Race 7: Holden Barina Giveaway Class 4 H'cap – 1350m
DAZZLING HALO – Slow into stride.
LANDALE – When questioned B. Stower explained that the intention was to lead with the gelding in accordance with its usual pattern. She said in the early stages from the wide draw she strode forward and became concerned when TRIPLE JEOPADY, which was racing to her inside, was overracing slightly, and despite the efforts of its rider to restrain, it would not settle, allowing her to cross. She added that because TRIPLE JEOPARDY did not appear to steady for its ride, she had to make more use of her horse to cross that runner, which she eventually did near the 800m. Miss Stower stated in hindsight it would have been preferable not to have made as much use of LANDALE but with the specific instructions she felt she had little alternative but to ride it in the manner she did.
TRIPLE JEOPARDY – Jockey R. Fradd stated the horse had led with him previously over 1200m and overraced with him on that occasion. He said today after establishing the lead it commenced to overrace and despite his efforts to restrain to allow LANDALE to cross him, it pulled hard and for this reason took further than he would have liked to have it settle.
Race 8: Free Fairground 05/10/15 Class 3 H'cap – 1685m
STONE IN HIS SHOE – After being boxed reared, resulting in its saddle slipping backwards, and as a result was removed from the stall, resaddled, causing a delay to the start.
RED CENT – Slow to begin. The stable representative for the L. Birchley stable advised that at its previous start raced over a further journey on a slow track in a higher class race. He added that with the addition of winkers today he was not surprised by its slightly improved performance today.
