RACE 1: DF AND JE MILES MAIDEN PLATE – 1700M

CANTERBURY KING – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey J. Lloyd stated that his instructions were to race in a handy position and after beginning well he found himself racing in the lead without overly pressuring his mount and therefore elected to maintain the lead.

SCHWARZY – Raced wide in the early stages before being restrained to obtain a position with cover. When questioned regarding the horse's disappointing performance apprentice B. Panya explained that her instructions were to attempt to obtain the lead, however the gelding failed to show sufficient speed to obtain the lead and therefore she elected to restrain her mount near the 1400m to obtain cover. She added that once placed under pressure near the 400m the gelding failed to respond and in her opinion raced flat today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

LETTER OF CHARM – Began awkwardly. Raced wide from the 1000m when improving. Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn. M. Cahill reported at scale that he had his whip knocked out of his grasp near the 200m.

STRAYING – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers after making contact with the running rail during its preliminary and was cleared to race.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3 retrospective.

RACE 2: RAILWAY HOTEL ALLORA CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M

DANSU – When asked to explain the horse's disappointing performance, jockey J. Lloyd sated that the gelding raced greenly throughout and was inclined to change legs repeatedly in the home straight. He added that nevertheless the gelding still proved disappointing and will take benefit from today's racing experience. Trainer D. Duryea expressed her disappointment in the performance and indicated that she would now add blinkers to the horse's gear and the horse would possibly compete in a jump-out before its next race start A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slightly slow recovery rate. A swab sample was taken.

MYSTYKO – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Had to be steadied near the 400m when racing greenly. When afforded the opportunity to comment on the horse's disappointing performance, jockey L. Cassidy explained that after beginning awkwardly the gelding settled at the rear of the field and never travelled comfortably throughout. He added that the gelding then was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn and was most disappointing over the concluding stages. He added that in his opinion the gelding may have resented the tongue tie, which was part of the horse's gear for the first time. Trainer T. Rogers confirmed that the gelding would now be sent for an immediate spell.

HE'S ALL HEART – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

Harrison stated that at the 600m the gelding was travelling strongly behind the short-priced favourite, which she anticipated improving into the race, affording her the opportunity to follow it into the event, however rounding the home turn and entering the home straight she was held up on that horse's heels and was unable to shift out when STORMY GREY had improved to her outside.
