Race 1: IPSWICH LITTLE THEATRE CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1020M
 
PRUE’S ANGEL – Bumped heavily on jumping. Cast the near fore plate in running.
 
MAGIC STREET – Raced three wide without cover.
 
OUR ROCK O’REILLY – Steadied when crowded after the 900m.
 
Race 2: CHANNEL 7 NEWS MAIDEN PLATE – 1100M
 
The start of this race was delayed when the tongue tie on MADAM MAHAL became displaced after the mare was loaded, resulting in the horse being removed from its stall and the gear being refitted.
 
MALEFIC – Raced three wide without cover.
 
FLYING MAGIC – The veterinary surgeon reported that the horse had poor post-race recovery.
 
MADAM MAHAL – Slow into stride.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to SOFT 6.

Race 3: SCHWEPPES QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
CHAPTER AND VERSE – Crowded shortly after the start.
 
SIR BARNABUS – Began awkwardly and was then slow into stride. Steadied near the 700m.
 
SPLITTER – Trainer T. Gollan was fined $200 for the late declaration of J. Lloyd as rider. Blundered on jumping.
 
OPPENHEIMER – Overraced in the early and middle stages and then raced four wide without cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
FEW TOO MANY – Raced three wide without cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
Race 4: SIRROMET WINES C,G&E CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1350M
 
CLASSIC RECORDS – Trainer G. Moore advised that from the wide barrier it would be the intention to have the horse ridden in a rearward position. Began awkwardly with its head up and raced accordingly. The veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding sustained a laceration to the off fore cannon and was bandaged on course.
 
PARK CHINOIS – Raced three wide without cover.
 
SACROMONTE – Crowded on jumping. Bled both nostrils. Ineligible to race for 3 months and prior to resuming racing must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward.
 
VIDARR – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Overraced in the early stages and had to be steadied when crowded near the 1100m.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to SOFT 5.
 
Race 5: RAY WHITE IPSWICH F&M CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1350M
 
HIDDEN GOLD – Raced three wide without cover.
 
USENA – As S. Doyle was indisposed due to injury, M. Hellyer was substituted as rider.
 
AUDREE – Commenced to hang out from the 900m, shifted out towards the outside rail and was retired from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer B. Baldwin was advised that the mare must perform satisfactorily in a trial before being permitted to race again.
 
Race 6: QUEENSLAND TIMES CANNONBALL SERIES – HEAT – BENCHMARK 75 H'CAP – 800M
 
PUFF’S GIRL – Bumped heavily at the 700m.
 
LIFE’S LIKE THAT – Raced five wide.
 
POETIC DRAGON – Raced four wide and hung out on the turn.
 
Race 7: CITY OF IPSWICH CLASS 5 H'CAP – 1200M
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to afford stewards, apprentice Z. White and trainer T. Gollan the opportunity of viewing the patrol footage of the start to ascertain whether SHADOW LORD had been afforded a fair start.
 
CAILLEBOTTE – Slow into stride.
 
SHADOW LORD – Put its head down as the start was effected, resulting in apprentice Z. White becoming badly unbalanced when the horse jumped and as a result lost considerable ground.
 
Race 8: RADIOTAB KEITH NOUD QUALITY H'CAP – 1200M
 
MOST IMPORTANT – Unable to secure clear running for a major part of the home straight.
 
COL ‘N’ LIL – Steadied whilst overracing when in restricted room near the 700m.
 
BIDII BABE – Raced three wide without cover.
 
HI I’M BACK – Began awkwardly, resulting in the rider becoming unbalanced.
 
Race 9: GRANDVIEW STUD BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP – 1690M
 
THE EQUALIZER – Hung in in the home straight.
 
TENNESSEE FLING – J. Orman reported that the horse did not respond when placed under pressure from the 600m and as he was concerned with its action he did not persist in riding it out, resulting in the horse finishing tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had poor post-race recovery. Trainer W. Nugent was advised that the horse must perform competitively in an official trial before being permitted to start again. Mr Nugent advised that the horse would be sent for an immediate spell.
