From Doomben 15.8.15 –

Race 5: Trainer R. Heathcote advised that subsequent to the race it was found that JOPA had sustained a black eye on the nearside and that no other abnormalities were detected.

Race 8: Trainer B. Wakefield reported that following the event SILIQUA was found to be stepping short, indicative of the horse jarring up. He indicated he would give the horse a short let-up.

GENERAL

As G. Goold was injured and G. Colless was indisposed, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

RACE 1: HIGH TEAS AT ITC QTIS 3YO FILLIES MAIDEN H’CAP – 1020M

DEE NINE ELLE – Reluctant to hold its position between runners in the early stages.

WHISPERING WINGS – Raced four wide without cover.

MISS SONIC BOOM – Hung out making the home turn and shifted ground.

LET'S CHILL'EM – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden further back in the field. Restrained in the early stages, however overraced badly and consequently was left racing three wide without cover on the pace, and then weakened in the straight.

LOCA DA VIDA – Bumped heavily near the 900m.

RACE 2: CHANNEL 7 MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M

OFCOURSE SHE DOES – Obliged to race three wide without cover from the 700m.

MAUVE LOTUS – Trainer R. Hawkswell explained that the gelding had some serious issues last preparation and for this reason the horse had undergone surgery. He said the horse had also had ongoing muscle issues in the left shoulder which had been carefully managed over an extended period of time. He added that he was hopeful that these issues have now been resolved and was confident that the horse, having had three trials in the lead up to this preparation, would perform competitively today.

EARL OF FORDYCE – Held up rounding the home turn.

MAZDEN STAR – Slow into stride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

MUSTANG JACK – Restrained from the heels of the leader near the 700m.

ROUGH AND RECKLESS – Commenced to overrace after the 800m, shifted away from the rail.

RACE 3: RAY WHITE IPSWICH MAIDEN PLATE – 1700M

CASINO GOLD – Apprentice A. Fancourt reported at scale that it was not her intention to lead, however when caught wide in the early stages and without cover, she elected to press on and cross to the lead near the 1300m.

GANGSTA – Raced three wide without cover.

TEQUILA SLAMMER – Slow to begin. Raced three wide throughout.

EXPECTED TOBEGREAT – Raced greenly in the straight and shifted ground.

LUSHY – Raced three wide throughout. Had to be checked near the 1400m when tightened for room after being taken across heels of EXPECTED TOBEGREAT by CASINO GOLD (A. Fancourt), which shifted in. Apprentice Fancourt pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) for causing the interference and her licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, to commence at midnight on Saturday 22 August and expire at midnight on Wednesday 2 September 2015

LADY HARRIET – Slow to begin.

ZARIA'S FIRE – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

WHAT A TIGER – Had to be restrained from heels near the 1300m.

RACE 4: SKY RACING QTIS CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1700M

MAN OF MELODY – Began awkwardly with its head up and was then restrained to the rear of the field.

PERISHA – Was inclined to shift out and raced awkwardly close to the heels of OUTRAGED approaching the first turn at the 1400m, and then continued to race ungenerously for a short distance.

RACE 5: SIRROMET F&M RATINGS BAND 0-70 H’CAP – 1200M

BERGDORF – When questioned regarding his riding of the mare from the 600m, R. Fradd explained that although it was unable to show any early speed due to it coming back in distance, it travelled nicely throughout. He said that after the 600m, when following SECRET PROCESS, he was confided that horse would shift to a three wide position, enabling him to improve between it and QUEEN CAESAR. He said near the 400m SECRET PROCESS shifted in marginally, resulting in his mare being awkwardly placed for a couple of strides. He added that on straightening a run presented itself again between the two horses mentioned, however both of those shifted marginally on straightening resulting in his mount being baulked for that run for a couple of strides. He said after this, when he was able to place his mount under full pressure with clear running, in his opinion it finished off fairly. Stewards advised R. Fradd that his ride at the vital stages of the race had come under notice and that he would be expected to fully test his mount out whenever possible.

RACE 6: CIVIL PRO C,G&E RATINGS BAND 0-70 H’CAP – 1200M

IT'S ON THE POCKET – Had to be checked severely near the 300m to avoid the heels of BORN TO RUN EASY (C. Schmidt), which shifted out around the heels of OMISSION when not clear. Apprentice C. Schmidt pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) for causing the interference and her licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, to commence at midnight on Saturday 22 August and expire at midnight on Friday 4 September 2015.

LITTLE WHITE – Steadied near the 800m when crowded for room by BORN TO RUN EASY (C. Schmidt), which shifted in whilst being restrained. C. Schmidt was severely reprimanded for the incident

OMISSION – Cast its off hind plate in running.

PULSAR – Restrained from heels near the 900m.

RACE 7: KERWICK HOTEL CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1350M

THREE BEERS PLEASE – Connections advised that from the inside barrier it would be the intention to have the horse ridden closer to the lead if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

BY THE VINES – Sustained a minor laceration to the nearside eye when being transported to the track, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

MOONLIGHT DANCER – Slow into stride.
