GENERAL
As T. Brooker was suspended, and J. Lloyd was indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.
FROM, SCTC, 31.8.16 – Race 8
SOLAR BURST – Trainer T. Sears reported that the horse, which had performed disappointingly, had undergone blood tests, which showed no abnormalities. Mr Sears advised however it was now his intention to spell the horse immediately.
RACE 1: CITY OF IPSWICH QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 800M
QUEEN BEATRICE – A warning was placed on the filly regarding its pre-race manners. Slow to begin. Raced greenly throughout.
SHE'S SO MEAN – The start was delayed when the filly proved difficult to load. A warning was issued.
PENNY FOR THEM – Began awkwardly.
SAY CAVALLO – Slow to begin.
SAYKRID LADY – Slow to begin.
HOW BIG'S THE HOLE – Became unbalanced near the 500m and hung in on straightening.
HEARTBEATZ – Apprentice J. Oliver reported his mount was inclined to hang out throughout.
VOL VALLEE – Jockey C. Dell reported his saddle slipped in the early stages of the race, placing him at a disadvantage.
RACE 2: CHANNEL 7 MAIDEN PLATE – 2200M
The start of this race was rescheduled back 1 minute to 1.49 pm.
ST JAMES SQUARE – Slow into stride. Endeavoured to improve its position after the 1000m but was unable to do so when held tight inside BERLINETTA.
ALCHEMY GOLD – Slow into stride.
OUR GIRL CHARLOTTE – Crowded at the start.
Following this race the track rating was upgraded to Good 4.
RACE 3: ITC MELBOURNE CUP LUNCHEON CLASS 4
WHATAWALTZ – Checked when crowded at the start.
RACE 4: BECOME AN ITC MEMBER TODAY MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M
NORTHERN REVENGE – Severely checked when crowded at the start.
BERNIN CASH – Began very awkwardly.
BLOOMERANG – Jumped away awkwardly.
SCARLETT HUSSIE – Steadied when crowded for room at the start.
DREAM OF CHOICE – Raced 3 wide without cover. Pulled hard in the middle stages.
RACE 5: WEDDINGS, PARTIES, ANYTHING AT ITC RATINGS BAND 0-60 H’CAP 1700M
CORDON ROUGE – Declared a late scratching at 12.15 pm on veterinary advice after being injured en route to the track.
SECRET TRYST – A pre-race veterinary examination cleared the gelding to start. A post race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Trainer S. Morrisey advised he would discuss the horse's future with the owners. Trainer advised subsequent to the event that the gelding would be retired from racing.
SPENDID STRYKER – Began very awkwardly and was restrained to a rearward position closer to the rail.
LAYLA'S LAD – Became unbalanced near the 700m when bumped by GOTHIC MIGHT.
RACE 6: BOOK YOUR CHRISTMAS FUNCTION AT IT CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M
GRACEFULLY CHIC – Began awkwardly.
LAIKA GORDO – Bumped at the start. Checked from heels near the 800m when overracing, and continued to overrace for some distance thereafter. Held up rounding the home turn.
OCEANTES – Steadied when crowded between runners near the 1000m.
SUITE MOVER – Steadied when crowded between runners near the 1000m. Raced 3 wide.
JETINTOIT – Had to be steadied from heels when hanging out near the 500m.
SPINNAKER RUN – Raced 3 wide without cover.
SHADOW LAWN – Raced 3 wide.
RACE 7: WEDDING RECEPTIONS AT ITC CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1350m
DON'T SIOUX ME – Began very awkwardly and threw its head up and lost ground.
MANTECADO – Slow into stride.
TIMELESS LADY – Slow into stride.
CRIMSON GOD – Checked when crowded for room at the start. Inconvenienced near the 900m when carried wider momentarily.
MAN OF LAW – Checked from heels in front when racing keenly near the 900m.
THESSALY – When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice R. Payne stated that the mare travelled comfortably throughout, however proved disappointing when placed under pressure near the 400m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
