BURDEKIN RACE CLUB - SATURDAY 31st OCTOBER 2015

GENERAL

Stewards, acting under the provisions of AR.8.(a) and in consultation with the Home Hill Turf Club, delayed the commencement of the race meeting after being notified by Trainer Mr. B Williams who had three (3) of the ten (10) runners engaged in Race 1 that he was experiencing transport difficulties and would be late on course. As a consequence the starting time for Race 1 was altered from 1:08pm to 1:30pm.

Stewards acting under the provisions of AR.85B. fined Jockey R Graham the sum of $200 for failing to fulfil his race riding engagements at the meeting of the Burdekin Race Club on Sunday 13th September 2015.

Race 1: Harvest Festival QTIS Maiden Plate 900 metres:
1st – HIDDEN ABILITY 2nd – MORE GEORGE 3rd – BAR BABY 4th – MOLONGLE HERO

BOMBER MISS which proved fractious in the barriers was a late withdrawal by order of Stewards at 1:35pm. Prior to declaration of Correct Weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on BOMBER MISS be refunded in full and further that all winning wagers placed on the event prior to 1:35pm be subject to deductions of 13 cents in the dollar win and 12 cents in the dollar place on the face value of the betting ticket. A post-race Veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Ms. O Cairns was advised that the mare BOMBER MISS would be required to obtain one (1) further Barrier Certificate prior to being permitted to race again.

HIDDEN ABILITY – Was slowly away after jumping awkwardly. Raced very wide rounding the home turn and down the running.

MITCHY’S INSTINCT – Shifted out abruptly on jumping crowding a runner to its outside.

TIERES TOUCH – Was slowly into stride after being crowded between runners shortly after jumping. Raced wide rounding the home turn and down the running.

MOLONGLE HERO – Was slowly away.

WHO’S RIGHT – Was inclined to race ungenerously for a short distance near the 700 metres.

FEAR THE BELLE – Trailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr. D Lemmon was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare for poor performance.

JACK’n’EYE - Trailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr. G Townsend was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare for poor performance.




Race 2: Festival Quuens Benchmark 55 Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – LOG CABIN 2nd – SMUTTY JOHNS 3rd – OVER THE CHOICE 4th – ZOE BAY

After inquiring into an incident which took place near the 700 metres Stewards established that SMUTTY JOHNS (D Andrews), after shifting out abruptly on jumping, had commenced to race fiercely passing the 800 metres and despite the best efforts of Jockey Andrews to prevent it doing so had improved into a marginal run between ZOE BAY (G Kliese) and CAPT’N THUNDERBIRD (App.T Quinn). As a result those three runners were racing tight and bumping and became unbalanced. SANDBAR JACK (C Lennon) which was racing tight to the inside of DON’T TALK SILLY (J Long) and SIGNIFICANT CHOICE (W D’Avila) shifted out marginally when awkwardly positioned on the heels of CAPT’N THUNDERBIRD resulting in DON’T TALK SILLY being crowded for racing room and checked as a result. As Stewards could not be satisfied that the incident had occurred due to the actions of any individual Jockey no action was taken other than to advise Trainer Mr. J Warren that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of the gelding SMUTTY JOHNS and Its future performances would be monitored.

ZOE BAY – Jumped in at the start crowding runners to its inside.

WINDSOR GOLD – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

LEGLESIA – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide rounding the home turn and down the running.

AVELLINO – Was caught wide without cover for the majority of the event.

Race 3: Campbell’s Jewellery Class 3 Plate 1180 metres:
1st – SHE BEE STINGIN’ 2nd – HEAD DRAGON 3rd – ROAD FOX 4th – SUNNY CHIEF

ROAD FOX – Was inclined to race ungenerously in the early stages. Was caught wide without cover for the majority of the event.

VALJEAN – Was reluctant to stretch out in the early and middle stages. Trainer Mr. G Baker advised Stewards that in his opinion the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation.

HEAD DRAGON – Was inclined to lay in for a few strides near the 600 metres.

Race 4: Derby Day Class B Handicap 1460 metres:
1st – CONCERT IMAGE 2nd – TESTAMYCOLOURS 3rd – CRESCENT GLOW 4th – SMALL CHANGE

CRESCENT GLOW – Was fractious in the barriers. Shifted out marginally shortly after the start inconveniencing another runner.

SMALL CHANGE – After beginning slowly was inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out marginally shortly after the start.

FRANLYLE – Was inconvenienced by another runner which shifted in marginally near the 1200 metres.

MARTHA’S MOMENT – Shifted in marginally near the 1200 metres inconveniencing another runner.

COLLIDE – Travelled wide throughout.

Race 5: Malpass Hotel Open Handicap 1460 metres:
1st – MISHANI GLADIATOR 2nd – REGENCY ROYALE 3rd – BURT 4th – ADDICTION TO ROCK

ADDICTION TO ROCK – Was fractious in the barriers.

BURT – Was slowly away.

MISHANI GLADIATOR – Near the 500 metres shifted in when not quite clear of another runner which was inconvenienced. Was quickly straightened.

REGENCY ROYALE – Was inconvenienced near the 500 metres by another runner which shifted in marginally.
