Race 1: HUTCHINSON BUILDERS QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE 800M

BUNGAREE BOY - As the horse’s arrival on course was delayed due to a traffic incident, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to race.

VOODOO MANGO MAGIC- Raced greenly in the early stages.

BIDAFLARE- Slow to begin and then failed to muster early speed.

DEEP LEAD - Had to be steadied approaching the home turn when tightened for room by MIRACLE STAR, which had a tendency to lay in. N. Tomizawa, the rider of MIRACLE STAR, was reprimanded for this incident. Had to be eased away from the heels of MIRACLE STAR near the 300m when that runner continued to lay in despite the efforts of its rider.

MIRACLE STAR - Stewards accepted trainer P.Sexton’s explanation for the late declaration of N. Tomizawa as rider. Fractious in the barriers and reared prior to the start being effected.

TOUJOURS L’AMOUR - Raced greenly in the home straight and had a tendency to lay in under pressure.

Race 2: MIHI TAVERN BRASSALL CLASS 4 H'CAP 1200M

JETINTOIT - Was fractious in the float en route to the course and struck its head, examined by the veterinary surgeon pre-race and passed fit to start. Underwent a further veterinary examination at the barriers and was cleared to race. Slow to begin.
MR MARBELLOUZ - After being slow to begin, attempted to obtain a forward position closer to the rail but was unable to do so and was forced to race three wide without cover for the remainder of the event. When questioned regarding the performance, trainer K. Kemp, after viewing the video, agreed that the gelding had a hard run being caught wide without cover, noting that it was up in class for today’s event and after also noting that it may have come to the end of its campaign, stated that he was not overly disappointed with today’s effort. He added that he would assess the geldings post-race recovery in coming days before making a decision whether to continue with its current preparation or send the gelding for a spell.

GO GET SUM - Slightly hampered approaching the 200m when racing in restricted room to the inside of TRIPLE JEOPARDY and then approaching the 100m had to be steadied when tightened for room by TRIPLE JEOPARDY which was taken in slightly by MR MARBELLOUZ. GO GET SUM then went to the line without being fully tested.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.

Race 3: WESTS HOCKEY IPSWICH F&M MAIDEN H'CAP 1350M

ARGIE BARGIE - Blundered on jumping. Had to be momentarily steadied at the 200m when disappointed for a run to the inside of PANDORAAS TALE. When questioned regarding the mares performance, apprentice M. McGillivray stated that it was his intention to race just behind the leader, however after his mount blundered at the start he elected to take a trail on the back of PANDORAAS TALE, which crossed him to obtain the lead, and as a result he was positioned further back when that horse allowed SIGNORIA to press on and obtain the lead. He added that when the pace slowed mid-race the mare was in an awkward position and then when the field commenced to sprint rounding the home turn he felt his mount was left flat-footed, noting that it was also disappointed for a run at the 200m. He said that notwithstanding that, in his opinion the mare was disappointing, which he attributed to the firm racing surface today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings other than some minor lacerations to the off hind leg.
LILLANLIV - Commenced to over-race after passing the 1200m, had to be steadied away from heels and in doing so shifted in, making contact with GIFTOFLIFE.

SHELTIC - Had to be steadied while over-racing passing the 900m when hampered between WOOLOOMAN SKY and LILLANLIV which was forced outwards by another runner. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

GIFTOFLIFE - Slow to begin. Bumped after passing the 1200m.

PANDORAAS TALE - Began awkwardly.

KISSAYKISS - Raced three wide without cover throughout. Commenced to weaken approaching the 400m and finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer S D’Avila was advised that the horse must trial satisfactorily and she must produce a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, prior to the filly being permitted to race again.

ROTHAAS ROSE - Slow into stride. Had to be steadied away from heels approaching the 400m.

WOOLOOMAN SKY - Raced wide without cover.

Race 4: BARRIER REEF POOLS QLD C,G&E MAIDEN H'CAP 1350M

The start of this race was delayed when DEFECTIVE, after being extremely fractious in the barriers, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and declared a late scratching at 2:44 pm on veterinary advice that the gelding had sustained a laceration to the off foreleg. Trainer T. Gollan was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse for its barrier manners.
DEWEY BLUES, which was drawn in the adjoining barrier, also underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on DEFECTIVE be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to scratching time:

4 cents in the dollar for the win #16
28 cents in the dollar for place of winner #16
28 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #11
20 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #7

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable B. Stewart, the rider of 4th placegetter MAKING SHADOWS, to view the patrol footage in the straight to determine whether he had grounds on which to lodge an objection against 3rd placegetter ULTIMATE REALITY. After viewing the videos, jockey Stewart declined to lodge an objection.

WHAT’S THAT - Began awkwardly and shifted out. Shifted in under pressure in the early part of the home straight before shifting out over the concluding stages despite the efforts of its rider.

HELL OF A TIME - Began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping AKUA. After being caught wide and in a rearward position in the early stages, when the pace slackened approaching the 1350m turn was allowed to stride forward passing the 1200m.

VENETIAN BEAUTY - Hampered between runners shortly after jumping. Momentarily hampered rounding the home turn when attempting a tight run to the inside of FAVOURED GRACE, which shifted in marginally, and then was held up and unable to improve from the 250m until approaching the 70m where it obtained clear running and finished the race off strongly.

AKUA - Bumped at the start and was then hampered between runners shortly after. Commenced to over-race in the early stages and got its head up on a number of occasions when being restrained.

Race 6: BARRIER REEF POOLS QLD CLASS 1 H'CAP 1000M

The start of this race was delayed when GOOD GRACIOUS MAE proved difficult to load.

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable apprentice S. Lacy and Ms K. Clark-Peoples, the rider and trainer of 2nd placegetter CAPTAIN PARKER, to view the patrol footage in the straight to determine whether there were grounds on which to lodge an objection against the winner GATLINBURG. After viewing the videos, both parties indicated that they did not wish to lodge an objection.
GATLINBURG - Slightly hampered on jumping when tightened between SHEEZALADY and GOOD GRACIOUS MAE, which shifted in. Had a tendency to lay in after passing the 200m, proving difficult to ride out, and at the 50m laid in and made contact with CAPTAIN PARKER.

SCORCHA - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Hampered after passing the 100m when tightened between runners and unable to be fully tested over the concluding stages.

STAR OF POMPEII – Rider G. Colless reported that his mount had a tendency to lay out in the middle stages.

GOOD GRACIOUS MAE - Proved difficult to load. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
