Jockey S Wilson the rider of STARLIGHT BELLE was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that approaching the 200m he allowed his mount shift in whilst riding it along contributing to PEMBERTON having to be checked and losing its rightful running. Jockey S Wilson’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence immediately and to expire on Wednesday 25th November 2015.

Passing the 100m STANDFORD had to be checked when disappointed for a run between IT’S GONNA HAPPEN which shifted in marginally and BOLT FROM THE BLUE (Apprentice N Nelson) which shifted out. Apprentice N Nelson was reprimanded under AR137(a).

STANDFORD – When questioned regarding her riding of the gelding apprentice E Cass explained that she had been instructed to ride STANDFORD where comfortable and to give the gelding plenty of racing room when under pressure in the straight. She said that after beginning only fairly she rode her mount in a rearward position where it travelled comfortably throughout and then shortly after straightening she attempted to manoeuvre her mount to the outside in an attempt to obtain clear running and comply with her instructions, however after obtaining a position wide on the track she then attempted to improve between runners near the 100m however was disappointed when the runner on the inside shifted out resulting in her having to check and lose ground. Trainer Mr T Rowe confirmed the instruction issued and expressed satisfaction with the ride. Stewards advised apprentice E Cass that shortly after straightening she should have remained racing closer to the fence when there was an opportunity to do so rather than restrain her mount and shift wider. In taking no direct action against apprentice E Cass stewards were mindful of her instructions and her relative inexperience however advised her to ride her mounts in a competitive manner at all times.

Notwithstanding this advice stewards advised Mr S Potiris that should DANARULE commence another preparation he would be required to furnish a veterinary certificate of fitness including the results of an ECG and that the gelding would have to perform satisfactorily in an official trial.

DASH OF BLACK – When questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding trainer Mr R Nelson said that in his opinion the gelding appreciated the firmer track surface and being able to dictate terms in front.
