Race 1: Ipswich Liquor Action Group Class 3 Plate – 1000m

SASSY TYCOON – After being kicked by another runner behind the gates, the mare was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

CAPTAIN WINGS – Had to be steadied near the 900m and shifted out, inconveniencing ONLINES.

ONLINES – Inconvenienced near the 900m.


Race 2: Ipswich Country Club Jockey Celebration Day Maiden Plate – 800m

WHEN IN DOUBT – Slow to begin.

RODEO ROBBI – Slow to begin. Shifted in abruptly shortly after entering the home straight when placed under pressure and proved difficult to ride out for the remainder of the race. Trainer Mr S. Lee was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly's racing manners. Apprentice B. Grylls reported that the filly raced greenly throughout.

SAGACIOUS ROSE – Slow to begin. Disappointed for clear running approaching the 100m and was held up for the remainder of the race.

STRELOVEN – Began awkwardly and made contact with SUPER KANGAROO.

SUPER KANGAROO – Bumped at start. Raced wide.

TIS MINE – Bumped at start. Had to be restrained from heels when overracing near the 400m.

BLUE STAR - Hung out rounding the home turn.

STRELOVEN – Hung out rounding the home turn. Raced wide. Jockey J. Lloyd reported that the filly was inclined to race greenly throughout the home straight.

UNDERCOVER LOVER – Raced in restricted room near the 400m and had to be steadied.

FIBRO – Tightened for room and had to be steadied near the 400m when placed in restricted room to the inside of the heels of RED SRAAD, which shifted in momentarily. M. Hellyer, rider of RED SRAAD, was reprimanded for shifting in, causing tightening to runners to his inside.

LACH'S POCKET – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

POMBE BELLE – Jockey J. Missen reported at scale that the filly was inclined to lay out throughout the event and hung out approaching and rounding the home turn.


Race 3: Brothers Leagues Club QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1350m

LOOKIN' LUCKY – Slow to begin and was then tightened for room shortly after the start. Hung out rounding the home turn.

FOGOSO – Shifted in, making contact with MYSTIC FALLS near the 1200m. YIFAN, which was following, was also inconvenienced.

YIFAN – Hampered near the 1200m. Tightened for room between runners near the 1000m.

ACADINI - Inconvenienced near the 1200m. Bumped near the 400m.

MYSTIC FALLS – Shifted in, making contact with ACADINI near the 400m and became unbalanced.

SHARP BIJOU – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

DEMESNE – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey J. Byrne stated that the gelding failed to travel comfortably at any stage of the race and, in his opinion, proved disappointing. Jockey Byrne was of the view that the horse may improve when placed n races over further distances. Trainer C. Munce confirmed that the gelding would now be placed in races over further distances, and undertook to have blood tests conducted, the results of which he would report back to stewards. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.


Race 4: Riverlink Shopping Centre Maiden H'cap – 1350m

RED SAGA – Trainer S. Lee was advised that a warning would be placed against the filly's barrier manners after proving difficult to load into the barriers. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

PURPLE RED – Slow to begin and lost ground.

SPEAR OF DESTINY – Slow to begin.

ABSEIL – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied near the 1100m after improving onto heels.

HIDE THE ACE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 900m and when being steadied shifted out and made contact with PROVACATEUR. B. Powell, rider of HE'LL BE RIGHT, was reprimanded for causing tightening to runners near the 900m.

PROVACATEUR – When racing in restricted room near the 900m shifted out across heels and had to be steadied. Bumped near the 900m.

BUT I DO – Had to be steadied from heels near the 800m.

ABSEIL – Raced wide without cover.

RAPIDE ET FURIEUX – Raced wide throughout.

Race 5: Providence South Ripley CG&E Class 1 H'cap – 1350m

MEANJIN – On jumping away the jockey's stirrup leather became detached, resulting in the horse taking no competitive part in the race.

SLIPPERY SAGA – Steadied when tightened for room near the 900m.

CODE RED – Checked and became unbalanced when tightened for room near the 900m and lost ground. Jockey J. Byrne, rider of TRICKY JET, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 900m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of CODE RED, resulting in that gelding being crowded for room and having to be checked. Jockey Byrne was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 6 meetings, to commence at midnight, 2 August, and to expire at midnight, 12 August.

SO QUICK – Overraced in the early and middle stages and near the 800m shifted out and raced wide for the remainder of the race.


Race 6: Greater Springfield F&M Class 1 H'cap – 1350m

FAICONI – Jockey J. Lloyd advised stewards it was not his intention to race as far back in the field today, however after beginning awkwardly settled at the rear of the field.

CANE ASH – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

AUDREE – Jockey M. Cahill reported that the filly hung out badly from the 1000m. A post race veterinary examination revealed mildly short striding in the near foreleg. Trainer B. Baldwin was advised that a warning would be placed against the filly's racing manners. Mr Baldwin indicated to stewards that it was now his intention to send the filly for an immediate spell.

JACKSON MOONWALK – Disappointed for a run near the 200m and was unable to obtain clear running until approaching the 100m.


Race 7: Seven News Class 2 H'cap – 1200m

GOLD DEAL – Slow to begin.

ST EDITION – Bumped at start.

FEW ARE CHOSEN – Inclined to lay in under pressure for the majority of the race of the home straight. Raced 3 wide.

GOLFING – Held up rounding the home turn.


Race 8: The Strand Hotel Ratings Band 0-65 H'cap – 1666m

ONE LUCKY SHEILA – Blundered badly on jumping away, dislodging jockey J. Lloyd, sustaining a seemingly harmless fall.

KURRAJONG DRAGON – Bounded at the start and shifted out, making contact with ST EDITION. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.

ROCKLEA RAIDER – Bumped heavily on the hind quarters at the start. Apprentice T. Brooker reported to stewards it was not her intention to lead in today's event, however after the gelding commenced to overrace in the early stages she shifted out and as a result raced wide and therefore elected to improve forward and take up the leading position.

UTMOST FAITH – Had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at heels approaching the 400m. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
