GENERAL

As Jockey A Thomson was not riding due to illness rider replacements were made as per Stewards race day summary. Jockey Thomson was advised she would require a medical certificate for her absence today as well as a separate medical certificate of fitness prior to race riding again.

Race 1: INGHAM CONCRETE- ICON MAIDEN PLATE 2yo & UP SET WEIGHTS 1000m

ALPHA BLUE- Was declared a late scratching at 11:10am by order of Stewards when no rider was available.

DANGERFIELD- Having raced on the 22/07/2021 underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Raced wide for the majority.

THIRSTY- Performed below market expectations. Trainer S Acornley advised that she was disappointed with the performance and, in her opinion, attributed todays performance to being caught wide in running. App A Donald advised that she believed being caught wide throughout was telling in the finish. Stewards noted the explanations.

EMMA ROCKET- Stewards inquired into the tactics adopted on the filly which settled further forward than expected. Trainer D Amos advised that his instructions for the filly were to be ridden forward, as they had been in its most recent starts. However, on those occasions, due to the circumstances of the race the filly was obliged to settle in a rearward position. Stewards noted the explanation and reminded Mr Amos of his obligations under the provisions of AR100.

MANDO MOON- Raced wide for the majority.

Race 2: INGHAM MAZDA BM65 HANDICAP 1200m

STAR RAIDER- Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout. On 25/07/2021 Trainer T Clive advised that the gelding had pulled up sore and would now be sent for an immediate spell. Mr Clive was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to the gelding again being permitted to start in a race.

KEIGHLEY SUN- Passing the 800m momentarily restrained and shifted out around the heels of another runner.

Race 3: INGHAM WHOLELIFE PHARMACY & HEALTHFOODS CLASS B HANDICAP 1100m

SUPALUX- Was declared a late scratching at 10:30am by order of Stewards when no rider was available.

BOLD ZIP- Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.

DEVILS NUMBER- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running bumping with another runner on entering the home straight and again passing the 100m and with a further runner over the concluding stages. Jockey Pawsey was severely reprimanded as a result of this incident. Trainer S Royes was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings racing manners.

BEAUTIFUL TIME- Incline to lay in under pressure down the running.

HIBACHI MISS- Bumped by another runner which was laying in on entering into the home straight and again passing the 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor lacerations to both hind legs consistent with being galloped on in running.

CAT IN THE RAINE- Connections advised that the intention would be to ride the filly forward from the wide barrier should circumstances permit. Raced accordingly.                     Bumped by another runner which was laying in over the concluding stages.

FOX WARRIOR- Compounded in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer A Molino was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to the filly again being permitted to start in a race.

Declaration of correct weight was delayed when it was ascertained that NORWEGIAN WOOD (W D’Avila) did not take part in the race. After taking evidence from Jockey D’Avila, Starter Mr B Brady and viewing the official patrol footage it was ascertained that the front gates of the mares barrier stall failed to open denying the runner a fair start. As such Stewards, acting under the provisions of AR204, declared NORWEGIAN WOOD a non-runner and ordered all monies invested on the mare to be refunded and the following deductions be applied to all successful wagers placed on the event:

47 cents in the win
25 cents in the place

Remedial work and testing was carried out on the malfunctioning barrier gates which were subsequently deemed adequate for use in the remaining events.

Race 4: NQIB BM HANDICAP 1400m

GOLDEN TREASURE- Began awkwardly and was obliged to steady after being bumped by another runner and becoming awkwardly placed on heels soon after jumping. Raced wide throughout. Performed disappointingly. Trainer T Cooke advised that connections would now consider the mares immediate racing future.

HIGH ADVICE- Bumped with another runner on jumping.

NATURE DEEL- Shifted out and away from another runner passing the 1300m crowding another runner. App E Cass was reminded of her obligations.

LIGHTHEADEDNESS- Momentarily crowded for room passing the 1300m.

BATTLE- Crowded for room passing the 1200m.

EROE- Crowded for room passing the 1200m.

NITRO CITY- Raced wide for the majority.

Race 5: INGHAM CELLARBRATIONS- INGHAM GOLD CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 2000m
