GENERAL

As D. Griffin was indisposed due to personal reasons stewards permitted rider replacements as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

RACE 1: GNT COMMUNICATIONS MAIDEN H’CAP – 800M

Trainer B. Currie was fined $200.00 for the late declaration of blinkers on JACARANDA KING.

FLASH SAMMY – Slow to begin. Stewards inquired into the reason why jockey V. Venkaya was dislodged passing the winning post. After taking evidence from App G. Willoughby the rider of HOW BIG'S THE HOLE and jockey Venkaya, it was established that approaching the winning post FLASH SAMMY shifted in a considerable distance under pressure, whilst it was noted at the same time HOW BIG'S THE HOLE shifted out slightly resulting in jockey Venkaya being awkwardly placed and clipping the heels of HOW BIG'S THE HOLE causing the rider to be dislodged. As stewards could not be satisfied that any rider was careless to a requisite standard no action was taken. Jockey Venkaya was subsequently transported to hospital for further observation to a possible hand injury.

DANISH DRAMA – Shifted out at the start and bumped ROCK THE BOAT. Raced wide for the majority.

SYNFUL – Made contact with the running rail near the 400m.

DANYSUS – Held up for a short distance approaching the 200m and was obliged to shift to the inside to obtain clear running.

HOW BIG'S THE HOLE – When asked to explain the disappointing performance App G. Willoughby stated that after having a favourable run throughout the filly travelled well until entering the home straight and when placed under pressure failed to respond and proved most disappointing over the concluding stages. Trainer C. Anderson noted that the filly was first up today after having 6 months off racing and would take benefit from today's race.

RACE 2: CLARK'S ELECTRICAL QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1010M

The start was delayed when MAJESTIC MOUNTAIN cast a near fore plate behind the barriers. After being refitted the gelding was cleared by the veterinary surgeon to take its place in the race.

BLACK CRUSADE – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 400m shifted in abruptly when racing greenly.

IRISH HEAT – Slow to begin.

MAGIC INK – Began awkwardly and shifted out. After passing the winning post shifted out abruptly towards the 1600m chute dislodging its rider App R. Williams. After being examined by the ambulance officers App Williams was cleared of any injury.

SHREWVELON – Tightened for room at the start.

MAJESTIC MOUNTAIN – Tightened for room at the start. Overraced in the early stages.

ALLENA – Shifted in at the start.

SWEET SAVANNAH – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

RACE 3: MEEK'S HAIRDRESSING BOUTIQUE QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1010M

TORRE SARACINO – Began awkwardy and made heavy contact with the barrier partition and lost ground. Jockey G. Colless reported that his mount was inclined to shift in under pressure in the home straight and near the 50m bumped heavily with DANSU.

MAGICSEQUENCE – Raced 3 wide in the early stages. When afforded an opportunity to comment on the performance jockey T. Harrison stated that the filly overraced and raced greenly in the early stages. Jockey Harrison added that in the home straight the filly had a tendency to run in and away from other horses and proved difficult to ride. Jockey Harrison noted that the filly may have resented wearing the crossover nose band for the first time and had recommended to connections to remove this gear for the filly's next race start. A post race veterinary examination of the filly revealed it to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer H. Donnelly was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the filly racing again.

INSTANTANEOUS – Approaching the 200m was tightened for room and had to be steadied between MAGICSEQUENCE and TORRE SARACINO both of which shifted ground.

TEMUJIN'S CHOICE – Near the 150m had to be steadied from the heels of MAGICSEQUENCE, which shifted in abruptly.

DANSU – Bumped heavily near the 50m.

RACE 4: CHANNEL 7 MAIDEN SW PLATE – 1350M

PRESIDING OFFICER – Failed to muster early speed. A post race veterinary examination of the colt, which commenced to weaken and hang out from the 600m, revealed mild pain in the near fore ligament. Trainer D. Healey was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the colt racing again.

PROLIFIC BELLE – Rounding the home turn when attempting to obtain clear running shifted out and bumped GOWAN BRAE.

TIMELESS LADY – Raced wide throughout.

Jockey L. Londregan (TIMELESS LADY) was fined $200.00 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

RACE 5: PRINCE ALFRED HOTEL RATINGS BAND 0-60 – 2180M

BLAZING INFERNO – Due to a clerical error stewards permitted App R. Johnston-Bell to be substituted as the rider.

LANDALE – Form Update: Raced on Wednesday 6/7/2016 Benchmark 75 1600m ran 11 of 12 beaten 11.1. A public announcement was made to this effect. App S. Lacy reported to stewards that after obtaining the lead in the early and middle stages she was joined in the lead by MR LIGHTNING near the 800m and then the gelding commenced to overrace. App Lacy attributed the gelding overracing for the reasons that it failed to run out the distance of today's event. App Lacy added that she was of the view that the gelding would be better suited to races up to 1600m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

WAR FRONT – Slow to begin.

