GENERAL
 
As B. Powell was ill, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: IPSWICH HOSPITAL FOUNDATION MAIDEN H’CAP – 800M
 
DIAGORAS – Slow to begin. Laid out near the 500m and inconvenienced MENTOBE. J. Morris reported at scale that his mount raced greenly throughout.
 
MENTOBE – Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced near the 500m.
 
HOOKED A BEAUTY – Raced wide throughout.
 
EVAMAC – Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
Race 2: QUEENSLAND ATHLETICS LEAGUE QTIS 2YO C&G MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
SNOOZE – Began awkwardly.
 
VICTORY IS MINE – Stewards accepted the explanation tendered for the horse’s late scratching at 7:32 am.
 
WITHOUT DISSENT – Slow to begin.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.
 
Race 3: IPSWICH PARK2PARK QTIS 2YO FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
AMELIA JANE – Held up on the heels of the weakening TEAGZ near the 500m and was unable to improve.
 
DAZZLING GREY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
GLOBALLY – Raced three wide without cover. Commenced to overrace approaching the 600m and shifted out, forcing PABULUM wider.
 
PABULUM – Raced wide throughout. Forced wider approaching the 600m.
 
PONYTALES – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, apprentice A. Fancourt stated that after travelling a short distance from the start she was unable to take up a forward position as were her intentions. She added that to obtain cover she had to settle further back than anticipated. She further added that upon straightening the filly failed to quicken as expected and proved reluctant to improve between runners. She said although she had some difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages, she was nevertheless disappointed in the performance. She said the stable indicated that the filly would now most likely be sent for a spell.
 
TEAGZ – When questioned regarding the horse’s disappointing performance, jockey T. Chambers reported that after taking up a forward position the filly did not feel entirely comfortable in its action from the 600m onwards. She added that it was also inclined to lay out throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer M. Mair indicated that he would have his stable veterinary surgeon conduct blood tests on the horse, the results of which he would report to stewards. He added that consideration would be given to sending the filly for a spell.
 
Race 4: PROGRAMMED PROPERTY SERVICES BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1666M
 
FREE BILLY – Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer A. Ross for the late declaration of Adam Spinks as rider. Slow to begin. Stewards questioned apprentice Adam Spinks regarding his riding from a point near the 800m as to why he elected to shift out to a four wide position to improve. Apprentice Spinks stated that at that stage of the race near the 800m the pace of the race had steadied resulting in him becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of VENECIA. He felt that at that stage his mount was travelling strongly and therefore he elected to shift wider to allow his mount clear running to improve. Stewards noted his explanation.
 
WALTHAM – Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
PLANET AMERICA – As M. McGuren was to be overweight, M. McGillivray was substituted as rider. M. McGuren was fined $200. Weakened over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
ROYAL ROULETTE – Trainer K. Fleming advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden in a more forward position today. Began awkwardly. After racing wide in the early stages the gelding was allowed to stride forward to take up a position outside the leader near the 1100m.
 
Race 5: FURNWARE MAIDEN H’CAP – 1666M
 
The start of this race was delayed due to an interstate event.
 
SIDETRIP – Bumped near the 500m.
 
LAYLITE – Trailed the field throughout and was uncompetitive. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer M. Webb advised stewards that the horse would be sent for a spell and would be trialled prior to racing again.
 
GIOVANE AMORE – Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining a position outside the leader near the 1100m.
 
WHAT DO YA THINK – Connections advised that due to the favourable barrier draw it would be the intention to have the horse ridden in a more forward position. The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
STAR MYST – Shifted out near the 500m and bumped SIDETRIP. Placed in restricted room rounding the home turn.
 
A TISKET A TASKET – Blundered on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
BOUCHARD – Held up on the heels of SUSHI OLE approaching the home turn and then raced in restricted room for a short distance and was unable to obtain clear running until entering the home straight.
 
SUSHI OLE – Slow to begin.
 
Race 6: TRANSIT AUSTRALIA GROUP EDDIES CUP CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1666M
 
PRICELESS DE HERO – Bumped over the concluding stages.
 
KERMANDIE STAR – Slow to begin. Commenced to overrace approaching the 1400m and had to be restrained from heels. Inclined to lay in under pressure for the majority of the home straight and over the concluding stages shifted in and bumped PRICELESS DE HERO.
 
DAZZLING SHIRAZ – Shifted out shortly after the start and bumped ONEMORE TWIST. Caught wide in the early stages. S. Galloway could offer no tangible explanation for the horse’s disappointing performance.
 
SIOSTRA – Trainer M. Wilson advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden in a more forward position today. The horse settled in the second half of the field.
 
ONEMORE TWIST – Bumped shortly after the start. Placed in restricted room to the inside of SIOSTRA near the 1000m, made contact with the running rail and became awkward.

 
Race 7: CRYSTAL WINDOWS & DOORS F&M CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M
 
The start of this race was delayed due to an interstate event.
 
HIGH SPECS – Shifted in abruptly at the start.
 
DAWN FIGHTER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers after the rider reported that the filly had made contact with the fence on entering the track and was cleared to  start. Began awkwardly.
 
VENETIAN BEAUTY – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
 
BOOMI DAZZLER – Disappointed for a run upon entering the home straight between DAWN FIGHTER and GRACEFULLY CHIC, which shifted out. BOOMI DAZZLER was then obliged to shift back to the inside to obtain clear running.
 
VOANABA – Slow to begin.
 
Race 8: TRIDAN ELECTRICAL C,G&E CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M
 
STAR JUSTICE – Hampered near the 900m.
 
STAR OF POMPEII – Connections advised that the instructions will be to settle off the speed with cover if possible. The horse was ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly. Commenced to overrace near the 900m when being restrained to obtain cover and got its head up on a number of occasions.
 
OUR ROCK O’REILLY – Apprentice B. Panya reported at scale that she had her whip knocked out of her grasp near the 100m.
 
TE RANGI – Began awkwardly. Had to be steadied near the 150m when tightened for room between OUR ROCK O’REILLY and STAR JUSTICE (M. McGuren), which shifted out. M. McGuren was advised to exercise more care.
