DIVA FOREVER – Unable to improve for some distance approaching the home turn when awkwardly placed at the heels of LIMERICK STAR, which was weakening.

HOTBOT – Became unbalanced and lost ground when tightened for room near the 400m and made contact with the running rail. Had to be steadied at the entrance to the home straight when momentarily tightened for room.

LIBELULA – Raced three wide throughout.

MISHANI NEFERTITI – Trainer L. Ross was reprimanded under LR. 67 for failing to declare B. Stewart as the rider by the prescribed time. In determining penalty, stewards took into account that Mr Ross had not infringed this rule for a number of years.

RACE 2: LIVINGSTONE FABRICATIONS MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M

FLINDERS DEAGON – J. Lloyd reported at scale that over the concluding stages of the race his mount put in a number of awkward strides. Trainer P. Duff advised that he will have veterinary tests carried out in coming days and undertook to report to stewards any findings which may have had an effect on the horse's performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

GILLTOWN – Jumped awkwardly.

JORJA'S JET – Inclined to hang out rounding the home turn and became awkward at the heels of KAYENTA.

RACE 3: SELECT FIRE SYSTEMS MAIDEN H’CAP – 800M

OUR ROCKY – Hung out rounding the home turn and raced greenly in the early part of the home straight, which resulted in T. Harrison being unable to ride that gelding out in her normal manner.

SOCIETY QUEEN – Broke through the barriers prior to the start being effected, was quickly restrained by its rider, underwent a veterinary examination and was withdrawn at 2.44 pm on veterinary advice. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on SOCIETY QUEEN be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

8 cents in the dollar for the Win #7
7 cents in the dollar for place of winner #7
6 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #5
16 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #12

JILL'S CHARM – Reared at the start and lost ground.

UNDERCOVER LOVER – Raced greenly throughout the event. Hung out rounding the home turn.

RACE 4: MANHIRE & ASSOCIATES CLASS 3 PLATE – 2190M

MR LIGHTNING – Stewards questioned apprentice R. Payne regarding her riding tactics on the gelding, which led by a considerable margin in the middle stages of the race and set a fast tempo before weakening badly over the final 400m. Apprentice Payne stated that she was instructed to ride the horse in a forward position today, and from the wide barrier she had to work hard in the early stages to comply with instructions. She added that once she obtained the lead, rather than overly restrain the horse, she allowed it to stride as trainer B. Herne had advised her that the horse has resented in the past being overly restrained. Mr Herne confirmed the instructions and the previous racing manners of MR LIGHTNING and it is now his intention to send the horse for an immediate spell. Stewards advised apprentice Payne that in similar circumstances she would be expected to make greater effort to restrain her mount in an attempt to slow the speed and allow the horse the opportunity to finish the race off competitively. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slightly elevated heart rate.

SPORT OF KINGS – Slow to begin.

AHA I SEE – Raced wide in the early stages.

RACE 5: BDO CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1100M

FIRE WITHIN – Shifted out under pressure over the final stages.
