SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS

From Lockyer Race Club 15.5.15 – Race 3 Withcott Hotel Plate 1100m:

Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reasons BEKANNTES had to be checked near the 300m. Subsequently A. Merritt, rider of POMPEII FLYER, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that upon entering the home straight he allowed his mount to shift out around the heels of the leader when insufficiently clear of BEKANNTES, resulting in BEKANNTES having to be checked. A. Merritt's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, commencing midnight Tuesday 26 May and to expire at midnight on Saturday 6 June 2015.

GENERAL

R. McMahon was fined $300 for failing to fulfil his engagement on ISLAND EMPIRE in Race 4 at Sunshine Coast on Sunday 24 May 2015.

RACE 1: IPSWICH CUP JUNE 13 MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M

HONEY AND ROSES – Bumped inside the 200m by MIMI AMARA, which shifted out.

JET LIZZIE – Overraced badly in the early and middle stages. Lost its off hind plate in running.

MIMI AMARA – After standing awkwardly in the barriers, bounded and began very awkwardly when the start was effected. Held up for some distance after the 400m and unable to improve until straightening. Shifted out inside the 200m and bumped another runner.

RACE 2: WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT JUNE 13 BENCHMARK 85 H’CAP -1100M

STAR SAMMY – Raced three wide in the early and middle stages.

ZAHA'S ACE – Inclined to overrace and hang out in the early stages.

RACE 3: DJ HAVANA BROWN JUNE 13 QTIS 2YO C & G MAIDEN H’CAP – 1025M

AMERICAN HERO – Raced three wide throughout.

CHICKS DIG ME – Slow to begin, then inconvenienced when crowded at the start.

REVERSE LOGIC – Steadied when crowded for room by PERFECT DARE (G. Colless) near the 900m. Whilst stewards were of the view that PERFECT DARE did initially shift in, they accepted the explanation that when G. Colless did attempt to relieve the pressure he was unable to do so when UH OH had established a position to his outside after shifting in away from SKANDA. G. Colless was severely reprimanded.

RACE 4: FASHIONS ON THE FIELD JUNE 13 QTIS FILLIES MAIDEN H’CAP -1025M

KEBEDE – Slow to begin.

MILLI VANILLI – Raced four wide without cover. Hung in on straightening and then raced greenly in the straight.

NILETTE – Raced three wide without cover.

RARE AIR – Whilst hanging in approaching the 100m was checked severely off the heels of SILVER SKATES, which was tiring and shifted out slightly.

THE BEE'S KNEES – Slow to begin.

ZERO TOLERANCE – Late scratching at 11.15 am when it was found to be lame whilst being loaded onto the float.

RACE 5: XXXX SUMMER MARQUEE SELLING FAST QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 2200M

SLY ROMANCE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slightly lame in the off foreleg. The horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to race again.

CANONGATE – Forced to race extremely wide from the 500m when improving into the race.

SECRET TRYST – Rider dropped his whip near the 100m.

DESTINY'S GENERAL – Commenced to overrace badly approaching the winning post on the first occasion and was severely checked when racing to the inside of the heels of ROGALI when that horse was restrained to find a position with cover. As the stewards were unable to attribute blame to any one rider, no action was taken. Was then left racing three wide passing the winning post on the first occasion, was allowed to stride forward and race outside the lead near the 1300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have post-race distress.

RACE 6: GA $10 TIX JUNE 13 RATINGS BAND 0 - 75 H’CAP – 1350M

As R. Wiggins was to be overweight, M. Cahill was substituted as the rider of NIVALI. R. Wiggins was fined $200.

WRITTEN ABOVE ALL – Raced wide without cover.

KING LUDWIG – Hung in badly in the straight.

TAIL OF A DIVA – Stood flat-footed and lost considerable ground at the start. A warning was placed on the horse's barrier manners.

RACE 7: CHANNEL 7 CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1700M

After viewing the stewards' patrol footage, T. Bell, the rider of OUTRAGED, placed 4th by the Judge, lodged an objection against KAISER FRANZ being placed 3rd, alleging interference at the start. On the evidence it was established that on jumping, OUTRAGED was crowded for room, and whilst the majority of that crowding was caused by KAISER FRANZ, stewards were also of the view that that there was a shift from MESTALLA, which was taken in by DAME DESTINY. They were further of the view that the subsequent running of the race and the way in which both horses finished off the race did not justify an alteration to the placings based on the interference at the start and therefore the protest was dismissed.

BARCELONA BOUND - Lost ground at the start when tightened for room.

KAISER FRANZ - Began awkwardly and shifted out.

OUTRAGED - Steadied when tightened for room shortly after the start.

TARTAN WARRIOR - Raced wide for the majority.

RACE 8: CITY OF IPSWICH CLASS 3 PLATE – 1100M

QUEEN OF GEORGIA – B. Stewart pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that after the 900m he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of CHARGE MISSILE, which was taken in on to WUZETIAN and ROCK ME FAST, which was racing on the fence, and that for a sustained and continual period those three runners were unnecessarily crowded for room, resulting in ROCK ME FAST losing its rightful running near the 700m, striking the running rail and being severely checked. Jockey B. Stewart's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 meetings, to commence at midnight on Sunday 31 May and expire at midnight on Friday 12 June 2015. Lost its off fore plate in running.

CALCULATION – Crowded at the start.