JUPITER PALM – Shortly after the start shifted out and hampered KENTAUR, JAM WITH THE DUKE and SERPENT.

KENTAUR – Hampered at the start

JAM WITH THE DUKE – Hampered at the start. Placed in restricted room for a short distance passing the winning post on the first occasion
SERPENT – Hampered at the start.

NATURE BITES – A short distance after the start inconvenienced by LANDALE, which shifted in.

VIV'S VEGAS – Had to be steadied when placed in restricted room on the heels of IBERIA near the winning post on the first occasion. Stewards questioned jockey R. McMahon regarding his riding from the 600m. Jockey McMahon stated that leaving the 600m he attempted to improve into the race however, was held up behind VALTARI and JAM WITH THE DUKE. Jockey McMahon added that in an endeavour to save ground he was content to race to the inside in the hope he would obtain clear running once entering the home straight however, this resulted in him being further held up until a point near the 200m where he was able to shift out to obtain clear running. He further added that after having the opportunity to view the films it may have been a better option to attempt to shifted out when rounding the home turn when there appeared an opportunity to do so as this would have prevented him from being held up. Stewards agreed with jockey McMahon that it would have been a better option to shift out to the outside of VALTARI near the 500m however, did not feel his riding breached the Rules and therefore took no further action.

RACE 6: THE LES KINNANE MEMORIAL CLASS 3 SW PLATE – 1690M

Correct weight was delayed to allow jockey L. Dittman the rider of OUR CATCH which finished second to view the patrol footage to determine whether he had grounds to lodge an objection against MYSTICISM being declared the winner. After viewing the films jockey Dittman elected not to proceed and stewards therefore declared correct weight.

BLACKJACK PRINCESS – Slow into stride.

RULING MISS – Near the 400m made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced.

MYSTICISM – Shifted in under pressure for the majority of the home straight.

WINNING ACCORD – Jockey P. Hammersley could offer no tangible explanation for the gelding's seemingly poor performance.

ROCK SCENT – Jockey G. Colless could offer no tangible explanation for the gelding's seemingly poor performance.

RACE 7: SELECT FLOORING QLD CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M

BECCA THE JET – Began awkwardly and shifted out.

MARLAHN – Hampered at the start.

STRATA LADY – Approaching the 400m had to be steadied from heels.

JESSIE'S BOY – Near the 400m had to be checked when laying in across the heels of IMPERIAL BELLE, which shifted out.

CLASSY CHANEL – Raced wide throughout.

Stewards inquired into an incident near the 1000m that resulted in BECCA THE JET being severely tightened for room and having to be checked and also IMPERIAL BELLE being bumped heavily and forced inwards. After taking evidence from riders A. Taylor (JESSIE'S BOY), L. Cheshire (IMPERIAL BELLE) and App T. Brooker (BECCA THE JET) stewards established that near the 1000m when attempting to obtain a position behind BANCROFT, JESSIE'S BOY skipped across the heels of that runner and became unbalanced and shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider, causing interference to the runners to its inside. Stewards were satisfied that jockey A. Taylor could not be held accountable given the characteristics of her horse and therefore reported the matter without any further action.

RACE 8: WILSON BROTHERS FINANCE CLASS 2 WR 2KG H’CAP– 1350M

PEPPERMINT GREY – Trainer K. Schweida advised after last start beginning awkwardly and settling at the rear of the field today's instructions, which has always been the instructions issued, will be to go forward. The horse was ridden accordingly.

GRESELIN – Trainer J. Morrisey advised filly to be ridden forward to a mid-position, after last start being slow to begin. The filly subsequently raced in a mid-field position. Approaching the 400m was awkwardly placed at the heels of DUTCH TREAT and a short distance later had to be steadied away from the heels of BROOKTON ICE, which shifted out. Jockey R. McMahon was advised to exercise more care.

ROBARD – Slow to begin.

DUTCH TREAT – When afforded the opportunity to comment on the disappointing performance. Jockey T. Harrison stated that after beginning awkwardly from a wide barrier she was obliged to push forward in the early stages in an attempt to obtain a position closer to the rail however, when runners to her inside had improved she was forced to race in a 3 wide position throughout, which she felt was a major contributing factor to the filly's disappointing finishing efforts. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

MAGIC IN ACTION – Checked at the start.

AIR FORCE ONE – Hampered at the start.

SPEEDY GRAPHITO – Tightened for room at the start.

RESTRICTED – Raced wide for majority.
