RACE 3: ITHINK PROPERTY CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1350M

After viewing the stewards' patrol footage apprentice R. Jamieson, the rider of SO QUICK, placed 3rd by the Judge, lodged an objection against MOONLIGHT DANCER being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 50m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos, stewards found that MOONLIGHT DANCER did shift out near the 50m and dictated the running of SO QUICK, which had to be restrained, however bearing in mind the margin separating both runners at the finish and the proximity of the interference to the finish, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that SO QUICK would have beaten MOONLIGHT DANCER and therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored. At a subsequent inquiry apprentice A. Hearn pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that leaving the 100m he permitted MOONLIGHT DANCER to shift out when insufficiently clear of SO QUICK, which had to be restrained. Apprentice Hearn's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, to commence at midnight on Saturday 27 June and expire at midnight on Saturday 11 July 2015.

The start of this race was delayed when both DON'T TELL CYRIL and SO QUICK forced the barriers open. After being quickly restrained, both horses underwent veterinary examinations and were cleared to start.

RIGHT TO ROAM – Inconvenienced approaching the 800m.

FIERCELY DEFIANT – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. Forced wider approaching the 800m. Hung out rounding the home turn. Had to be steadied when crowded for room by SO QUICK leaving the 200m. Laid in leaving the 100m and had to be checked from the heels of SO QUICK, which was taken out slightly by MOONLIGHT DANCER.

MOONLIGHT DANCER – Slow to begin.

SO QUICK – Improved on to the heels of BLACK ZERO when the pace steadied approaching the 800m and when being restrained, shifted out forcing FIERCELY DEFIANT wider. When questioned as to the tactics adopted on her mount, apprentice R. Jamieson stated that after passing the 800m the gelding commenced to race keenly, which resulted in her improving on to heels and shifting out at that point. Apprentice Jamieson added that rounding the home turn she attempted to remain tight to the outside of RIVER GEORGIA, however MOONLIGHT DANCER improved quickly to the inside and made contact with her mount, forcing it wider and allowing MOONLIGHT DANCER to improve to her inside.

RACE 4: IPSWICH POWDER COATING & SAND BLASTING MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M

TIS MINE – The start of this race was delayed when TIS MINE was reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer Q. Kearney was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly's manners.

The start of this race was further delayed when J. Byrne was dislodged from SHUDAPUTARINGONIT. After travelling a short distance, SHUDAPUTARINGONIT was recaptured, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Trainer D. Hansen was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse's manners.

SHIPWRECKED – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

TIS MINE – Raced ungenerously when being restrained a short distance after the start.

GINA BALLERINA – Hung out near the 300m and had to be restrained from the heels of SHUDAPUTARINGONIT. Hung out under pressure over the concluding stages and shifted wider.

GIRLS SAY – Slow to begin. Commenced to hang out from leaving the 500m and had to be steadied. R. McMahon reported that the filly raced very greenly during the middle stages, obliging him to restrain his mount on a number of occasions approaching the 500m.

GALLIC WONDER – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Inconvenienced near the 300m.

RACE 5: AKZO NOBEL QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1100M

ZIP TO THE MOON – Slow to begin.

HAKKASAN – Overraced in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer B. Hill was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance for HAKKASAN prior to its next start.

OUT LATE – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced near the 700m when CLOUD CONSORT had to be checked.

CLOUD CONSORT – Tightened for room near the 700m, had to be checked and lost its rightful running when SUPERDUTY (P. Hammersley) shifted in when not sufficiently clear. P. Hammersley pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) and his licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, to commence at midnight on Saturday 4 July and expire at midnight on Sunday 12 July 2015. Following this incident CLOUD CONSORT raced wide for the remainder of the event.

RACE 6: CONNIE IS A DIRTY HEN MAIDEN H’CAP – 1666M

RUNAWAY RULER – Raced wide in the early stages before the rider elected to ride forward leaving the 1100m to obtain the lead.

CHARJAC – Raced in restricted room to the inside of AL'S MODERN near the 800m and had to be steadied. Apprentice S. Eilbeck, the rider of AL'S MODERN, was reprimanded and advised to allow more room.

LUCKY ILLUSION – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

AL'S MODERN – Had to be steadied near the 450m when tightened for room between LUCKY ILLUSION and POINT, which was taken out by TE RANGI, which was taken out by RUNAWAY RULER, when all runners wanted to hang out rounding that turn. In this incident GALIANO had to be steadied as a consequence of CHARJAC hanging out at that time.

ISIS ANGEL – Raced three wide without cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had come down on all 4 bumpers but was not lame.

LADY HARRIET – Shifted out near the 300m, making contact with another runner. Rider dropped her whip approaching the 100m.

QUEEN GEE – Slow to begin. Held up approaching the home turn. Bumped by another runner near the 300m and became unbalanced. Improved on to the heels of another runner leaving the 100m and had to be checked.

KNIGHT ERRANT – When questioned as to his tactics, J. Taylor stated that from the wide barrier he did not believe the gelding possessed sufficient speed to take up its customary forward position and as a result he was obliged to race further back in the field than intended.

VAINQUEUR – Slow to begin.

RACE 7: HUTCHISON BUILDERS RATINGS BAND 0-65 H’CAP – 1666M

The start of this race was significantly delayed when HALO SHINE took fright and broke through the barriers and galloped riderless for a considerable distance. Stewards therefore declared the horse a late scratching at 4.00 pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on HALO SHINE be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to scratching time:

8 cents in the dollar for the Win #13
7 cents in the dollar for place of winner #13
8 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #11

CAPITANEAR – Began very awkwardly and lost ground.

COLOUR ME PRETTY – Had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room approaching the 800m.
