 2nd – MAN AROUND TOWN 3rd – REMOS 4th – ROCKET BILLY REBEL

Due to miscommunication FORGOTTEN DESTINY was included in the initial betting market on the event despite the horse being withdrawn at 1:53pm due to no rider being available. Subsequently bookmakers were ordered to rule a line at 2:30pm and refund all monies wagered on FORGOTTEN DESTINY. Further Stewards ordered that all winning wagers placed prior to 2:30pm be subject to deductions of 23 cents win and 18 cents place.

SHELLEY CHINA – Raced fiercely early. On returning to the saddling enclosure the filly was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. Stewards acting under the provisions of AR.53A.(4)(b) advised trainer Mr. T Haydon that the filly would not be permitted to start in any race for a period of three (3) months and would be required to gallop 1000 metres to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing.

DON’T TELL PETE – Raced wide throughout.

ILLUSIONS – Raced wide throughout. On pulling up propped and dislodged jockey G Watson. The gelding was quickly captured by the clerk of the course but subsequently escaped and hurdled the saddling enclosure fence.
A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had sustained minor bruising to its back in the incident. Jockey Watson was examined by on course paramedics and was found to have sustained an injury to his right ankle. He was advised that he would be required to provide a medical clearance prior to his next race ride.

Race 5: Mater Health Services Open Handicap 1180 metres:
1st – STARLISTIC 2nd – PRETTY GULLY 3rd – TUPPENY’S OPINION 4th – DEL PALIO

HEARTFELT QUEST – Was a late withdrawal at 3:34pm on veterinary advice after the gelding became fractious in the barriers and got its leg over the front gate. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on HEARTFELT QUEST be refunded and that all winning wagers placed prior to the withdrawal of HEARTFELT QUEST be subject to deductions of 23 cents win and 23 cents place. Stewards advised trainer Mr. B Williams that the gelding would be required to obtain one (1) barrier certificate prior to its next start.

DEL PALIO – Began very awkwardly losing significant ground.

Race 6: Moore Stephens Benchmark 55 Handicap 1460 metres:
1st – CRAIGLEA FOCUS 2nd – SUNNY CHIEF 3rd- STRONG TIL DAWN 4th – WICKED THOUGHTS

BONNIE BON BON – Raced ungenerously throughout after getting its tongue over the bit in running. Trainer Ms. M McCormack advised Stewards that the filly would race in a tongue tie at future starts. Nonetheless Ms. McCormack was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly and should it perform similarly at its next start it would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.

ZATSACAT – Shifted out at the start crowding runners to its outside.

WICKED THOUGHTS - Shifted in at the start crowding runners to its inside.

HE’S A TERROR – Was crowded between runners at the start.

WATCH THE RED – Was crowded between runners at the start.



Race 7: Great Northern Brewing Co Burdekin Cup Open Handicap 1830 metres:
1st – ALDREN 2nd – BOBCAT 3rd- LIKEFATHERLIKESON (NZ) 4th – KNOWING ME (NZ)

KNOWING ME – Raced wide in the early stages.
