RACE 1: Melbourne Cup Luncheon @ ITC Colts, Geldings & Entires RB 0-70 H'Cap – 1020m
JAMES IS BLONDE – Jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and made heavy contact with BALKAN BAMBINO.
BALKAN BAMBINO – Bumped heavily at the start. Jockey J. Lloyd reported that the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
MIGGERU – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages and brushed SUNSET SHOWDOWN approaching the winning post.
SUNSET SHOWDOWN – Brushed by another runner approaching the winning post.
RACE 2: Luncheon Tickets Selling Out Class 4 H’Cap – 1350m
SAVANNAH DREAM – Trainer C. Munce reported to stewards this morning that the mare had some minor lumps on the neck that had appeared yesterday afternoon. SAVANNAH DREAM was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the race and cleared to start.
KING BING – Jockey A. Spinks reported at scale that the gelding failed to handle today's prevailing track conditions.
RACE 3: Thanks Robert Henderson – IGS Maiden H’Cap – 1350m
DADDY LONGLEGS – Slow to begin. Jockey J. Lloyd reported that the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
MISS OBERON – Slow to begin.
SPLENDID STRYKER – Near the 1000m was tightened for room by DECIBEL DAN (S. Drake) which shifted in when being restrained, made contact with the running rail and as a result lost ground. Jockey S. Drake was cautioned and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances, particularly in the prevailing track conditions.
HAYIL MATADOR – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
RACE 4: XXXX Good As Gold Maiden SW Plate – 1100m
EIGHT CHANCE – Slow to begin.
HIDDEN REIGN – Jumped away awkwardly.
HAZZEL MONIQUE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
RACE 5: Enjoy Schweppes QTIS 3YO Class 2 H'Cap – 1200m
GRACEVILLE – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages.
FRENCH SONG – Hampered at the start. Overraced in the early stages. Hung out rounding the home turn.
LUCKY SHOW GIRL – When questioned as to the disappointing performance jockey J. Byrne stated the filly failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. A post race veterinary examination of the filly revealed no significant abnormalities.
RACE 6: Sirromet Winery RQ Summer Provincial Series Benchmark 75 H’Cap – 1200m
REMAGEN BRIDGE – Racing in race plates today and not the advertised bar plates. Bumped on a number of occasions over the final 250m.
ITCHINTOWIN – A veterinary examination prior to the start cleared the mare to race. Inclined to lay in in the home straight and bumped another runner on a number of occasions.
HEART OF MANY – App S. Payne reported at scale that the gelding was under pressure from the 600m and weakened badly in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from some soreness in both fore fetlock joints and to have a lower than expected heart rate following the race.
