GENERAL

As R. Plumb became indisposed due to illness after riding at the Gold Coast meeting today, riding replacements were made in Races 4, 7 and 8 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: IPSWICH POOL INSPECTIONS QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1666M

IMMERSION – Became unbalanced near the 500m after being bumped by SET BEAT which shifted out to avoid the weakening LASHONI.

SET BEAT – Slow into stride.

LASHONI – A post-race veterinary examination of the filly, which weakened from the 600m and tailed out, revealed the horse to have cardiac arrhythmia. The stable was advised that the filly will require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, and must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards, prior to being permitted to race again.  Trainer Mr. T. Gollan advised that the filly would now be sent for an immediate spell.

Race 2: CCM INSTALLATIONS CLASS 3 PLATE – 800M

TOFU MICK – Hung in in the home straight.

AGIA MONI – Stewards accepted Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos’ explanation for the late declaration of A. Fancourt as the rider.

MISS ZINZIN – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

Race 3: CARS BRISBANE COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M

DON ALMIGHTY – Laid out rounding the home turn.

RABBIT HUNTER – Steadied near the 600m when racing to the inside of DON ALMIGHTY (App. S. Sweeney) which was hanging in. Laid out rounding the home turn.

CUPID’S AFFAIR – Steadied to avoid the heels of DON ALMIGHTY (App. S. Sweeney) approaching the 800m when that runner shifted in when not completely clear. Apprentice
Sweeney was advised to exercise more care.

Race 4: ATOMIC SPORTS & LEISUREWEAR FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M

The start of this race was delayed when TEN FOOT TALL reared and became cast in the barriers. The mare was removed, underwent a veterinary examination and deemed suitable to race.

CATENA – Commenced to overrace approaching the 800m, and had to be checked when awkwardly placed inside the heels of PRINCESS DEVINE. Lost the off fore and off hind plates in running.

GOLDEN MEAN – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

AL SABELLA – Commenced to overrace approaching the 800m, and had to be checked when it ran across the heels of CATENA.

SNAP AND GO – Steadied from the heels of SLEEPY HEART whilst laying in approaching the winning post. Lost the near hind plate in running.

PRINCESS DEVINE – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.

Race 5: MIHI CREEK TAVERN CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1000M

FOXY WALK – Stood awkwardly in the barriers and turned its head as the start was effected and, as a result, lost considerable ground.

SI SI SEQUALO – Stable representative, Ms. M. Seymour, was advised that a $100 fine will be imposed under AR. 124 in that the horse was only presented to the mounting yard five minutes prior to the advertised start time.

Race 6: IPSWICH CITY BULLS FOOTBALL CLUB CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M

TO EASY BRO – When questioned by Stewards regarding his riding, in particular his shift away from the rail, jockey L. Dittman advised that after obtaining an easy lead he was of the view that the track conditions had deteriorated down the side and rounding the home turn, and his horse dipped on a couple of occasions after the 600m, and he therefore elected to allow his mount to shift away from the rail at that point to avoid the inferior section of the track. Jockey Dittman added that, whilst his mount was inclined to lay out slightly, he made the conscious decision to shift away at that point which eventually allowed KEEP YOUR ROSES an inside run. Stewards accepted jockey Dittman’s explanation.

STREETS BETTER – Got its head up whilst overracing in the early stages and, as a result, proved difficult to restrain and raced 3 wide throughout.

LADY CHICAGO – Began awkwardly, and was then slow to muster early speed.

Race 7: HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK FARRELL CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1666M

MR DUMONT – Bumped on the hindquarters at the start.

ROMAKASH – Race 3 wide throughout and was then carried 4 wide from the 700m.

COURAGE WITHIN – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Whilst Stewards were satisfied that it did not affect the gelding’s final position, jockey S. Doyle was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount out to the conclusion of race.

MONEY TALK – Steadied from heels near the 500m and shifted out to improve.

BOUCHARD – Held up rounding the home turn, and in the home straight until the 100m.

MACKELLAR – Inconvenienced and steadied away from heels approaching the 400m. Lost the off fore plate in running.

DITZY DARCI – Connections advised that it would be the intention for the mare to be ridden more forward today if circumstances permit. The horse subsequently raced outside the leader.

Race 8: CARLTON MID BENCHMARK 62 H’CAP – 1350M

The start of this race was delayed when BRICKHALL, which broke through the front of the barriers and was quickly restrained after galloping a short distance, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.

MICKEY DAZZLER – Began awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages.

CAPTAIN EYCHE – Raced in restricted room to the inside of SOLO ARTIST from the 1100m to the 1000m.

SHONECK AFFAIR – Began awkwardly.

BAY RAIDER – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

MORNING FARE – Hampered on jumping away. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
